And they kinda turn into the only people you talk to. 😂
It's actually pretty sad the fact that me and many other 18year olds these days have to spend their first year of university in quarantine. I wish i had that experience of making friends at my first year as well... 😢
Actually, i feel like that for everything. I met my best friend in 2nd grade (at elementary school) and we are stuck togheter for life by now. My other best friend, i met him in middle school. No one other then the two of them stayed, so yeah.
Funnily enough, I feel like the last two years I was in school was when I really connected to my classmates and we became a big group of friends. I went to uni for seven years in total (one year was an internship) cuz I changed my major three years in. Those last two years out of the seven were my favourite even if they were pretty brutal.
Maybe you guys can try switching from autofocus to manual focus since you don't move too much in this kind of video so we don't see a HD mic, instead your pretty face in HD 😂
Diəgø Pauya Maybe cameras are all coded to avoid putting their faces in focus to prevent them from being the only two males in the world to attract females... Conspiracy theory 10/10
Can relate to Eddy's experience, last time I genuinely wanted to help someone was in high school during my last year then never again. Got my grade back for a paper just to see a 0 and then realizing it was probably the person I tried to help. Asked them what the plagiarism percentage was on their end and they didn't want to admit it. It has traumatized me till this day.
I want to study physics, but I also want to become a good violinist. I've played the violin for 9 years now, but I really want to become better haha. I hope I will have time to practice next to my physics studies. 😁
The story he told about plagiarism is almost exactly like what happened to me last week, except it was a set of 8 essays someone copied almost exactly. I got an honor code strike or whatever and it’s on my record now .. I know how it feels 😞👊
3RD YEAR MUSIC MAJ HERE! Reality is harsh for me too. I completely forgot who my friends are at this point. Practice has complete control over my life.
5:45 We called those masterclasses, and besides it being, like you said, a great performance opportunity, for those of us who were interested in teaching specifically, it was such a great opportunity. Listen to your peers play and give suggestions right in front of your teacher, where they can confirm whether or not your suggestions were valuable and made sense. So great to participate in for performing and great to participate in for teaching practice as well. A lot of the people in my studio hated getting up and performing and also were so hesitant to make any comments at all, which is their loss. That's pretty much the best thing I can recommend for forming confidence in your interpretative opinion.
@@vunessuh I was just thinking that! I think they use a DSLR for their videos, right? And I wondered if it works the same as with stills. But they'd need more light with a narrow aperture. Still, I always wonder if my internet bandwidth is going down when I watch these types of videos where they have the mic in front of them.
OMG, I thought that the practice room situation was just my school's thing! Tiny, sound-proof rooms that you could barely fit a stand in that were always hot, because of the one obnoxiously bright light that was near your head, and always smelled vaguely of b.o. and mildew. There were always discarded things from other peoples' instruments and empty bags of chips in the corner (shout-out to the brave soul that was practicing while eating flaming hot cheetos all the time: I know that your instrument stayed getting dirty on the daily).
I got so lucky that my main music campus had a brand new arts building when I went there, our practice rooms were BEAUTIFUL Only thing is one day it got so hot in the building that the doors expanded in their frames and one of my classmates got stuck in a room and had to call the fire department to get her out 😂
'Dreams' Brett: "I aspired to be a Violin Soloist when I entered Music Uni." *Few minutes later* 'Harsh Reality' Brett:"I ended up practicing the Viola on my first week of Music Uni." *Sips a cup of coffee*
I really enjoy these type of videos where y'all just talk about how school was for you two, and life in general. You don't really get any type of information on what going to college/university is like until you actually experience it for yourself so I thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
6:59 As someone who performs with many different things, I can testify to this. You don't ever really get over performance anxiety, but you CAN get used to it. I still get butterflies before competitions/performances even after a good many years doing them, but it doesn't faze me *as much* anymore. (Of course, there's always that one day that it slips through and you just freak out XD)
I thought I was ok being at grade 7 on the piano at 13 Eddy: did his LMUS at 13. Also Eddy: praising child prodigies and think he's not good enough. Also also Eddy: makes me feel like a piece of shit.
It's very amazing to see how people know what they want clearly at a young age. I've graduated from uni for a year, totally hated my major, and right now I still don't know what'll I do to make me enjoy my life.
Aaak your lie in April imagery. Brett as Kousei + Eddy as Ryota ughhh my heart. I've always wanted to know what it is like in music uni so thank you both👍
I am a med student, first year - and i am very thankful to you guys for saying everything you did. Especially the part about "but I get nervous - well, that's the point". I have so much opportunity for a real med practice now (however everybody told me otherwise - on my first practice I did more than everybody could ever imagine, and that is just because I asked doctors for mentorship and was initiative). And the biggest thing that stops mme from going further now is fear, nervousness. You really changed my mindset just by this saying - that is THE POINT! Thank you.
8:00 hehe my university has amazingly clean practice rooms and are well maintained BUT there's literally only 15 rooms for a department of like 200 and everyone wants to practice between the hours of 1pm and 5pm.
