  • Since many of my viewers have asked for some video and photography tips, I thought I'd begin with very small scale lighting!
    Compact battery powered lights that you can actually carry around in your pocket, ready to go.
    CAMERA - every camera you use, from your phone, to a gopro, or even a dslr or mirrorless system, will benefit from additional controlled light.
    Are you making UA-cam videos about honey bees and need show those tiny details? If so, this is your rig.
    When it comes to photographic equipment, I get what works... period.
    There isn't anything else like this system. It's tiny. You can put these lights anywhere.
    LED means, no video flickering, and NO NOISE, so you can get that perfect audio to go with your sequences.
    Inexpensive and functional. If you want more tutorials about digital photography, video, or associated equipment, I'm happy to do it for you.
    Thanks for watching. Sorry if you expected a honey bee video. They are all out in their hives in very tight clusters at the moment.
    You can get your own smallrig led video lighting kit by clicking on this link: amzn.to/3AOGTzT
    As an amazon associate I may earn from qualifying purchases. If you do not want to support my channel, then just do a search for the Smallrig Mini Led Waterproof Portable Lighting Kit and you'll find it for sure.

    Definitely a nice lighting kit - I'll have to see if Amazon UK have them too.
    Yes, they do, and the same company (Smallrig) have a variety of other fitments and gadgets to assist with videography!

    I have a very small office, could it do the trick to only adjust the light for me sitting in front of 2 screens ? thanks

      I think I'd recommend a larger light surface for that, I think these would cast some strong shadows. I would look at the SmallRig flat panel battery powered led lights.

    Hi Fred. Do you still use these Lights and are you happy with their performance? I'm interested in buying a kit but was wondering about the endurance. Some light brands break very quickly.

    Hi Fred, what is the easiest way to get rid of shadows cast behind a subject? Overhead lighting ?

    • @FrederickDunn
      @FrederickDunn  2 роки тому +1

      You can even put up a large piece of white paper and use that as a light diffuser. Or, you can also use a pillow case etc... anything that spreads the light will soften those cast shadows. You "can" put a light over the top, but it tends to also cast a shadow directly beneath your subject, I prefer 45 degrees left and 45 degrees right of the subject. Lots of opportunity to play with the light.

    Red filters able to be seen by the bees?

    • @FrederickDunn
      @FrederickDunn  2 роки тому +1

      I will say that they react to the red spectrum less than white. But It's been my experience that bees inside the hive will follow red dot pointers, and do notice red lights. White light definitely can get a response from them.

    I have 2 questions for your Q&A show. What is the best way to physically move a langstroth hive with bees in it (10 frame deep and medium). I have to move 2 hives about 10 miles or so. Also, do you have an entrance reducer recommendation idea I can use that blocks the bees but lets air in, that I can use while moving colonies?
    Really enjoy the show,
    Steve Ireland

    Hello Fred, I love photography so this was very enjoyable to watch. I will share something that occurred to me while watching this vlog. You have a crazy cool voice. Its so soothing and smooth. Like easy listening music. Man I hope you do more videos about anything. 😄. I learn easily from your recordings and I'm grateful to you. I also swabbed decks for a while. Nimitz 76 and 77. Keep up the good work my friend.
