You're right - people always do ask for likes but to be honest, I (and I assume most others) usually forget until you ask and I did it so it does work. Nice demo!
Man, that first bit with the Tubescreamer was beautiful
I've been kicking around the idea of picking up one of these if I came across a used one at the right price! Good timing!
Just picked up the pedal baby. Can't wait to hear it through my Marshall origin 2x12 cab. I bought the Marshall origin 50w head, but it's been backordered over a month and I couldn't wait! ;)
Best guitar channel on youtube! Love cheers💚
Ah man, what a great comment!! Thank you so much!! :)
100%!
Great review! I'm surprised there aren't more options along these lines by now. We continue seeing new tube amp models released almost monthly, but the options for Class A/B solid state power amps continue to be limited. With the proliferation of modelers and profilers over the past 5+ years, it's bewildering to me.
the clean and TS tone are very Creed-like
The mooer micro preamps sound awesome into this
Hey man thanks so much for the video, I’ve been going back and forth on what poweramp to put with my tonex/cab and this really sealed the deal for me on the pedal baby, picking it up tomorrow.
I think you made the right choice! Have you tried it out yet? Are you happy with it?
@@JakeLeighGuitar yes it sounds killer, I have the pedal baby going into a 1960a cab, which I eventually would love to put 2 v30’s into. Gets as loud as my friends 120 watt bugera head.
@@Colinrisley I’ve recently picked up another 1960a with V30s in an X pattern so I think that’s a great idea! Glad you like it. Definitely more then enough volume!
@@ColinrisleyI’ve got a pedal baby on layaway at a pawnshop and a kemper stage same cab you have I think 1960 a Marshall I’m playing thru a yorkville ps12p monitor at the moment.
I'm trying to choose between this and numerous class D options. What do you see as an advantage of an A/B power amp, besides losing less power with higher impedance loads? (which is presumably compensated by typically higher power ratings of equally sized class D amps). Some kind of difference in their frequency response? Less noise? I'm new to pedalboard amps, so your input would be very helpful.
I got this one and I returned it for a SD power stage.
The orange is perfect for PEDALS because its almost a CLEAN amp.
If you are going to use a modeler like a helix, headrush, quad cortex etc. the SD is better.
Depends on what you want. For a rock player, warm and smooth is better than hi-fi. I’ll take warm and smooth repro over hard and crisp any day. I want to have an amp in the room sound, not a recorded and mastered guitar sound.
thank you very much for the review! I ended up buying it because of it :) I am using it with an Ampero Stomp 2 plugging it into a Marshall Origin 212 A Cabinet (8 Ohm Mono). while I am very happy with the sound, it got extremely hot after playing with my band for like 2 hours. Is that normal?
I used this over the built in power amp from my kemper and it made my British amp profiles sound ridiculously life like.
Close your eyes and you wouldn’t know you weren’t actually strumming through a JCM 800 or Rockerverb.
Parted with it to downsize my rig but still a good buy that I recommend to every player.
HI! I have the kemper profiler stage, I tried a cheap final amplifier and actually the final result is not the best. Would you strongly recommend purchasing the pedal baby 100? Regarding the sound dynamics, does it work well?
Thank you
Awesome demo ! Quick question : when using the HX Stomp with this, do you use full amp blocks, or just preamp blocks ?
Thanks, keep it rocking !
Hi, sorry, just saw this. Thanks! I use the full amp blocks when using the PB. I find it’s transparent enough that it works best this way. If I’m running into a valve amp’s effects return though, I always just use the pre amp blocks. Hope that helps!
Great video, Jake! I was wondering if you've tried using the Pedal Baby with any kind of modeler for bass.
I just purchased a Quad Cortex and a lot of the time I think I'll be playing at home and plugged into my PC with the QC as an audio interface, but I'm looking for a power amp solution to play into cabs when jamming with friends. I have seen lots of guitar content on this power amp, but haven't seen a lot of bass stuff yet.
Aweome video. Love my pedal baby. I use a joyo preamp house with it. Do you happen to know how much the input of the PB can handle ? Im just curious how loud a signal can input safely into the pedal baby heh😅
Thanks so much and thanks for the comment. The pedal baby takes line level or instrument level signal. As long as you use of those you should be fine. I use my HX Stomp set to line level and have never had any clipping issues.
Orange should make a pedal sized version of the pedal baby.
I agree, I think that'd sell really well. I'd love to have everything all on one board in one place for gigs.
hi, would the pedal baby be like running your distortion pedals throught a effects loop of a amp? Because if it is I want one, especially to use with my metal zone.
Yeah, that’s exactly how I treat it. It works perfectly for that kind of thing. If you decide to go for it, I’d love to hear what you think of the Metal Zone through it.
