He is a phenomenal guitar player and is truly one of the best guitar players ever of his era. HIS STYLE IS HIS STYLE....NO ONE ELSES.... A true originator.....AMAZING TALENT
Yngwie did the same thing Hendrix and VanHalen did. He changed the way we play. The difference with Yngwie however is that most guys never put in the work it takes to get even close. His style is not easy and that is why so many guys cut him down. They simply can't do it.
I've always thought Yngwie was such a unique musician- I was introduced to him when I was maybe 15-16. Got to see him perform once because my dad was a fan too. His virtuoso captivated and had a huge impact on me, and made me much more interested in classical music. I also became a lot more discerning and critical with my musical taste and actually payed attention to what I heard and let myself hear after listening to him. Thanks for your contribution to music Mr. Malmsteen. People only knock him because their egos feel threatened.

I want stories. The part about meeting Dio was cool, but I want more of that. I remember Bobby Blotzer's book had stories about his interactions with Don Dokken and Blackie Lawless. Those were some of the best parts.
I saw him at some very small venues in the mid 90's when he was almost totally off the map. You would come out of the place deaf for an hour or two. He definitely had more than one or two amps on full blast.
It can be very beneficial for a child have a environment to grow where there is no constant interruptions of easy entertainment of computers, TV etc. So he can channel his energy for more challenging endeavours like learning music.
Why is it that interviewers always ask the same questions? For the last 20 years , all of his interviews have been the same answers. We all know about his past, about his guitars, his early heroes.... how about questions that have never been asked like “ what was your first car” or “ do you or April take the rubbish out”.... make it more left field and exiting!!!!!

UK was like that too for rock/metal radio. One friday rock show for 2 hours a week, only soft metal got raidio play.
