Kim made her glam team part of her identity and was very clear that she never did her own make-up. As soon as Mario launched his brand people were like, if I want her look I’ll go to her make-up artist
Totally...I get why the Klan released everything under their own drands 💲💲💲but I would have much more exited if they backed up the talented artists to launch a brand first time
You could tell Mario advised her with her brand but it made more sense for him to come with hus own since this is his lane. Notice how hers closed down as his came up? I wouldn't be surprised if she's some sort stakeholder on the low
Exactly. I’ve never seen Kim do her own make up. I doubt she even asks how or why the make up is being done in a certain way or what they are using because she’s just too busy tossing that salad.
I just started going to Beauty School to become a licensed nail tech and one thing I’ve never noticed until now is people giving credit to receivers of services for how good it is!!! WTF!!! Kim is the queen of WEARING contour but it’s Mario’s magic. “Hailey Bieber Nails” ?? Like, no!! It’s Zola Ganzorigt Nails. We name clothes by their designer, why do we name beauty by its wearers?
As an esthetician in beauty school I’ve noticed some of the same things! If my instructor is checking my client and compliments their skin for how glowy it is, it’s usually a thank you! But I’ve also had a few friends who are clients who do give me the credit for doing their brows/lashes
Also it is very interesting that as a beautician/technician your skills are judged on your lashes nails etc., that most likely have been done by someone else 😅
@@TheBwil32It's a particularly insidious thing though. I don't use any makeup products and never will. I don't buy anything where the marketing exploits women's insecurities.
@@TheBwil32 Yeah, I just don't know why heiresses who were born on home plate with a billion bucks in each hand had to wet their beaks - I mean, other than the obvious, narcissism and greed.
I never really followed the Kardashian/Jenner clan but it reallyyyy freaked me out how she went from teenage Kylie to this completely different face/brand Kylie almost overnight. I look at old pictures of her and can’t even process how she went from that to this. Zero hate, just genuine bafflement.
Her face is a brand. And she's 25? That face has a lot of road ahead to fill and she's already undermined the natural structures in it. Interesting to hear her start murmuring about the unrealistic beauty standards the family have been consciously involved in not just passive observers. I think surgery stops being effective at some point because the face can only handlebar much
@@LizaFlahertyArtist it makes me sad she's clearly gotten fillers which stretches ur skin out at such a young age which will probably feed the cycle of more procedures to eventually correct that and so on and so forth. it really makes me never wanna get more done than light botox in my life, too many things can go wrong when u start messing with ur face
@@BeccasaurousRex270 its so irresponsible someone filled her face so much so young, that stretches her young skin out and is prob gonna be corrected with more procedures eventually and so on and so forth
@@LizaFlahertyArtist I know what you mean! I only recently found out that Botox and fillers stop being effective after a while. I think it was Stephanie Lange’s video about aging, she quoted Courtney cox saying she started getting work done in her late 20s and it ruined her face. I’m 35 and have been considering both but I’m gonna wait to see if I “need” it or if my mindset toward my own beauty changes lol Although with Kylie I don’t think it’s just fillers. I think she’s had a ponytail facelift and some chiselling done cause honestly her face is a completely different shape.
Proud to say I have never given a single dime to a kardashian , nor have I ever watched a single second of their content. That’s pretty incredible because it’s literally everywhere. I have a great reaction time shutting them off ;) I even get beauty box subscriptions and yet have never received a single product. I guess they don’t put their stuff into sub boxes?
Good for you yay.. I never beloved into them either they are such frauds and liars and thief's.. Crooks slut's priorities are being prostitutes... Disgusting women..
Never believed in them. They deserve no respect because they all have said they have no respect for any of us people that don't count for nothing. That's what i have heard that's what they say about fans and that their fans are so annoying. . Isn't that nice if them... I don't think so and they should not deserve to get anyone's hard earned money... Just look at them they are such trash and narcissist..
I'm with you. I'd not give a single penny to the fakest family I've ever seen. They have a very dark history & people forget that (citing OJ Trial & Mr. K himself) & if not for that, the majority of people would not know or care about them let alone be purchasing on the word of teenagers that are pros at plastic surgery already.
I think the disconnect is this: most people buying their products were fans of them, but if you're an avid makeup user who knows the value of makeup and how it works, those folks weren't buying the products. From there, the fans who began to realize they were overpaying for a name, quit buying as well.
It’s weird though bc I feel like the majority of ppl who watch/follow them wouldn’t even consider themselves fans per se - like a lot of their audience “hate watch” or watch like you’d watch a train wreck. So I don’t feel like that necessarily translates to buying their products.
@TheAudraReins yes. Her prob is she's the face of brand. Her brand is very 2015, heavy contour, m/u, matte lip & skin. But trend is dewy, clean skin. Her look is dated now. Her fans have grown up. She needs to pivot and change w/ her fans. She's lower maintenance BC she's a mom now. If she can't adapt, she'll lose market share & her fans will b looking elsewhere
I think the main problem with the Kardashian brands is that they’re all about the marketing but put little effort into the actual product. People are starting to see that everything the Kardashians put out are just cash grabs, and they don’t have as much faith in their brands anymore.
