I have been practicing weak hand dry firing with the MantisX. Last week I went camping with my Son Angus, and two of his friends. We were shooting pistols of course. They had pop cans set out at 100 yards (in addition to close spinners, etc etc) and were attempting to hit them, with occasional almost hits. I pulled out my Sig P365, and right while they were all watching, I hit one of those cans with one shot, weak hand only. First shot. I put the gun back in the holster and acted like I do this all the time:) No sense ruining it by trying to repeat that shot.
Tried that several months ago and have a video of it too. I have improved well since that video. A real eye opener to where one stands. Saw it on a "Clang and Bang" youtube video and decided to try it too.
Great job. We all need more practice and dry firing. One handed shooting is so critical to potential self defense. I am glad you continue to remind us of this.
I was actually looking for some new shooting drills. Thanks you for your help. I am quite new to concealed carry and Active self protection has really helped me! This will definitely be how I will spend my next 50 rounds at the range.
Nice, definitely a good practice session. I like to study the techniques of others, try it out, then pick and choose what works the best for MEow. You do ASP, the viewers, your family, the lord, and yourself proud, with what seems to be dogged determination in spreading the word on personal protection. Thanks John.
Hi john I was wondering about your pistol? Is it double action only because I see the hammer moving each shot..? I thought u were carrying the VP9. My question is is the P30 double action only or as/da...?
Which pistol is that, John? P30 LEM trigger? You make it look like a light squeeze. DEciding on my next pistol - will be a hammer fire. I really don't like striker. Call me old school.
I wish I had a nice outdoor range to go to like that. All I have is an indoor place like you mentioned, which unfortunately means I have no live fire draw practice.
Add just 10 more rounds to your session with the 5 X 5 drill. Do it cold, before your dot torture drill, and then do it again after. The 5 X 5 drill for those who aren't familiar: 5 rounds into a 5 inch circle, from 5 yards, in under 5 seconds. (3 seconds from the holster is very good.) You'll be surprised how much better your final 5 X 5 drill is because of the dot torture drill...and being warmed up, of course.
So you realize that I am teaching here, right? And as a teacher, you show students what you want them to do, and how to do it, because no one cares what YOU can do, but what you can help THEM do.
@@neilweidner7037 My thoughts exactly. ASP has 69k subscribers because folks value John's observations/advice. I find armchair warriors like BMAH amusing and frankly, I couldn't care less if he/she shoots a 50 at 7 yards. This was a "training" video, not a "show the world now great I am" video.

Hey, you hit it! WINNING! No sense ruining their impression. :)
Jay, too funny!🤣
always stop while you are ahead lol
This simple drill is very humbling.
That was some good shooting John! It’s a whole lot more challenging than it looks.
Just terrific! Will follow my next visit to the range. Thanks.
I’m doing this today!! Thanks for the little push.
I am purchasing the MantisX today. Thanks for this video. I am going to do this drill tomorrow at the range.

Thanks for another great training lesson, John! 👍🙄

Good stuff John!
I need to get out and do this drill again.
Be safe!

This particular P30 has a LEM trigger. It's a hybrid.
Love the lessons
Excellent, thank you for the target!
Great shooting Johnny!

P30 LEM V1 with the Grayguns short reset package.

Just remove the draw is all. Do it from the ready. No problems at all.
P30L V1 LEM? Good choice. Love mine.
Thank you

Yeah, no question there.
Is there a dot torture made for rifle/carbine?
Not that I am aware of.
I noticed your breathing. It sounds like you beathe in, acquire your target, let your breath out and PRESS the trigger. Is this how you are doing it?
Sometimes. I am not super dogmatic about breathing strategy.
I'm a lefty too! When is the next Shot Show?
It's held every January in Vegas.
is this with defensive ammo too???
You can run it with defensive ammo for sure. I ran it here with range ammo.
Why don't you do it with the mantisx time
For this particular iteration I just wanted accuracy.
Nice thumbnail.
Didn’t know you where left handed
I keep forgetting you're a lefty
If your going to promote Mantis shouldn’t you include the benefits and maybe the improvements
This is an old video!
11,000 hours of professional firearms training. Shoots drill at minimum distance.

@@ASPextra and you can't accomplish that at 7 yards because...?
He can accomplish it at 7 yards. Why would you demo something radically different than you are teaching? Just to show off?
BMAH please share the link to the video of you clearing this at 7 yards

What do you think of the TDA version of the dot torture target?
I love it for TDA carriers.
