    Beautiful! Most Midwest states have some of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in the nation. Tall trees, brick homes and lots of greenery.

    • @lostinmyspace4910

      Back in the days of when these homes were constructed, it was the immigrants that brought their European craftsmanship from Poland, Germany, Italy, England, Ireland. Framing, and stone masons, and bricklayers, and wood carvers, and marble cutters from Italy. And done with pride. That stands the test of time. Nowadays when you walk into a large custom newbuild, it's no more quality than a new starter home of 1,400 sq ft. Not an ounce of pride goes into the construction, and cheap materials abound.

      Craftsmanship is for the most part UNFORTUNATELY a thing of the past , And when these homes are remodeled more times than not they strip away what makes these places so special , If I could use the size of these homes I choose these over those new/recent builds Mansions off the Detroit river

      RB does making these blanket negative statements about the WHOLE of this city make you feel better than those of us that choose to remain here in Detroit ? If that where the case I’m sure all these people would have left this area as well , Had people with YOUR RACIST mentality had not decided to abandoned this city taking there tax base wealth ( business and political clout with them to the suburbs that the government helped by giving low interest mortgages to only your race and building expressways and sewerage lines to help with divesting from this inner city instead investing resources to help build a climate that would keep people from moving out there would be no reason for YOU to be attacking us from the comforts of wherever you are making these remarks

    This is Palmer Woods It was home to some of the wealthiest in Detroit Its adjacent to Sherwood Forest, another beautiful area Some streets that lead in and out are artfully blocked from main thoroughfares to keep it lovely It is breathtaking to behold, in a city that's lost over a million people Detroit is a unique city, but so much has been lost

    We used to ride our bikes through here (Palmer Woods) when I was young. I had friends who lived here. Actually had both my 5th grade graduation party and my high school graduation party here. Many physicians and attorneys. The Crown Jewel neighborhood of the City. Don't be fooled into thinking that Detroit is totally decrepit. It had some bad breaks just like a lot of Midwestern cities. I would probably say the lack of consistent investment and reinvestment in schools, common areas, arts and infrastructure had long term consequences. There are many nice neighborhoods where people take pride in what they have, and the lives they live.

      Not to mention WHITE FLIGHT to the suburbs with the help of the Federal and State Government that banned BLACK PEOPLE from taking part in these give aways that included redlining restrictive clauses etc ~ building infrastructure giving low cost mortgage loans that enabled them to remove businesses tax base and population along with political power and last but not least events that were customarily held in the city Most heading out to Oakland County with the effort of L Brooks Patterson

    Some of those homes were acquired by foreclosure, and the current owners can't afford, or choose not to spend money on those properties. Drive there in 10 years, and it will look like any other Detroit neighborhood with rotten boards on the windows, and gutters falling off, and shingles missing, and driveways cracked, and property taxes unpaid. Their incomes can perhaps afford the mortgage payments but there's little else left for repairs and upkeep. This term is not to be taken lightly. 'Repairs and upkeep" is an important component of home ownership. It doesn't exist in many of those households.

    Detroit's problem, isn't as bad as the racism,they sadly have.The half torn apart houses in the hood,bad school system, violence and blight,are clearer than the Flint waters!!!!!!! Contributing 4.4 billion dollars on a new bridge,rather than fixing the Ambassador, and fixing the housing problems, to me isn't exactly thinking properly

    • @brucebeamon5460
      @brucebeamon5460 2 роки тому

      Where did you get WORPED misinformation from .... Detroit is NOT giving this bridge company 4 BILLION dollars to fix the MOST CROSSED BRIDGE in the entire country .. the city does not have 4 billion dollars in there treasury budget. What’s the point of SPREADING RIDICULOUS LIES such as THIS ?
