Sewer Pump

- One of the rules of plumbing is waste runs downhill. Except for when it doesnt! Sometimes in plumbing you just dont have the fall for your sewer and you need waste to go uphill. Thats where the sewer pump comes in. Sewer pumps, lift stations, grinder pumps, sump pumps, etc. are all very similar in nature. Check this video out to learn more about how a plumbing sewer pump works.
Thank you so much for this, I have been watching videos and everyone seems to go around the basics.
Clearly an honest and well spoken fellow
Very helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to create it. 👍🇺🇸
Great video. I have similar pump and basin installation. I always wondered if anybody else had the issue with fat and grease gathering and how to get rid of it. That's exactly what I do- get in there and scrape it off the wall and float.
INSTALL kitchen grease trap, then you can scrap grease off in the kitchen instead of smelling shit while doing the chore.
NOW I understand how those floats work - thank you!
Happy to help
Thank you so much you have explained it so clearly😊
awesome !!!!!! thankyou for the Masterclass
What is this product called Im in florida and have a pool house i need to pipe to 160 feet but only about 2 feet lift. One it gets pass 20 feet the gravity should
Take it the rest of the way
why would one use this vertical discharge unit with 18" riser kit vs the horizontal unit that they sell for an outdoor install? Seems like the horizontal one is better for outdoor usage.
Great information. Thank you for making this video. I peeked into my lift system as I would like to install a 2" wye and plug to slip a locating line into it. Our field is probably 400 feet away and uphill 20 feet.I imagine that there is a backcheck valve in there somewhere. Would it be possible to send a metal fishtape up 100 feet without doing any damage?
No , it won't hurt it.
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC Thank you
do you have a link for that pump?
if these are pushing uphill, say 10 feet up and 100 horozontal feet.. That is like 20 gallons of liquid in the ejection side. Half the container. You'd need a check valve to keep it from backflowing into the tank i assume. Do the lines need to be below the frost line then?
Yes, you need a ball valve, a check valve, and a union. And yes, you need to protect it from freezing.
@garystango I live in northern WI. We have a 400 foot run and 20 feet uphill. We rely on the snow to "insulate " the pipe. Never run it under a driveway. No problem in the 4 years I've been here.
Is that system in this video the liberty pumps provore 380, 1 horse power, grinder pump ?
Very helpful thank you
You're welcome!
How far uphill can it pump? What is the rise with a single pump, to a station or holding tank?
that pump is only 25 feet straight up. But they have bigger ones
Maybe you can answer a question for me, I am in the process of installing a 2" pipe from a detached garage I just built and I have to put in a gravity pump system, the pipe is approximately 140' long, my 4" septic tank main in front of the house is only 6" below the ground and I really need to install my 2" much lower. Approximately 2' lower, once the pump kicks on can it push the liquid up that 2' of pipe through the septic T ?
Those pumps can handle that and a lot more
What about an alarm that would tell you if the pump has run for longer than it should?
Where can I buy this system? I'm in Texas. Also would I need 2 systems if I have 2 bathrooms I'm pumping? I built a 2 bed 2bath spot for my parents they live separately. Thoughts?
You have to get it through a plumbing supplier. You can go to liberty pumps website.
I have a question. I have an rv and the septic it’s uphill like 150 feet long. Does it works for that ?
yes
Hi and thanks for posting. So would you be pumping into field lines?
Quick question how do I fix the float cord, my pump is not working. But when connect the pump cord straight to the power it does works.
your float has probably gone bad and needs to be replaced. you can buy just that
You should explain how it gets installed
Cost of system and install? Looks nice.
I'm installing a Pro380 Liberty pump. Should I put it on a 15 or 20 amp breaker?
I would go for a 20 amp
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC
With 12 gauge romex?
I put a dedicated 20 amp circuit and it works perfect.
Does the outdoor outlet have to a specific amp rating? Or wire rating.....like #12 or #14 romex? Getting ready to run an outlet for liberty pump (I think 3/4HP). Thanks
You need a dedicated 20 amp service for that size of a pump.
