Thank you! I am going back to Final Cut after 12 years of editing with Premiere Pro (filmmaker and freelance editor background). I am now starting a UA-cam channel and I am tired of paying for the Adobe subscription. Final Cut sure has changed a lot since X first came out (I hated it). They have made it better. Downloading the app as we speak! Looking forward to editing my first video with the improved FCP! :)
Instead of moving those clips and then having to move the connected clip back you can instead press and hold the ~ key on your keyboard and move clips in "non-destructive" mode kind of thing where the connected clip stays put even if you move a clip from the main timeline. It also works if you delete a clip from the main part of your timeline. When you press and hold that ~ key, the connected clip stays put
great video, deserves more views because it's valuable for the switch, would be good to see a little add on video with a overview of the new features for FCP 11 and how to use them,
Ok I'm using the 90 day trail to see if I like Final Cut, and dude, it can scrub through 4k footage without proxies on my m3 MacBook pro like no problem at all, I honestly am kinda digging the speeds!
But for color grading, and also the way I edit multiple day events I create multiple island in the timeline and give it a color by theme, then I create a story progression through that division, so I can’t do that in Final Cut pro cause it’s mashing everything together in the magnetic time line…
Yeah I'm kinda sold. I'm not ditching nothing I just want to add another skill. And I like learning new software. It seems like with the recent update it's not going anywhere. So probably a good one to learn. I'm a happy resolve user by the way. But I've heard you can work really fast in final cut once you know what you're doing. I want to see what the hype's about. Hopefully you can edit keyboard shortcuts? I would assume so but then again, it's Apple so you never know. I suppose it's a Google search. Nice introduction video is exactly what I was looking for.
Guten Abend, kann kein Wort Englisch. Bin 77 Jahre alt. Im Ägypten Urlaub Schnorchel ich. Habe eine 15 Jahre alte Lumix mit Gehäuse für Unterwasser Aufnahmen. Tolle Aufnahmen, glasklar.

Thanks for this great tutorial! I am just moving to Mac after 30 years of Windows and Premiere pro and this Video is very helpful!
Hey Nick!, Thank you very much!
My pleasure!

Glad you enjoyed! I've got a video coming out shortly on the new mask feature in 11 :)
Can’t wait to get started with Final Cut after years away from using Premiere. Great timing 😎
Let's go!! 🙌
what is the configuration of your system?

One of the many benefits! It's really optimized for Apple silicon! I think you're going to love it ;)
How do you bring the video in without the audio attached? I can’t figure it out lol. I have to detach the video audio to delete it

Nice, yeah Resolve is great, I use it to color grade. But I do find I can edit so much faster in FCP. Glad the video was helpful!
Yeah, you can edit key commands in Final cut