@@JakeLeighGuitar Awesome, the pedal baby is next on my list then😁
Its actually a little cooler than that imo it basically allows you to tone stack a pre amp section since you're running it through the front of the circuit instead of after the output so that your pedals basically become a pre amp section the difference is that through a regular fx loop the signal is your whole power amp section with caps and filters and by passes the pre amp out but this one lets you tone stack your pedals circuits BEFORE the signal reaches any caps filters or mosfets in the power amp circuit
You're going into the input of the power amp section instead of adding on top this makes it to where if you have say a OD pedal with pre amp tubes the actual gain on the pedal will increase the master volume of the whole rig and you can get tube break up from your pedal tubes in the same way as a regular tube amps will tube distort and since you can swap out pedals its like having an amp with a modular pre section
I think its cool because it gives you an idea of what would happen if you built your own amp from scratch with custom circuits but it makes it plug and play so you don't have to solder and wire everything up yourself
I don't have one of these yet but my suspicion is that the best way to use this would be to tone stack some pedal circuits with gain/distortion down at 7 o clock and use the level of the pedal as your master volume and crank it to your desired volume THEN add your favorite TS9, Ratt, REVV or whatever with your favorite settings at the end of the signal chain
Kemper stage with pedal baby thru 412 Marshall 👍
Oh! Back from the Beach already! 😅
Would this work, with say a synergy preamp module? I can’t seem to find a combo amp for around the house that i like so i was thinking of just making my own. A 1x12 cab along with a synergy preamp of my choice, but i need to power it. Any recommendations?
I was just looking into this myself the other day. As far as I could tell, this will work with a Synergy docking station and a module. The Pedal Baby doesn’t have an effects loop though, so it looks like you would have to run the amp out from the Synergy straight into the front input of the Pedal Baby.
How do you think it would go running a Randall 20h diavlo through it?! Ive used my 30w micro diezel through it but thats solid state
Can you connect this to FOH
I have a pre amp peavy rock master. Could I run it with the pedal baby and it should work?
It’ll definitely work. I tried it with one of the new high gain TC Electronic preamps recently and it sounded really good.
Stupid question maybe, I’m thinking of switching from analog pedals to a line six helix or pod go. At the moment I run my drive pedal through the front of the amp and all my other effects in the fx loop after the amp. If I was wanting todo this with a setup like this would the pedalbaby do this? Alternatively I’ve see the Blackstar amped which has a fx loop but then I assume I wouldn’t be able to make use of the Helix amp modelling… any advice would’ve be appreciated dude.
Hey, not a stupid question at all. You don’t need an effects loop on the orange because it’s just the power amp section. The reason you do it on your current amp is so you can make use of your amp’s pre amp. You’ll be adding that in front virtually with the Helix/Pod Go. You can run straight into the power section of the Amped One too by going straight into the effects return.
I have the Pedal Baby and the Amped One and out of the two I would pick the Orange for the way you want to set your rig up. In fact my main live rig is a Helix into the Orange and I love it (literally uploaded a video today on my channel talking about how I set it up if you’re interested) But both the Amped and Pedal Baby are good and I don’t think you’d be disappointed with either. Hope that makes sense and helps! Anything else you want to know just ask 😊
Hi, can i run a marshall dsl20 head through the pedal baby so to get more volume???
Hi, the only way I would say you could safely do this is if you were to run into something like a TwoNotes Captor first and then send the line out to the Pedal Baby.
You don’t need a load on the head when using the emulated line out which is cool, but I think that signal has a Celestion IR built in which you can’t turn off, so that probably won’t sound great through a Pedal Baby and cab.
Lastly you could run a line from the effects send of the DSL20 to the PB, but you’d still probably need a load on the head and you won’t be getting the full benefit of the sound of the DSL’s power amp.
Hope that helps!
@@JakeLeighGuitar ah ok thanks mate so it would be better then just to run a joyo jackman through the pedalbaby
I like it's capabilities, but like other Orange stuff it's a bloody visual eye sore in their usual stupid colour theme, I'm not into it being so brightly coloured, if I do end up buying one first thing I'd do is instantly improve it's corny paint colour and stop giving the clowns free public advertising, sounds like a pretty decent product though so far, I'm not even happy with the other contender in the brushed aluminium finish....must be matt black or satin black only
You're so metal, brah.
@@Kathayne636 Yah!!! ya right! no sissy bitch orange colour for this kid...wot's next? pretty pink!!!!
@@Kathayne636 If he was he would know that the Dual Dark Terror is the most metal looking amp ever made. As Jdawg would say I think this guy is lacking that roughness and tuffness