To be quite honest, for the young girls, I’m glad the era of “looking fake” is passing. It’s hard enough growing up as it is without trying to fit into unrealistic standards. Hell, I struggled with their standards and had to remind myself they use surgeons, filters, etc. I hope vintage, real beauty comes back. Where it’s ok to have a wrinkle. 🥰
unfortunately its not gone and never will be, its just a new kind of fake now, the no makeup makeup" fake which is actually harder to pull off and might lead to more plastic surgery in the long run.
lol no it's getting WORSE, the whole entire 'no makeup makeup look' heavily relies on botox/filler/surgery to look good, there's also a lot of classism involved and cosmetic surgery is more popular than ever before, same thing with BBLs and stuff. Girls at 20 are hosting botox parties, this is becoming the norm now, I see 8 year olds online wanting anti-aging skincare products.
I really don't understand why so many women with already nice skin shovel on all this foundation, contour and excessive amounts of makeup. I remember laughing at all the girls in the 90's who's faces were a totally different color than their necks 😂. I never got into the full face makeup thing, I'm an artist so I did have fun with my eye makeup, which at that time had me treated like a freak or weirdo...lol Now that I'm in my 40s I don't bother with the crazy eyes anymore, having only one good eye has forced me to do things a bit more simply and in a different way than b4. Now days my idea of heavy makeup would include a cover up for dark under eye rings when I'm not feeling well, an eye primer, mascara, a dark liquid liner, maybe a little eye shadow and very subtle blush...and a lightly tinted lip color that basically matches my lips natural color, but makes it more even and not dry. On a light makeup day it's often just mascara and lip balm. It's nice that ppl are starting to go for a more natural look, but I think that most ppl should really stop using so much product for a "natural" look. For one: most men can't really tell when a woman is wearing the "natural look" but are still wearing lots of makeup that changes the way they would naturally look. This is leading to a generation of men who think that women without makeup on like the women with the "natural look makeup" are the real natural beauty standard, thus judging the women who are actually going more natural to be viewed as not good looking. It's setting yet another false beauty standard that straight men can't usually discern. You see it a lot in the "trad wife" thing, they talk about natural beauty and modesty but they wear about the same amount of makeup it's just more subtle colors. I honestly think that this will lead young girls to judge themselves even harder when they compare their natural face to a woman who is wearing a bunch of makeup that's just not bright colors. I also think it will be damaeging for the young men who are not used to seeing reality. Much like the women with inplants and other work done, wearing heavy makeup and acting in porn...porn is not a good example of what a real woman is going to be like, or want to do, but young inexperienced guys watch all this shit online and then project those things onto the women they date...or their standards are so out of sink with reality that they will never find a woman that lives up to their delusional fantasy, not to mention that they don't take into consideration that they would never get that #10 hot chick that's mostly fake to start with. This sort of thing is and will continue to cause more negativity and division between the sexes.
Kardashians have the ability to make their products INCREDIBLE & yet they chose to produce nothing but cash grabs. It is disappointing, & it says a lot about their mindset
NO! It says a lot about the people who buy their products . If you think they are interested in quality, you are kidding yourself .I remember the clothing line with Sears cheep quality and not fashionable. With them, it's all about the money because they know that people will buy it.
Even with zero complaints or issues with any Kardashian or Jenner brands, regardless of the product, I feel like it's hard to trust anything they say. They lie about everything all of the time. Even when it's not necessary
Hoping for a TooFaced video. I would LOVE one on Hard Candy. Hard Candy was top tier makeup in the 90s. It was exclusively sold in fancy department stores in the states. Now it's one, if not the, cheapest drug store brands. However they still make awesome high quality makeup. I'm so interested to know how that happened. I love this series
I used to work at Mecca (I live in Australia) and we did not sell much Kylie skin. We had it in-store but the only people who really bought it were die-hard fans who would literally only use Kylies stuff. Like we literally would show so many better options at lower prices, and not once was it something I recommended because they just don't perform.
Right? And “this would look better on Heather” immediately followed by “I spent so much time picking these colors” or whatever she said. Why would you make a pallet you can’t even use?
I think the disconnect with Kim is really palpable when you compare her passion for her makeup brand versus her shapewear brand. Kim lives and breathes in shapewear and a lot of people like the products. She expanded skintones and shapes to fit more people. Her shapewear brand makes sense. She has a passion for it. She's open about the old pictures with wrong color and ill-fitting shapewear. She saw a gap in her own shapewear needs so she filled that gap. Alternatively, she hasn't done her own makeup in years because she has a 24/7 glam team.
Between the rise of skincare during the pandemic and now Asian beauty + the fact that people don't feel the Kardashians relatable anymore I'm not surprised their brands are slowly dying. There's so many beauty brands nowadays that are excellent and affordable meanwhile the Kardashians still live in a bubble
This is it. They couldn't stay relevant because we're now looking for the real, effective products behind the marketing curtain. I did love seeing that shift away from full-face glam and towards skincare during quarantine. Not because I don't like makeup, but because it means that so many people were looking at their faces in the mirror and seeing their true, innate beauty - possibly for the first time. Focusing on what you have, rather than drawing someone else's features on is so good for building confidence. And that's just the opposite of what the Kardashian brand stood for
That’s how things have always been. They probably milked what they could while they’re famous. Just like thin brows were a thing and in ten years or so the opposite is the thing. Same will happen eventually Asian beauty too.
