The actress is nice, the character however, quite unlikable especially in this movie.
It's a shame this movie got so much hate until recent years and that was primarily bc of meme culture. Spider-Man 3 had problems but it addressed some real problems like dysfunctional relationships and harboring unhealthy anger against people who hurt someone you cared for.
It also addressed the perils of having dirt thrown in your eye.

Never understood the hate. This was always my favorite Spider-Man movie - the more superhero’s and supervillains, the better.

This is how you do character growth. In this film Peter finally gets pretty much all he ever wanted (even more with a new suit that seems to make him even better at his spider-job) and that gets to his head. He becomes a self-righteous prick who is incapable of seeing other people’s problems, the story is about HIM. After everything he went through, he must yet again learn a hard one : getting what you think you deserve doesn’t make you a better person nor does it make the world a better place.
In Far From Home, Peter is sad because he gave AI glasses to a guy he met twice.
To be fair, he was infected by a symbiote from outer fucking space.

To everybody hating on MJ for her inconstancy, this is the film trilogy where we actually get a glimpse into her backstory. Unlike Peter, who was raised in a healthy and supporting environment, MJ grew up in a broken home with an abusive alcoholic father. As a result her constant struggle throughout the three films is with believing in her own self-worth and finding somebody who truly respects her, rather than just wearing her as a badge on his sleeve. She may appear inconstant and fickle but bear in mind that throughout her formative years she never had a good example of a healthy, loving and respectful relationship. She must find that out absolutely on her own but she is plagued by self-doubt. What I love about this franchise is how believably her character was written and how humanly it was portrayed by Kirsten Dunst.

This scene broke my heart... Peter is wrong, I know. But he was in Love with MJ... He was about to purpose her. And she went away...
Peter fucked up big time here, MJ didn’t have to run away from her problems either. She could have tried harder by staying at the restaurant telling Peter she got fired no matter how she felt about things. I think Peter would have understood and realize he needs to be there for her.

It’s so funny that the 3rd Spider-Man movie was dogged so hard when it first came out, but now it’s a fan favorite 😂
I love the French waiter and every time Peter waved, he would do his best to do as Peter requested. Good at his job. I do feel like Peter didn’t bring up Gwen because he felt like she wasn’t worth mentioning to MJ but he should have mentioned Gwen to MJ all the same. And kissing Gwen for a photo definitely didn’t help either. Peter let the fame and appreciation from the city finally loving Spider-Man got to his head in a terrible way.
As for MJ, she should have told Peter about being fired from Broadway instead of not saying anything. How exactly was Peter suppose to know? Then again, Peter could have noticed that her name was no longer on the broadway sign as well and asked her so there is that.
Either way, communication is one of the big major keys to a relationship. He didn’t put her first like Aunt May advised Peter when giving her the ring. I’ll leave it at that. Thanks for uploading.

Aunt May's story before she gives Peter the ring is the key scene that foreshadows the relationship between Peter & MJ. Aunt May tells Peter that she rejected the first proposal by Uncle Ben because "she wasn't ready yet." Peter realizes that he has made many mistakes which he has to make amends for, and also has to grow and learn to become a man first before he becomes a husband, which is why he wants to give his aunt the ring back later with the same words - "I'm not ready."
I love this entire scene because it actually shows a realistic relationship. Most heroes would develop to finally have the hero get the girl with no complications afterward. This relationship was finally attained prior movie but we see how relationships are not easy.
I am glad of this scene because it shows that heroes aren’t perfect and that Peter has no idea how to be a supporting companion to someone he claims to love. When we were kids we all hated Mary Jane here and were in Peter’s side; of course we were because he was Spidey and the main character so it was easy for us to see that he was not the bad guy here when the whole time he was; something we don’t realize once we grow up. And all of us back when we were teens say that we wanted girlfriends? We all were no different from Peter here: we don’t know how to be supportive of a girl’s struggles and times of need. Mary Jane isn’t the bad guy here.
Idk man. Even as a kid when I saw this 15 years ago. I knew Peter messed up. He kissed Gwen in front of a crowd and MJ when I thought Peter was suppose to love MJ. So I was actually confused about this scene that Peter seemed to not know why she was mad after doing that.
Sure I get that he sucked at being supportive now, but yeah like I said back then I thought it was weird he kissed another girl when he loved another.

I always disliked MJ growing up for always giving Peter, or Spiderman, crap for every little thing. Now that I'm an adult, I understand why now and would definitely do the same. Honestly, while what Peter did kissing Gwen, due to enjoying the hype he was receiving, is in itself scummy. MJ really does treat Peter bad way before that. There is a reason he is dating her. He saved her life several times, he is playing a hero and himself, he was pushed into a deep sadness in the second movie, and more. He wasn’t very self aware though.
For those who dont know, the guy Peter spoke to was supposed to be Mysterio, the enemy in Spider Man 4 with Vulture, that never came to be.
Thats probably also the reason why Tom Hollands Spiderman started with both Vulture and Mysterio.

This scene showed how both of them weren’t ready for marraige at all. Peter is letting the fame and attention get to his head while also kissing another girl even though he was still with MJ. And MJ was constantly playing with Peter's feelings, while always running away from her problems rather than confronting them

In her defense she was trying to figure out if Peter is Spider-Man when they did upside down kiss and she did it again with her fiancé and now she’s trying to kiss Peter to figure out if he really is Spider-Man
MJ was never in "love" with Peter. All the way from childhood till the events of this movie. He was her orbiter she played with his feelings. She never respected him, she's in her feelings right here. Its understandable. What she hates is Spiderman is stealing the limelight in this case Peter as well. She hates spiderman hence peter get all the attention.
There's truth to this, but at the same time MJ feels more strongly for Peter than you make out. She and Peter do love each other, even if they're not cut for a romantic relationship.
I also really feel sorry for JJ's son whom she bailed on the day of wedding! The trauma that guy will get is insane. And he himself did nothing wrong.

One of the film’s best qualities is screenwriting and character development. Considering the fact that peter was this unassuming, gentle young student who got bit by a spider. Now years later he’s living the dream having dinner with MJ but I love his sense of arrogance telling her how the public idolises him. Peter has matured since the first film but he’s also grown to embrace his vigilantism and heroism to the point where he lacks empathy and sensitivity towards her. Case in point Gwen’s arrival makes things even more awkward. He fails to realise his behaviour as Spider-Man has repercussions. I really like the evolution of Peter and MJ. Their relationship is the backbone and core of the Sam Raimi trilogy.
