Good timing. On the 31st they're releasing an EP "Aside" with 5 songs, all with vocals. I'm seeing them at Knotfest Japan on April 1. (Seeing Babymetal elsewhere April 2.) Asterism are the opening act, on at 9:30 a.m., Band-Maid among others are on later, and of course Slipknot headlining in the evening. Am hoping they'll be added to the pool of musicians for Babymetal's Kami Band (same agency as BM) because they're underbooked given their talent (though they're getting busier) and the KB would give them more exposure to the public and attention in the music industry. For all the oohs and aahs they get on English-speaking Y T they're barely known in Japan, which is a crying shame.
So agree with the above. When I heard the guitar solo(s) on Babymetal's Metalizm I immediately thought of Hal-Ca and how well she could play those. It would be great if she got a chance to play with Babymetal. They are so underappreciated in Japan.
@@jimnusbaum3589 Yeah, ideally Yui would return and Hal-Ca would mark her reappearance with an unaccompanied ad lib solo-could be quite dramatically staged. But the ideal doesn't necessarily become the real. . . When I've mentioned Asterism and BM in the same breath in the past, I've gotten replies along the lines of Why do you want to shackle Asterism to the Kami Band? The answer is the KB is a part-time job, it would be great exposure for Asterism, and they would still have plenty of time to do their own thing, as all the KB members have over the years.
@@OtobokeGaijin6218 Well either that or have Su sing for Asterism! Honestly I have had a lot of thoughts along the same line. How about Asterism become the west kami band and open for and tour with Babymetal?
@@jimnusbaum3589 That sounds good. I've heard (but haven't confirmed) that Koba-metal has been to one or two of Asterism's club gigs. But it seems he doesn't want too much attention going to the Kami Band, in fact he's had them wearing masks the past few years. I think the KB should be featured more, they are the "metal" of Babymetal, after all. Anyhow, KB would be good for Asterism's résumé.
Mio, the drummer, has been posting on Instagram where he creates a song using loops. He uses an empty wine bottle in the two I've seen, both striking it and clapping his hand over the opening to get that low pop sound. I know his brother and HAL-CA get a ton of attention and rightfully so, but he's an incredible musician as well. Speaking of highly-skilled Japanese trios, has anyone put Paranoid Void on the list yet? The live session of "null" and the official video for "ukiyo" are great starters.
Their upcoming EP is going to have vocal lines on all songs. It will be interesting to see how Hal-ca sounds in studio and not live on a phone recording.
I really wish they would release it as a CD though, otherwise I will probably only hear whatever people will react to on youtube. I am also disappointed they went with a full vocal EP. I have watched a livestreamed set when they released their Anime inspired EP and heard 5 vocal tracks during that show and while they were good, none of them came even close to their instrumental tracks imo. Hal-ca's vocals are good and I'm sure she will get better over time, but one of the reasons I fell in love with them is because they were an instrumental band and there just aren't enough of those out there. I have no problem with them playing tracks with vocals, I just wish they didn't completely shift away from instrumental tracks. They are my number 2 Japanese band, but that might change if they steer away from instrumental music and when they go full digital (I don't use streaming services or buy a lot of digital music). I just hope this was a decision by the band and not by their new recordlabel or talent agency. But I have a ticket for a livestreamed set April 12th (let's hope they will be included in the VOD and not like last time), I am curious to see how that's going to go.
Yes, the team is definitely terrific. The whole trio. Miyu does wonders and outshines Hal-Ca with her virtuoso playing. But it's very hard to do, even impossible. Hal-Ca, in my opinion, is one of the strongest guitarists in the world at the moment, if not the strongest. She is fast, virtuoso, and, most importantly, expressive. She is very nice to look at, especially when she does crazy solos. Hal-Ca is great) Waiting for "Aside" with Haruka singing)
I'm so excited to see what these 3 will present us with their new EP the day after tomorrow. I hope that the Sony offers them the platform to let their names shine as bright as stars, as they actually already deserve. ✨🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _Look inside the mirror of you. Haruka is such an amazing guitarist!