How did everyday regular 9-5 people find them relatable ever ? Doesn't Kim still hAve skims ? Isn't that still really popular ? I don't keep up with them or their brands at all but I thought skims were still a thing
The whole kardashian/jenner beauty empire seemed to be the definition of the "buy our products and you'll look like us!!" style of marketing, like they were really relying heavily on that to carry their brands, the quality of the products falling kind of low on the priority list. I think that people are less and less prone to falling for this kind of marketing, we all know at this point the degree to which people like kim kardashian and kylie jenner edit their photos/that they've probably had lots of work done, even if they deny it (which I think kylie does still deny having had cosmetic surgery).
Yeah remember Kylie’s swimwear? I didn’t hear a single positive review. It’s like they sit behind desks agreeing to products and have zero involvement beyond signing a piece of paper and doing a photoshoot.
I'm short and fat. I could bathe in lip kits while snacking on contour sticks, and still not look like them - and that's more than okay. I'd rather not look like a vapid moron. That kind of advertising is so toxic and harmful, and one of the myriads of reasons I can't stand the entire clan.
Your right! In fairness I think the only good kardashian makeup was that Mario pallet that was neutral with the blue I didn’t buy it it was gifted they are the definition of cash grab
Let's not forget that Kylie had another launch (near Valentine I think) with more lipsticks but completely stole the design from Trixie Matell's makeup line. The container was heart shaped just like Trixies, the colour theme and even the font.
@@alexandrarenee4323 In a video, Trixie applies her lip gloss before spotting a picture of Kylie’s Valentine’s lip glosses in the background and pausing with a confused look on her face. In the caption, she wrote: “Kylie I’m calling the police”. As a joke and then made a comment on her own post with the products with the caption: “Make sure you’re Keeping up with Trixie Cosmetics by giving us a follow 😉” - a reference to Kylie and her family’s show Keeping up with the Kardashians.
I find it strange how Kylie started her lipkits where the Lipliner and lipstick matched because she found it hard to find matching ones. Then now it’s reformulated, the Lipliner and lipstick don’t even match! All of the lipliners are brown and I was so disappointed when I purchased a new one of a favourite last year and realised there’s no point in actually buying the lipkits any more 🙃
"Do you like forklifts, Kylie?" Is maybe my favorite quote ever!! I never really understood the Kardashian/Jenner hype. So never felt the need to buy overprized products.
omg just noticed YOU REACHED 1 MILLION!!! We are all so proud of you Robert! you deserve it with the incredible content you put out time and time again! 🎉❤
I'm proud to say I've never used any of their products. I stayed away from even trying them out. I would never support these talentless beings that I was forced into knowing too much about 😅
4:16 while I don’t remember it being common for lipstick and liner to come together like every brand had a liner that matched their lipsticks you could buy separately
It wasn’t that Kylie was calling herself a billionaire, it was the “self made” part that pissed everybody off. Especially to people who actually are. I don’t buy the first batch of any beauty products for the exact reason as what happened with Kylie”s. Plus by then, the KarJens had already been involved in questionable endorsements and deals. How Kylie beat Kim to the makeup line parade has always baffled me. That she made that line without any advertising except her own Twitter was genius. Advertising is expensive! How much is Lancôme paying Julia Roberts, Dior and Charlize Theron etc. Twitter is free!
Hm, it was also her calling herself a billionaire tho bc.. she wasn't lol. How was she a billionaire before Rihanna? They bullshitted sales numbers and more or less tricked COTY into paying 600m for the 51% stake. Which is waaaay more than the company is worth. They're paying for it dearly because despite the rebranding/repackaging/relaunching, the sales aren't like they were in 2014-2018
It was all by design from her Momager. Kylie needed something of "her own" for her Momager to peddle for more money to make sure they KarJen train stains on the tracks.
There's no such thing as self made. Its just catchy. What about that coach, teacher, advisor, or someone who's mentored/took an interest in these people on their journey to become famous & successful athletes, scientists, millionaires? Success never occurs in a vacuum. Many people, resources, advisors helped you along the way. True, you may have had to put your name & create the products, but you had a legal team looking over contracts, investors. That were doing their job to support your way to being $$$.
Until now I’d forgotten that my youngest sister did the Kylie lip trend when she was younger and OH. MY. GOD. the video my mom has of her drooling and trying to talk is just hilarious. Poor baby looked like she’d put her mouth on a bee hive her lips were so swollen and even her inner lip pooched out so she had a duck face for about 3-4 hours until all that swelling went down 😅💀
"There is no soul" that's EXACTLY what it is with the Kardashian/Jenners! With their products (and the promotion of it) you feel no connection or passion whatsoever. I just don't feel like they made any effort in developing their makeup line and also, it is in no way worth the heafty price tag!
I’d love a deep-dive into Bobbi Brown and what happened - she left her own brand! And which Jones Road products might/defiantly are direct “reroutes” of Bobbi Brown formulas.
I asked a group of three ULTA employees once "Are the Kylie Lip Kits any good." All three visibly paused and then all said "Ehhh" in one of the funniest moments to me. It was that you could see they didn't want to say a product they sold was bad, but didn't want to lie. I never bought one. Recently, after years of never feeling comfortable in lipstick, I started just putting on lip balm, putting on lip liner, and just blending my liner into my lips. Looks so much more natural and comfortable to me.
