He is a phenomenal guitar player and is truly one of the best guitar players ever of his era. HIS STYLE IS HIS STYLE....NO ONE ELSES.... A true originator.....AMAZING TALENT
Yngwie did the same thing Hendrix and VanHalen did. He changed the way we play. The difference with Yngwie however is that most guys never put in the work it takes to get even close. His style is not easy and that is why so many guys cut him down. They simply can't do it.

His virtuoso captivated and had a huge impact on me, and made me much more interested in classical music. It can be very beneficial for a child have a environment to grow where there is no constant interruptions of easy entertainment of computers, TV etc. So he can channel his energy for more challenging endeavours like learning music.

Jeez! I had a bigger crowd than Yngwie when I played The Country Club. I did not realize this until now. I do remember those times though. When Yngwie hit the seen you couldn't walk into a guitar store and not hear someone talking about "Wingwee." He breezed into town and proceeded to sweep all of us up and coming guitar slingers off the table like bread crumbs. All I can say on behalf of all of us is fuck you Yngwie. You bastard!!!

I saw him at some very small venues in the mid 90's when he was almost totally off the map. You would come out of the place deaf for an hour or two. He definitely had more than one or two amps on full blast.
You don't hear much about it, but I wonder if his family - since they were musical - did they teach him things like scales, arpeggios...simple things like playing in key....or did he develop everything on his own: totally by ear and instincts?

I have had the chance to meet him on a few occasions and he has ALWAYS been cool as hell. Always willing to talk to the fans. Sure, he can be an asshole to you if you’re an asshole to him first. But that’s the way it should be. Nope. He’s always been very cool and very cordial whenever I have met him.

Very interesting that he mentions Genesis. Steve Harris is also a Genesis fan. They did influence a lot of musicians in the last decades.
Yngwie is one the greatest guitarists of all time and one of the most influential for sure.
