I could almost smell the Coleman bacon aroma, we’ve come a long way in so many areas but lost many things along the way. The nostalgia of those simple camping trips in a tent, cooking over a wood fire, someone pulling out a guitar and having a sing along around the fire. Roasting potatoes, apples, marshmallows, hotdogs on sticks and making s’mores . Those were great memories made with people we loved and in my case are gone now.
    Enjoy your summer🥰🙋🏼‍♀️

I remember camping with my folks and they had one of these. Many good meals my Mom cooked on one of those.
Fresh fish - Dad caught - potatoes eggs and so much more. Yum
    Good memories for me.
    Bacon!! You bet.

Watching you cook on that old Coleman makes me want to go camping! I also cut my bacon in half like that, but because I have to have it really crisp, I lay the strips out instead of dumping it in like that. It's all good, tho! 😋

Wow... the little movements of pumping and opening valves brought back memories of my Dad -- who I thought was a genius for knowing how to operate that thing and fix engines and grow a garden every year. Thanks Dave.

    Hi Dave!
Thanks for showing the Coleman Stove! I rescued two of them from the local dump - an 16 inch and an 18 inch. I want to try them out and this is a great primer! I have never used one of the gas stove like these, so it will be an adventure. They are in good overall shape - looks like they were barely used. I couldn’t believe my great fortune finding them! I have a #3 skillet like yours that I cook eggs in - I agree with you - Griswolds are my favorite too!

Don’t take my word for it but… “they” say you shouldn’t cook acidic (tomatoes) foods in cast iron or aluminum. SS has its place. BTW your old white gas stove is bringing back good old memories, thanks!

a 'stew pot' can be used for 'stew'.. a pound of hamburger, a cut up carrot, a diced small onion, a couple of potatoes, spices, a can of beef broth, or a spoonful of beef bouillon and water. or watever else you have on hand that you like. Or, turn a glass or metal bowl and placed upside down in the bottom of the pot, on top of the pot, put a pan or plate with biscuits on top, pre heat pot, put in biscuits and turn on medium heat, in approx. 15-20 min you should have baked biscuits, same as your little box oven, only it has a heat regulator. A pot of hot water is great for doing dishes, taking a sponge bath, etc.. a 'stew pot' is the most versalite pot to own except for your iron skillet.

Coleman products seem to last for many many years. I used to have an original metal like cooler that kept ice longer than any newer type cooler I’ve used. When you lite the camp oven I kept saying, “open the door” as I thought you’d left items inside that might get damaged. I do believe you’ll thoroughly enjoy that camp oven as you can basically cook anything in it. I’ve watched another UA-camr couple use one on a regular basis when they first started their channel tent camping across America. The young wife is quite an amazing cook. They also have a campfire dutch oven pot that they’ve used for cooking a whole bird as well as homemade pizza dough and a multitude of yummy looking pizzas. Looking forward to your summer adventures. 🏕

I bake my bacon, the whole pack and it’s always ready for me. The P-trap might be clogged, take it off and clean it out. That might be why you have a slow drain. I love how green it is, seems so fresh. Bella’s so gentle taking her bacon 😊

I found an identical stove in a storage closet where I used to live I bought a propane conversion kit at WalMat (about $12.00) and it worked great. We cooked several meals at Yosemite and was very happy with it because there is no filling the gas tank nor pumping involved.

I could smell that bacon! I like mine very crisp and dry, microwave between paper towels does the trick. We don't do bacon anymore, we're too old I guess.🤣🤣😂😂Nothing tastes the same since chemo anyway. I not only had the exact same stove and skillet(still in the garage 'cause it doesn't work on the glass top), but I also had the same stew pot. Really brought back the memories Dave. it was fun, thanks. 😁😁😎😎👍👍

I am glad you gave Bella a treat , not much just some , probably made her day . Like your oven and pot . I was thinking a big pot of goulash would be great in that , a meal for many days . Stay safe , have fun . Give Bella a rub for me.

I have a gas stove just like that! It was my Dad's. It's as old as I am. Built and purchased in the '60's! I'm breaking it out soon! My mom made some famous meals on it. I think that big pit uou have would work well for a pot roast! Cooked slow on low fir a few hours! Yummmmm
I also have that same food processor. I got it in the 90's when I had my 1st child. I used it to make baby food. Whatever we had for dinner, she had for dinner too (within reason).
I just put one of those camp ovens on my Amazon wish list! Lol

With a little water in the bottom, I am sure you could use the pot like crock pot and cook a roast with potatoes and carrots and onions and other tasty produce. If you boil the potatoes a little first and cut the meat into small chunks, it would probably take about an hour. You could also use it to make stuffing or rice or anything else you can boil. At the same time, you could use the oven to make some cornbread or biscuits.

I soak up the extra grease with a wad of paper towels held with a tong. I find it helps to cook the bacon quicker (not swimming in the excess grease) just remember if you are saving bacon grease for any other cooking remove with a large spoon before.🤭 Your little stove is an oldie, but a goodie!👍🏻🙏

Dave on the gas tank on your Coleman camp stove, is the a hole in the plunger where you pump the pressure up? I used to have an even older camp stove than yours. The plunger on mine had a small hole in the center of the plunger that when you pulled the plunger out, you removed your thumb from covering the hole, allowing the plunger to suck air in. Then when you pushed the plunger back into the tank you covered the hole with your thumb keeping the pressure in the plunger/tank. It was hard to tell if that was what you were doing. I am a regular viewer and enjoy watching you keeping it real!

Gotta ask..did Bella get more bacon, or did her master hog it all? Like the stove, I grew up around them...went on camping trips as a boy with my grandfather who loved to fish and carved his own lures from wood. Looks like a great, private and peaceful park. Didn't see anybody. Still wondering if you've considered making a homestead at one of your family's land. Can't stay at the garage, and can't stay young forever.