I like a lot of the Lip Kit shades but the formula of the lipstick is so dry. It flakes off and becomes gross looking. After a bad experience, I never wore it again. I prefer the Sephora Lip Cream Stains which are affordable and not dry
@@thirstaefortae5057i own one lipkit, I really like the lipliner as it is really creamy and pigmented and it is certainly better than drugstore ones . That’s about it ig
@@thirstaefortae5057lmao these lips kips also came out during the “matte lip craze” 💀 from 2014-2017 where everyone wanted their lips dried down which i never understood because it just makes your lips look more cracky and creasy. I feel like these lip kits are definitely a product of the trend and the times.
Speaking of stealing , just noticed that the cover of the Artists’ book at 12:18 looks a lot like the same image Kylie used on the box of the original lip kits with the dripping liquid 🤦♀️ good grief, have these people no original ideas ??
I've never had an interest in the Kardashians but you never fail to make any topic enthralling, and this was no exception. Would love to see more deep dives!
I remember when Kylie's kits first came out, I was very very VERY new to makeup and believed that this brand was the first one to ever come out with lip liners that matched the lipsticks 🤣 I bought two kits and they dried out my lips like crazy, and thought that I MUST be doing something wrong or... maybe this is how liquid lipstick was supposed to feel like? My poor lips felt awful for like 6 months straight 😂
I worked at Ulta for the 2019 holiday season. One team up selling exercise we had was there was a basket full of items and a manager would pull one out and we would say what we’d recommend to go with it. Every single person in my group recommended a lip scrub because we all knew how drying the formula was. 😂
Robert saying that the Jenners and Kardashians aren't expressive reminded me of when I said that someone always looks like they're being made to say something while being held at gunpoint 😂. Wonderful video, as always, Robert!
yesssss, love this! I also think that now that we have Haus Labs and Rare Beauty, Fenty, etc. they’re celebrity brands but they’re actually good! and they are more inclusive and aren’t aimed at everyone wanting to look like them. so in comparison, which would we rather choose? who would we rather support?
When their fans have spent years buying their products only to realize they will never look like them because everything about them is plastic and fake, I think it creates resentment. Khloe and Kylie complain about the unattainable beauty standards as if they didn’t create it and profit from it. Their new show was suppose to be more transparent by showing their business side of things, it actually feels like a big advertisement for everyone’s products because the personal stuff feels very edited and scripted. They should just do a special admitting to all of the surgeries they have had and then end the show.
Completely agree. All they do is seemingly address "misconceptions" about themselves in their show, which is disingenuous considering they are always going to have the last word. They control the narrative and present the argument to put themselves in the best light. Denying their influence on people who are down on themselves for not living up to this beauty standard that they obtain by augmentation for one. They are surrounded by "yes men" who will never disagree with them or bring up legitimate concerns. I follow a UA-camr who points out these types of things, so then I watch the show to see what she's talking about and feel so disgusted with myself for "hate watching". They are so insulated in their out of touch bubble, yet seem so oblivious as to how out of touch they are. It comes across that if you want to be a successful influencer, you have to be willing to lie about literally everything, including things that can be fact checked.
Nailed it. It’s really refreshing to watch your videos. You are unapologetic, transparent and call it like you see it without being malicious. Keep shining!!
Absolutely love your vibes. Already giggling like 30 seconds in. Personally, I've never purchased one of their products and I would never purchase any of the family's products because of their Blackfishing and fetishizing Black culture while ignoring the realities of it except for a Pepsi commercial. The fact that the entire family has felt pressured to lose weight or have cosmetic surgeries as well, and that they photoshop their own children, just makes them awful people.
The thing that bothers me about the Kardashian and Jenner’s (and their ilk) is that these people have the money and security to do something-anything-they’re passionate about with a huge safety net. And you can’t tell me the things these people put out are the results of a genuine passion and desire to create something that reflects them.
Skims has a worse business rating than Shein so just another cash grab that's actually more aligned with Kim's brand but cheap, badly made, over priced products nonetheless.
I've always been very wary of purchasing makeup from people who have had a LOT of work done. I don't have a problem with what people do to their faces. But don't turn around and peddle products that mislead people into thinking the products gave you the results. I got a nose job. I would NEVER tell people I contour my nose. I got a nose job precisely so that I wouldn't have to contour. Fine if you don't want to be transparent but it's so disingenuous to lie to people to make money.
I’m seriously thinking of getting rhinoplasty. I have a bump on my nose that I’ve been insecure about since I first noticed it in the 3rd grade. How did your procedure go? Any advice?
@@AltClev37 it's worth it. Save your money. Shop around. Find a surgeon who is on the same page with you in terms of what your goals are. Don't look at celebrities as examples, they all have different facial structures. I wanted to look like myself just with a symmetrical nose. It's an hour and a half procedure, you need very little time for recovery.
Hi Robert - another great video in this series! Quick question…would you consider doing a sister video to this series where you discuss the brands that are successful and doing things right and why this is working (cost, inclusivity, good products, etc)?
I bought a Kylie eyeshadow palette & an eyeshadow quad a few years ago, and regretted it immediately. The quality does NOT match the high price tag. It’s chalky, and the color payoff is pretty abysmal. That was the first & last Kylie/Kardashian beauty purchase I ever made.
