I had a crush on him even bigger than the one I had on Paul Newman. 😂 Stunning talent. I don't think he ever got over the death of his Mother. As a sober alcoholic for 26 years, I get it - and just wish he could have found recovery. Terrific homage. Rest in paradise, GSC.
Very good list and excellent video. There really wasn't anyone else quite like George C Scott. A tormented genius with a commanding on screen (and stage) presence. Above all a genuine artist in every sense.
I was glad to see you rank Scott's performance in "The Hospital" so high. Alas, my all-time favorite turn of his didn't even merit an Honorable Mention on your list. For some reason I'll never understand, when people think of an Arthur Miller play adapted for TV and starring George C. Scott, they immediately think of 1967's "The Crucible" and forget all about 1971's "The Price" -- which in my opinion, was a much more memorable production. (Actually, I do understand -- there was a weird licensing arrangement for that production which kept it from being released commercially on VHS or DVD. It's now all but forgotten, which is sad, because Scott's performance is so brilliant -- and sensitive.
When my sisters and I were babies, the villainous McCleach introduced us to Mr Scott; also because of the fact that my dad would watch some old school war films at times that had Mr Scott.
Much obliged with this noble tribute to George C Scott. It was his performance in the movie ''Patton'' that inspired me to volunteer and go to the war in Viet-Nam, which I later regretted.
A powerful and memorable actor! I'd have placed The Hustler a bit higher, as it impacted me much as it did you, and stayed with me longer than some of his other performances. I don't know why, but I always enjoyed his performance in The Flim-Flam Man a lot, perhaps because he seemed to perform it with a twinkle in his eye, unlike many of his more 'serious' performances. Thanks for this great tribute!
I personally think that Scott's best performance is in DR. STRANGELOVE. I think that most military men during the Cold War were much like General Turdginson, a redneck who thinks himself of being intelligent, rational and practical, while he is a total psycopath. "Oh boy, I'd wish we had one of those Doomday machines" 🤣🤣🤣
Excellent video essay. Probably my favorite performance was The Hustler. His raw energy was captivating - always just at the edge of violence. "You owe me MONEY!" Crazy good. Also, Anatomy of a Murder and one you didn't mention, The Last Run in which he knows his end is near. The scene in the church confessional is riveting.
Soooo.....no Flim Flam Man. Probably the greatest acting performance ever, in an absolute perfect film, would've bet my shorts no one remembers this. Crazy.
There is a THIRD movie where Scott played the same character as Cobb - both played Willie Loman in Death of a Salesman, though Scott's performance was on stage.
Congratulations SUPERB countdown you nailed it, i'm agreed with you 100% with your # 1 choice , but where is MAN GETTING HIT BY FOOTBALL 😁 I THINK IT'S ONE OF HIS BEST PERFORMANCES
Angus? WTF. The remake of 12 Angry Men I found not nearly as engrossing as the original. Not Scott's fault. It's the direction and editing. The way Lumet used closeups and edited it all together just resulted in a more engrossing flick. I'll take Exorcist 3 over the animated flicks, if for no other reason than the carp scene. I don't love that flick cuz it's scary. I love that flick cuz it's hilarious. Scott has some great moments.
Fwiw, because I'm a big fan of hers, too, please - it's DEWhurst - like dew on the grass. ☺️ Trying to find this version of 'The Crucible' - looks 🔥🔥. Edit: found it!
I will have to respectfully disagree with you. General Buck Tergetson is one of the greatest comedic characters of all time... He steals the show in Dr. Strange Love. Pure comedic genius. 😂
@@theclassicfilmloversguide1871 Of all the actors who played Mussolini, GCS portrayed him best in my opinion. He absolutely nailed Mussolini’s arrogant stance, jutting chin and defiant mouth! Brilliant actor!
George C. Scott was truly brilliant. That was really fun! Thanks!
Excellent as always - my favorite series on UA-cam.
Outstanding compilation; well done!

I think he is very memorable playing Sherlock Holmes in They Might be Giants...well worth a watch or two :)
Oh I love, "They Might Be Giants" too! That was a tough call! lol
He was a real one
Much obliged with this noble tribute to George C Scott. It was his performance in the movie ''Patton'' that inspired me to volunteer and go to the war in Viet-Nam, which I later regretted.
George C Scott is without a doubt my favorite actor. Pure, raw talent. My favorite film is The Hospital.
I didn't even know there had been made a remake of 12 Angry Men. Thanks, gotta see if i can find it.
Amazing performance.
It's on UA-cam and maybe 2 streaming platforms Kanopy and Tubi

Oh God, I LOVE that scene...& Love Last Run! The Man Has So Many Golden Ones, Indeed.
Soooo.....no Flim Flam Man. Probably the greatest acting performance ever, in an absolute perfect film, would've bet my shorts no one remembers this. Crazy.
Better to let us hear his greatness rather than just talking about him... & he had greatness!
Did you forget his TV show, Mr. President which was on FOX.
Do yourself a favour and watch George C. Scott in the movie "the Changeling." Absolutely fabulous!
I'm here watching this video because of his performance in Exorcist 3, so I'm gonna watch the Changeling next, thanks!
george you ruled

Excorcist 3 might be a lesser work of his, but it has the one of the most memorable jump scare in film history..
Peter Boyle is SO0 under rated
Where or how did you watch EAST SIDE, WEST SIDE. Looks very interesting.
Looked it up. It's not on any streaming devices.
You can actually find some episodes on UA-cam and my family kept some classic episodes videotaped on VHS! Another reason why I still love VHS...haha
UA-cam
Patton is a great movie indeed!
Congratulations SUPERB countdown you nailed it, i'm agreed with you 100% with your # 1 choice , but where is MAN GETTING HIT BY FOOTBALL 😁 I THINK IT'S ONE OF HIS BEST PERFORMANCES
Would have been nice "see" some of the performances alluded too.
Day of the Dolphin, hidden gem

New sub. Just found you.
Audrey Hepburn next pls, love the content dude
That is an Amazing Request AND Coincidence...because Audrey Hepburn is Next...! Thanks So Much for watching, Hernán!
don't forget the last run 1971 & the secret formula 1980
I will have to respectfully disagree with you. General Buck Tergetson is one of the greatest comedic characters of all time... He steals the show in Dr. Strange Love. Pure comedic genius. 😂
Turgidson
Stealing the show from Peter Sellers is no mean feat! 😂👍
They Might Be Giants.
Don't forget the New Centurions
George and Roy Scheider could have played brothers.👃
GCS did much better job than Stewart (who to me was calling it in).
Dew (like 'doo' drop) hurst
-ANGUS is free on Tubi-
I loved him as Mussolini- that was a made for TV, right?
Sure was, except it was a Mini-Series - He was always great. Amazing Cast Too! Robert Downey, Jr., Lee Grant, Raul Julia!!

Oh I agree, wholeheartedly!! :)@@jenngraham1812
Taps
_Barney Quill was WHAT Miss Pilant?_
_Turn it OFF!!_
Too many tv adaptations ... omitting 'The List of Adrian Messenger' and 'Rage' , 2 really good films boosted by Scott's performance
And The New Centurions
Lose the inpressions of the great actor and show clips.
One of the worst reviews ever. Love Scott, the reviewer not so much