Hi there, will you please let me know what brand system this is and where to order it?
It's Liberty pump. They have a web site Libertypumps.com. But I don't think they will sell direct. You will have to go to a plumbing supplier.
About to have one of these installed for the first time on a build, the model I ordered discharges out of the side of the basin though. Are there any advantages/disadvantages of the vertical discharge? My Discharge line will be buried 12" deep so I just assumed I needed the side discharge...Thanks for the insight!
how is your system doing?what model number ?
I need to pump 180 ft with one 90 degree turn slightly uphill to septic .would this system work
liberty pumps has an online calculator
Could you show the inside of the box?
The alarm? I'm going to do a new series soon that will show how to wire up the alarms.
How long do they run for?
Mine burned I think and just bought it.
They should last 20 years or better. check your floats
Do you have to vent the unit it’s self
Yes, if it is inside it needs a dedicated vent through the roof. outside you can vent it in the riser
is the other pipe for a vent? if not is this pump vented ?
yes, it's a vent
Where can u find this pumps
any plumbing supply house.
How high can the sewage get piped up? Meaning can it bring cellar water one or two stories up to the septic tank inlet? Thanks. (I suppose I'd need a couple of check valves.)
It can push straight up 50 feet.
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC You are awesome!! Thank you! This really relieves a major concern of mine!
That's a good pump there, because I have one and and it will pump a Hoover d a m
Hi, where can I find the pump for sale
A plumbing supply house. Most of them will sell to the public. Your run of the mill hardware store isn't going to have them.
Liked the video. Good presentation. What is your name? What is the product name? How much does it cost? Where can it be bought? Where are you located? You could put all of this helpful information below the video and it would be very much appreciated. Thanks! This is intended as positive feedback. In addition to this, on a matter of "we can go to the moon and mars, why can't we build a sewage system that handles grease and other foreign objects," looks like there is a great opportunity for somebody to "build a better crap trap" than what's available. I'm quite serious about this: when somebody can accidentally "take out" a 1 or 2 thousand dollar pump with 3 or 4 baby wipes, there is something seriously wrong with the design. This is not my area of expertise (at all--as you can tell), but I can't believe these so-called "powerful systems" need to be so blasted delicate and fragile! You should build the better system and get rich off of it!
$1000 to $2000 grinder pumps can shred baby wipes. Cheaper $500 units like this one can't. You'd have to be really stupid to spend an extra $1500 on a unit because people that live with you are so damn stupid they can't learn what not to flush. There is not a very big market for stupidity and expensive products. Now cheap and stupid is a better core audience
@@rollandelliott Or you would have to be a complete idiot to think that you can control what people who visit your home can or will put down a toilet.
Im actually looking for what the name is in English
Thanks for the info
Bought one at Menards, keeps plugging up on toilet paper.
uh .. I think you got the wrong pump. It needs to be a grinder pump.
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC that's what it is. 700.00 grinder pump. Pissing me right off.
wow , those thing should eat through almost anything. except baby wipes and feminine products.
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC I am installing a toilet and sink in detatched garage.will this pump 200 feet with 1( 90) degree turn?also have a septic tank with another tank for water to get pumped to field lines.afraid macerated sewage fill flow into the liquid tank from the poop tank.would just a regular sewage pump without the macerater be fine?
People need to know the difference between a Sewage Pump & Grinder Pump. Both can displace fecal materials. The Grinder Pump 4 times the cost. The blades in time dull. The Grinder Pump is higher maintenance in long haul. Don’t buy until you do your research with Pump Manufacturer since both types have specifications with limitations. Just remember mechanical vs gravity will be failing in time. As a retired Master Plumber with 45 years experience people frustrated in these comments should know if not maybe future owners of these pumps will do their homework and realize gravity is better and overcoming elevation’s pumping is your only option.
Very good pump. What is name
It a Liberty ..PRG101A I think
@@PlumbingSolutionsLLC thanks 😊