So yeah, I’ve ordered from SKIMS. They are one of the first non-specialty companies to do adaptive bras, undies, camisoles, and other clothing items, and to offer them - like all their products - in size inclusive ranges. They also make their cotton undies out of a very, very soft cotton (jersey or modal) that’s great against ultra-sensitive skin. Now add in the fact that they always have boxer briefs for women? Not only have I ordered from them, I’ve done so several times, and will probably continue doing so until all my underwear are SKIMS, and a good portion of my comfy tops/bralettes. I’m not thrilled to be supporting a Kardashian, but they’re offering some surprisingly rare things, and that makes them worth supporting. 🤷🏼♀️
I’m not a Kardashian fan, but if they are filling a need in the market that no one else is filling, then that is just (actual) good business. In fact, by buying the good and boycotting the bad, you’re actually incentivising them to put out good products.
I just have to say I love what that glitter is doing on camera. (I dunno if it looks like that in real life/normal lighting) The green that pops in there when you turn your head makes it look like you've got two colors of it on your lid and it's so pretty!
Duochrome & multichrome products are some of my favourite substances, lmao. Whether to own OR to look at! It's mesmerizing to notice them shift in the light & so cool to get a complex look w/ a single shadow. I feel like I'm being such a magpie saying it, tho, hahahahah 😂🤣
Nailed it , Robert. Enthusiasm, sincerity, and knowledge about a product one represents are very important to establish consumer trust. Kardashian/Jenners don't have any of those.
I've never bought any of these products because as I have matured, I became less likely to fall for the hype. I've never actually been fooled too often by these kinds of celebrity launches. And after reading the reviews, I am glad I followed by own intuition about them. All style, no substance.
I made the mistake of buying a nude lip kit that was launched by Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney from my local grocery store back in college. It was terrible and I've never purchased anything from anyone in that family since. Sounds like they're still scamming too. 🙄
I work at an airport and there is a Kylie Jenner vending machine and I have never once seen anyone buying anything because it's ridiculously expensive 😅😅😅
I've spent a lot of time at airports & I observed the same!! Meanwhile, have I seen people buying brow products or bronzer/blush from the Benefit vending machines? Absolutely, lol.
Nope- I never bought (or wanted) a single Kardashian/Jenner product- though they did peak my interest a bit. As someone who tries to choose wisely when “voting with my dollar” - I found dupes or affordable versions of some of the aforementioned products. I had high hopes for the whole contour craze- but I always felt like I looked ridiculous with all those extra layers of makeup.
Love this series! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Fenty - like what it did right. Seems like a complete contrast to the Kardashians / horror stories you have covered.
I just added to your 1M sub count. Your laugh is what pulled me over the line. It is always so well placed and so appropriate. No one has a snark laugh quite as finessed as yours.
I would go without make up for the rest of my life rather than wear anything with their name on it. Robert, the shift on that eyeshadow is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!
I really never understood wanting to buy cosmetics from someone just for them being famous, not actively onto cosmetics or makeup artistry? The appeal of the Kardashians continues to elude me. Ps: did you mention the multichrome you used and I missed it? Love a bright red eye, the look for the video looks great
We finally hit one million subs guysssssssss CONGRATS ROBERT! You deserve all the love in the world and are one of the best UA-camrs out here. All your hard work will continue to pay off! ❤
Dude. I just discovered you and, probably like thousands or millions of others, I enjoy your insights and honestly. I also find listening to your voice and your funny whimsical personality a nice diversion from stress. Thank you for being you!
I've been obsessed with these videos about makeup brands history, thank you for all the work you put in these investigations because I imagine it takes a lot of extra time to prepare them compared with product reviews or reactions videos. Are you considering making a video about KVD Beauty in the future? The controversies prior to their rebranding are more or less well known, but I can imagine there's so much more to cover about the sale of the brand and their (in my eyes, at least) struggles to find a new niche in a market full of exciting indie brands.
I have never used any products by the Kardashians or Jenners. As a rule, I stay away from celebrity brands or any products a celebrity endorses. The only exception I make is for Rare Beauty mascara.
Robert, have you ever thought about writing a book about makeup? I know there are some iconic books out there, but I would totally love to have a book with tips and tricks and beautiful makeup looks!
Spot on with the comments made about cash grabs and needing to have your heart in something for you to be believed when selling something. Love how raw and straightforward you are robert. Never change that for anyone babe ❤ xx
Yeah. Here in Iran, since 1990 weve had shoppinh assistants buzzing around us like bees to help choose a matching lipliner whenever we buy lipsticks. Its nothing revolutionary
Yes it was a cash grab. I never bought any. I did see them in a store and it was disgusting. People had used them and threw them around. So please no more makeup. Relating to your customers are so important, they just relate to my purse.
Good video. I agree with the points you make. To add: In a time of rent, bills and food costs rising, worries about the environment and many of us thinking more about consumerism, the Kardashians/Jenners seem more tone-deaf and absurd than ever. Their obnoxious behaviour, the private jet/luxury lifestlye, bragging way (from the few clips I've seen, never watched the show) is just offensive. Plus they and others on IG (especially, but also elsewhere) have negatively influenced how women look at their bodies, present themselves etc. I think many of us are fed up with this. Now they're also trying not to age, and it's just ridiculous!