Take care of yourselves everyone!! Eat food, sleep well! I didn't, and my whole first year was bad. Mentally, physically, musically. We were assigned to play at least once a year in masterclasses. Even music Ed.
PSA for Uni kids!!! You can reference using Microsoft Word and it will automatically format it for you, according to the format you need :) (Didn’t learn anything from referencing though, but picking the right phrase from the reference passage will help you identify what the paper is all about! Tips for studying 🤓)
As a literature major, I may have actually freaked out hearing you rant about referencing. You know how frustrating it is to read an essay and want to find the work referenced...and have a bad freaking reference??? Especially if you're working on a research project? There are websites that will format the info for you. Word will format it for you. For the love of all things good and holy, references are important! K, rant over. All said and done, replace 'practice' with 'study' and all the sudden these stories all sound really familiar. I guess university is university, whatever the degree, whatever the country.
Listening about the dirty practice rooms... The music hall where we study normally was for a year and a half in renovation and we were all at this old school building where the air was so horrible teachers and students had issues breathing, I couldn't sing and I felt the mold in my lungs, it was a great time. Also you could hear what people were practicing on the whole floor, or the floor below or above even, there was no sound insulation whatsoever. Then we went back to the music hall it was fully renovated but you are not allowed to open the windows so you don't unbalance the ventilation system, and then every Monday when you open the door of the theory classroom the air is so "thick" and humid some people can't handle it. Some practice classrooms also have the same issue.
Same thing as what Brett and Eddy said, (as a voice performance major) always don’t be afraid to fail falling forward, never be afraid to take chances and GO EMBRACE EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY. I simply cannot state how important it is.

Maybe you guys can try switching from autofocus to manual focus since you don't move too much in this kind of video so we don't see a HD mic, instead your pretty face in HD 😂
How do you know they’re pretty? We never get to see them sharp :P
@@kavertia6261 yeah right HAHAHA
@@kavertia6261 Maybe they do it on purpose so we dont see their beutyfull faces
Maybe their ugly irl 😂
Diəgø Pauya Maybe cameras are all coded to avoid putting their faces in focus to prevent them from being the only two males in the world to attract females...
Conspiracy theory 10/10
Eddy: When there were no practise rooms I would just practice outside
Me: *cries in piano*
Can relate to Eddy's experience, last time I genuinely wanted to help someone was in high school during my last year then never again. Got my grade back for a paper just to see a 0 and then realizing it was probably the person I tried to help. Asked them what the plagiarism percentage was on their end and they didn't want to admit it. It has traumatized me till this day.
can't trust anyone these days.
I would've kapowed their balls
I'm a physics major and I still am firm in my belief that music theory is the hardest subject to learn ever
Different people are good at different things. I know, insane revelation!
I'm a chemist and I can relate.
I went to music school with people who were also physic majors and chemistry majors. After graduation, they were probably happier with their choices.
@@hornkraft9438 I would love to try taking Music as a second degree.
I want to study physics, but I also want to become a good violinist. I've played the violin for 9 years now, but I really want to become better haha. I hope I will have time to practice next to my physics studies. 😁
next video in this series: talk about your time as concertmasters for your youth orchestras! flex a little, guys!
lol i'm going to music uni next year, can't wait for my dreams to be crushed
I just want to enter in music University but the one I want is soooooo Hard!
Is no one gonna talk about Brett's smirk at 0:52?? Because that's what you call ~swoon-worthy~
The story he told about plagiarism is almost exactly like what happened to me last week, except it was a set of 8 essays someone copied almost exactly. I got an honor code strike or whatever and it’s on my record now .. I know how it feels 😞👊
So early that Ling Ling has only practiced 39 hours
Vermillion Music
Impossible!
Actually who is ling ling? I always wonder
I joined music uni on the *violin* major program perfomance and played (since i was accepted to uni) the *viola* .
*the story of my life*
oh my god 💀

zeynep covers happened to me :(
I'm the only violin major at my uni (admittedly a very small music school) who can read Alto clef so I have to do this all the time 😅😭😩
@@kaelven380 poor you :(
3RD YEAR MUSIC MAJ HERE! Reality is harsh for me too. I completely forgot who my friends are at this point. Practice has complete control over my life.
Rip qinni
"We went into music uni with a clear vision of what we wanted", when he said that I was distracted by the bad focus lol we need clear vision too guys
15:00 Eddy is like “Wtf are u doing bro” “oh ok I’ll just play along”
Guys don't trust Autofocus on your video camera because it often focuses on the microphone and you guys end up being blurry.
Poor Eddy having his assignment plagarised....
Happened to me once in high school and I got blamed for it :/.