Robert, I'm so thrilled that you're so close to a million subscribers. I remember watching your first videos and you remain one of the very few MAs I watch on YT. It's more than just your makeup knowledge, it's your commentary, banter and honesty that I (and I'm sure so many more) really stick around for. Cheers from Canada!
I recently threw away a Kylie Cosmetics concealer. It wasn't the best concealer I've ever tried nor the worst, it was just average. The thing is, I actually got it as a gift in a Ulta's sale. Nobody wanted to buy those products. I had to get rid of it a few days ago 'cause it legit started to smell like rubbing alcohol 🥲
@@vivirodriguezc I’m too much of an angry person and I’m trying to work on that. I’m genuinely sorry. I can’t speak two languages, even though I’ve tried to learn. So you do not deserve my crap.
2015 is the year I moved away from home, and i always say I moved here a few years ago, and it blows my mind whenever I realize that it's been 8 whole years😂😂 2015 really feels like it was like 3 years ago😂
I used the KKW contour stick and it was almost liquid. It was too soft. Reminds me of the mac “gloss” that just crumbles. And the Kylie lip kits were sooooo dry. Great colors but too dry. I don’t think they were colour pop….colour pop is wayyyyy better!
I never really understood why everyone wanted Kylie cosmetics makeup. For me they were overpriced and super basic makeup that I could find in other cheaper brands and worked perfectly for me.
When the Kylie cosmetics concealer was on sale at Ulta for $5 I bought them so fast. They were okay, nothing special, I would buy them again for $5 if I still could😂
I agree 100% Robert. I have never been interested in them, other than to feel sorry for Kylie, after seeing how much work she must have had done to look the way she does. I do feel like people are starting to see through the shallow fame that holds no value in the real world. Thank you for sharing your opinion, as someone I truly respect!
Shallow is a good one; so is vacuous. I will not miss them, their butts (!), or their makeup. We've already moved on, folks, as this timely video demonstrates.
I would love your opinion on Colouredraine, their recent foundation launch had an immaculate colour range and I'm seriously thinking of trying it (with my limited budget). I also love how you never disparage the people you talk about, and only really go in on their behaviour. It's so commendable, especially when people seem to love to hate on others so much. Love your content 💙💙💙
Is that the sticks? Those look tempting for foundation and contour! A real pale neutral is hard to find. That darkest dark shade blew me away vicariously for people who need it, too. Someone put serious thought into those shades. And the price is nice!

Which eyeshadow are you using?😮❤
I simply adore your fem energy. You are such a great MUA.
@@Contessa_Savannahright?! She probably invested in it to start up
Exactly. I’ve never seen Kim do her own make up. I doubt she even asks how or why the make up is being done in a certain way or what they are using because she’s just too busy tossing that salad.
@@jordanodwyer6552I feel like “Klan” might not be the best name….
Oooh, very interesting point, thank you for this!
As an esthetician in beauty school I’ve noticed some of the same things! If my instructor is checking my client and compliments their skin for how glowy it is, it’s usually a thank you! But I’ve also had a few friends who are clients who do give me the credit for doing their brows/lashes
It’s all about branding and having the marketing to go with it.
@@A-Ree you’re totally right I’m just a little bitter haha ultimately I’m not bothered
Also it is very interesting that as a beautician/technician your skills are judged on your lashes nails etc., that most likely have been done by someone else 😅
I refused (and still do) to support any of their brands. I will not give my money to those culture vultures who profit on women’s insecurities
So you must not wear makeup or use skincare because spoiler alert…The entire beauty industry profits off of women’s insecurities lol.
@@TheBwil32It's a particularly insidious thing though.
I don't use any makeup products and never will. I don't buy anything where the marketing exploits women's insecurities.
Totally agree. 🧡
@@TheBwil32 Yeah, I just don't know why heiresses who were born on home plate with a billion bucks in each hand had to wet their beaks - I mean, other than the obvious, narcissism and greed.
Trust me they don’t need your coins
I'm so, so sick of that family. I wish people would just stop filling their pockets with money.
will be interesting to see if Kim and a few of her sista's get called n to testify on this whole diddy thing and oh yeah on the pocket filling
I never really followed the Kardashian/Jenner clan but it reallyyyy freaked me out how she went from teenage Kylie to this completely different face/brand Kylie almost overnight. I look at old pictures of her and can’t even process how she went from that to this. Zero hate, just genuine bafflement.
She had good work down, and has good photo editors. Now she has a pillow face from too much fillers
I’m 35 and have been considering both but I’m gonna wait to see if I “need” it or if my mindset toward my own beauty changes lol
Although with Kylie I don’t think it’s just fillers. I think she’s had a ponytail facelift and some chiselling done cause honestly her face is a completely different shape.
Proud to say I have never given a single dime to a kardashian , nor have I ever watched a single second of their content. That’s pretty incredible because it’s literally everywhere. I have a great reaction time shutting them off ;)
I even get beauty box subscriptions and yet have never received a single product. I guess they don’t put their stuff into sub boxes?
Same and it feels good
Good for you yay..
Same!!
Absolutely mate!!! 😂😂😂
😅😮8
James and Robert tag teaming the Kardashians 🤭 love it!
😂🤣😂😂😂😂🤣😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This reminds me of that old meme "name a more iconic duo, i'll wait" and it's coming back to bite the Kardashians in the form of the Welsh Twins!
Me with the nasty gen x gutter mind... 😂good lord no, don't visualize.
Love this 😂😂
🤣🤣🥰🙌🏽
To be quite honest, for the young girls, I’m glad the era of “looking fake” is passing. It’s hard enough growing up as it is without trying to fit into unrealistic standards. Hell, I struggled with their standards and had to remind myself they use surgeons, filters, etc. I hope vintage, real beauty comes back. Where it’s ok to have a wrinkle. 🥰
unfortunately its not gone and never will be, its just a new kind of fake now, the no makeup makeup" fake which is actually harder to pull off and might lead to more plastic surgery in the long run.
now its just a more expensive and dangerous kind of fake, the botox / fillers / treatments and plastic surgery fake.
lol no it's getting WORSE, the whole entire 'no makeup makeup look' heavily relies on botox/filler/surgery to look good, there's also a lot of classism involved and cosmetic surgery is more popular than ever before, same thing with BBLs and stuff. Girls at 20 are hosting botox parties, this is becoming the norm now, I see 8 year olds online wanting anti-aging skincare products.
YEAH AND SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN NOT A Q CARD!!!!😂😂😂😂
This ❗️
They seem so empty
Or they are so out of touch they actually believe they are good products
NO! It says a lot about the people who buy their products . If you think they are interested in quality, you are kidding yourself .I remember the clothing line with Sears cheep quality and not fashionable. With them, it's all about the money because they know that people will buy it.
Kris jenner Pr machine no heart just use people like how kim used brandy 😉
Even with zero complaints or issues with any Kardashian or Jenner brands, regardless of the product, I feel like it's hard to trust anything they say. They lie about everything all of the time. Even when it's not necessary
Hoping for a TooFaced video. I would LOVE one on Hard Candy. Hard Candy was top tier makeup in the 90s. It was exclusively sold in fancy department stores in the states. Now it's one, if not the, cheapest drug store brands. However they still make awesome high quality makeup. I'm so interested to know how that happened. I love this series
I wish their lip products didn't taste like soap, though.
Really? That’s so interesting. I had no idea they used to be in high end department stores. A video on that would definitely be interesting
Yes!!!!
Just recently learned this about Hard Candy too! It’s such an interesting story!
Kelly Gooch has done a great Rise and Fall of Too Faced brand deep dive - defo recommended a watch ❤
The fact that Kim had to swatch and swatch and swatch to build it until it was barely visible should've told all the customers it wasn't worth it 😅
Fr like that one bit made me think "oh that's awful". I don't care who's name or packaging you slap on after that
Right? And “this would look better on Heather” immediately followed by “I spent so much time picking these colors” or whatever she said. Why would you make a pallet you can’t even use?
And her lip service - “this one’s my favorite, I’ve been working on it for MONTHS”. Somehow I doubt that.
I’ve never found the kardashians “relatable” in any way shape or form 😂
How did everyday regular 9-5 people find them relatable ever ? Doesn't Kim still hAve skims ? Isn't that still really popular ? I don't keep up with them or their brands at all but I thought skims were still a thing
Their brands are not dying skims is getting bigger every year dumb ho€
I have never and will never purchase Kardashian/Jenner products.
Right, she literally said that all she had was fillers and a breast augmentation on the season finale of The Kardashians that aired two weeks ago.

They've always given me bad vibes. Like walking by a bully in the hallway of school. That's how I feel any time I see a picture of them.
17:17 I’m convinced she chose to swatch the “contour” colors on the other girl because it wasn’t dark enough to show up on her own tan
Let's not forget that Kylie had another launch (near Valentine I think) with more lipsticks but completely stole the design from Trixie Matell's makeup line. The container was heart shaped just like Trixies, the colour theme and even the font.
Did Trixie say anything?
@@alexandrarenee4323 In a video, Trixie applies her lip gloss before spotting a picture of Kylie’s Valentine’s lip glosses in the background and pausing with a confused look on her face. In the caption, she wrote: “Kylie I’m calling the police”. As a joke and then made a comment on her own post with the products with the caption: “Make sure you’re Keeping up with Trixie Cosmetics by giving us a follow 😉” - a reference to Kylie and her family’s show Keeping up with the Kardashians.
A heart shaped theme for Valentine's day isn't exactly original nor exclusive to anyone...
@@allie5171Nope, but the timing, the similar font and the similar campaign didn't help.

Same.
AMEN!!
That and they also found out her numbers didn’t add up and she truly didn’t have 1 billion.
But Kylie is not actually a billionaire, though. It was all false hype.
To my knowledge, Bobbi Brown had creative differences and felt the brand had gone in a direction she didn't agree with.

I feel like these lip kits are definitely a product of the trend and the times.
the point of a liquid lipstick is that it’s so matte you don’t need a lip liner so….
i tried the lipstick once as a friend had bought a kit and it was drier than the sahara. waaaaaaay overhyped, even for the time.