*What it's Really Likr Studying Music in University:*
1. _Music Theory, Music Theories everywhere_
"You come into uni, thinking you're the best and then you quickly get humbled by reality" - Maaaaaan! This is sooooo true!!! 😔😌
The camera focuses on the mic instead of Brett and Eddy because they didn't practice 40 hours today
I like your talk but maybe focus the camera a bit better because now only your mycrophone is in sharp focus.. 😊
They need to narrow the aperture
"Welcome to oneset microphone, we've got two permanent guesses speaking in the background. Enjoy"
😂
Thomas Vervoort shit's expensive 🤷🏽♀️
Who gives a fuck?! Are really here to gawk at their faces?
@@vunessuh I was just thinking that! I think they use a DSLR for their videos, right? And I wondered if it works the same as with stills. But they'd need more light with a narrow aperture. Still, I always wonder if my internet bandwidth is going down when I watch these types of videos where they have the mic in front of them.

Seems like someone didn’t PRATICE English enough.
白刀 Don’t you mean *practise*
DAMN I LAUGHED SO HARD XD PRATICE
Come on now, they are music majors after all 😂😂
Neither did you. Oof
@@ewano8744 isn't it *practice* ?
OMG, I thought that the practice room situation was just my school's thing! Tiny, sound-proof rooms that you could barely fit a stand in that were always hot, because of the one obnoxiously bright light that was near your head, and always smelled vaguely of b.o. and mildew. There were always discarded things from other peoples' instruments and empty bags of chips in the corner (shout-out to the brave soul that was practicing while eating flaming hot cheetos all the time: I know that your instrument stayed getting dirty on the daily).
I got so lucky that my main music campus had a brand new arts building when I went there, our practice rooms were BEAUTIFUL
Only thing is one day it got so hot in the building that the doors expanded in their frames and one of my classmates got stuck in a room and had to call the fire department to get her out 😂
As a music major student in university: 🤩
As a graduated student in music: 💀
*Cries in corner*
Thing to do with a music degree: Die in poverty.
So are you selling insurance now or working in a retail shop?
Horn Kraft What makes you think that she would get a job with music degree lol
Was it worth it tho
'Dreams'
Brett: "I aspired to be a Violin Soloist when I entered Music Uni."
*Few minutes later*
'Harsh Reality'
Brett:"I ended up practicing the Viola on my first week of Music Uni."
*Sips a cup of coffee*
I really enjoy these type of videos where y'all just talk about how school was for you two, and life in general. You don't really get any type of information on what going to college/university is like until you actually experience it for yourself so I thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
You guys should do more story times! It's really chill and relaxing to listen
"I had dreams to be a soloist"
child prodigy: "I'm about to destroy this whole man's career"
6:59
As someone who performs with many different things, I can testify to this. You don't ever really get over performance anxiety, but you CAN get used to it. I still get butterflies before competitions/performances even after a good many years doing them, but it doesn't faze me *as much* anymore. (Of course, there's always that one day that it slips through and you just freak out XD)
How true!
please handsome sit closer to the camera!the mic is more clear than you two these days
We had dreams to become classical musicians but now we have memes (and merch) .
And tour. Lol
I thought I was ok being at grade 7 on the piano at 13
Eddy: did his LMUS at 13.
I've always wanted to know what it is like in music uni so thank you both👍
You should look at some Adam Neely videos on his music degree and masters experience.
I really enjoy your story time vids. Even for nonmusicians like me, your stories are relatable. Keep 'em coming, please. ☺️
I think the phrase “some subjects are questionable” pretty much just sums up uni 100% 😂
”some people meet the love of their life”
Brett touching Eddy's shoulder and slowly dragging his hand down
Also him: *next fanfiction idea*
😂😂😂😂
yeeesss exacktly!!! ahahah I loved that Part too
I am a med student, first year - and i am very thankful to you guys for saying everything you did.
OMG Eddy the plagiarism part I FEEL YOU.
"You come into uni thinking you're the best and then you quickly get humbled by reality."
damn truer words have never been spoken :(
I love how the camera is just focused on the mic the entire time
4:54 Brett is so cute sipping his tea😪
Take care of yourselves everyone!! Eat food, sleep well! I didn't, and my whole first year was bad. Mentally, physically, musically.
We were assigned to play at least once a year in masterclasses. Even music Ed.
"I got my L-Mus when I was 13." You're a total Ling Ling!!! I was only at 7th grade!
PSA for Uni kids!!! You can reference using Microsoft Word and it will automatically format it for you, according to the format you need :)
(Didn’t learn anything from referencing though, but picking the right phrase from the reference passage will help you identify what the paper is all about! Tips for studying 🤓)
There are a bunch of different websites, too, that will also format references for you.
I did a degree in Biomedical Science and a post-grad in Molecular Medicine and THE REFERENCING...!!!!! I hear you
15:00 Me : What The.. OMGGGG
Eddy : "OMG I ship Brett and Eddy so much !"
Shit.
yeah they got me in the first half ngl lol
I went to art uni to design and we had critique every friday. I was really helpful! I also highly recommend regardless of your art or music field
Thanks for taking time away from your traditional dream (?) job to make videos for us! 💕
Same. As a linguist, I hate when people don't reference correctly because then I have to do so much extra work to find their sources. Ahhh!!!