Robert saying that the Jenners and Kardashians aren't expressive reminded me of when I said that someone always looks like they're being made to say something while being held at gunpoint 😂. Wonderful video, as always, Robert!
yesssss, love this! I also think that now that we have Haus Labs and Rare Beauty, Fenty, etc. they’re celebrity brands but they’re actually good! and they are more inclusive and aren’t aimed at everyone wanting to look like them. so in comparison, which would we rather choose? who would we rather support?
halsey's brand about-face is also really good!! and she's been doing her own makeup for a while :)
I think it’s actually possible that the skims brand is an exception? I could be wrong, I don’t keep up with them lol
But they do! Their passion is more money and fame..😂
Her new businesses are good.
So happy you’re at a million!!!!

Hi Robert - another great video in this series! Quick question…would you consider doing a sister video to this series where you discuss the brands that are successful and doing things right and why this is working (cost, inclusivity, good products, etc)?
Brands should pay him for that insider knowledge! ❤😂
I thought u meant James cause you used sister 😂😂😂 I was like no pleaseeee
18:38 hahahaha you made me laugh the hardest laugh all week! the pause before saying her name 😂
I love seeing Robert get into glitter!
I’d really love to know what brand it was - it’s reading almost teal and dark blue (as well as raspberry). Anyone have any idea?
I worked for Lancôme and Estée Lauder for years, and you’re right a matching lip color and liner we’re requested a lot, and it was never a problem.
You and James are literally the only people I want to hear beauty news from lol
13:09 I thought my dogs were crying and I had to keep pausing the video to check on them hahaha 🤣
I love how down to earth you are, Robert. You’re a real one 👏🏻🫶🏻
I work at an airport and there is a Kylie Jenner vending machine and I have never once seen anyone buying anything because it's ridiculously expensive 😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂
Colourpop would do so much better!
I've spent a lot of time at airports & I observed the same!! Meanwhile, have I seen people buying brow products or bronzer/blush from the Benefit vending machines? Absolutely, lol.
Nobody wants to be seen standing at that machine of course.
CONGRATS ON ONE MILLION!!!! SO DESERVED
I really never understood wanting to buy cosmetics from someone just for them being famous, not actively onto cosmetics or makeup artistry? The appeal of the Kardashians continues to elude me.
Ps: did you mention the multichrome you used and I missed it? Love a bright red eye, the look for the video looks great
I love that multichrome, too!! It looks like a magenta-gold-green.
Its their aesthetic, matte large lip, heavy contour, dramatic m/u.
Her lipliners are really good formulation
Im mesmerized watching you do your eye makeup. Seriously it’s so amazing. The colours - the blend - I’m obsessed.
Oh my god, what is that duochrome on your lids?! It's gorgeous!!!! Also, congrats on the 1 million!!! 🤩🤩
I have never used any products by the Kardashians or Jenners. As a rule, I stay away from celebrity brands or any products a celebrity endorses. The only exception I make is for Rare Beauty mascara.
The rare beauty mascara is great 😍
Omg!!! 1 MILLION subscribers!!! Congratulations, Robert. 💜
Almost 1M subscribers. Well deserved, i enjoy your Channel so much. Robert you're amazing.💜
Robert, have you ever thought about writing a book about makeup?
I know there are some iconic books out there, but I would totally love to have a book with tips and tricks and beautiful makeup looks!
Congratulations Robert! You reached 1M!!
Personally ill NEVER support this family or their brands. We vote with our wallets ppl..
I'm proud to have NEVER given them a single coin or a single like on any social media platform.
Same.
I could never stand any of them with their pretend drama that they go through. I think they are insufferable
@@tinachristine4573 ditto! I mean really tho what exactly are they famous for? Before the cosmetics..
Spot on with the comments made about cash grabs and needing to have your heart in something for you to be believed when selling something. Love how raw and straightforward you are robert. Never change that for anyone babe ❤ xx
I absolutely love this series, Robert. Yes, please make more of these videos!!
Yeah. Here in Iran, since 1990 weve had shoppinh assistants buzzing around us like bees to help choose a matching lipliner whenever we buy lipsticks. Its nothing revolutionary
How very exciting, 1MILLION is upon you! Well earned & deserved. Love & Blessings from 🇺🇸, Bella
Congrats on hitting 1M subscribers!
Hey Robert! Love these pieces. They're well researched and you keep it classy. Hope you're having a lovely time in LA! 🖤
Congratulations on 1M followers! That's a excellent achievement 🎉
Kardashian cult 😂 I never understood the hype around them. I love this series! Can't wait to see what else is to come 😊
ONE MILLION! You (finally) made it!!! 😍💖
@@Jimmy94411 Corrected! You're right, english isn't my first language and I got confused. Btw, there's no need to be rude, everyone can make a mistake
@@vivirodriguezc you are correct. Sometimes I’m an ass. Often times I’m an ass. And I’m sorry that anger is too much my first response.
@@vivirodriguezc I’m too much of an angry person and I’m trying to work on that. I’m genuinely sorry. I can’t speak two languages, even though I’ve tried to learn. So you do not deserve my crap.
@@vivirodriguezc your kindness reminds me to try harder.
@@Jimmy94411 That's alright, I understand. The important thing is that you recognize and work on the issue. Take it easy and have a nice day! 😊
I have never used any of their brands. I personally cannot stand them.
I hope your dog is ok , Robert? Sending love❤
congratulations for 1million Robert
I am very happy to part your family ❤
Yay 1 million subscribers! Congratulations Robert! 🎉🖤🎉🖤🎉🖤🎉
Congratulations on 1M subscribers Robert! So happy for you!
