I like seeing the drive for both the scenery and to know what the road would be like pulling a trailer. Thank you for your effort in showing these campgrounds.
We drove through the aspen grove in the fall a few years back from Marble to Crested Butte. Most beautiful aspens we have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
I really like seeing the drive in and surrounding areas and trailheads, etc. both for practical reasons and the mid winter mental vacation it provides. I missed a trip thru central CO in fall '21 due to an injury, so it's a real bonus to also see the fall foliage!
Thanks for the video and memories! Our family spent several summers living in Gothic back in the 50's when it was a scientific center. My dad was a botanist (William "Bill" Weber, author of the books on Colorado Flora). We lived in a small cabin on the west side of Gothic, not far from the river. Having many different types of scientists there with their families, They offered fun nature classes for the kids. It was a great community feeling, full of good friends and great nature experiences, including watching a hummingbird's nest all summer from egg laying to the hatchlings fledging! I still recognize some of the buildings, but sure would love a video slowly exploring the old town. I guess I'll have to go back. It's been nearly 70 years. Many of those great scientists have since gone on, including my dad who died at age 101 just several years ago. Fun reliving some great memories. (and I loved the drive). I'm sure that there was no campground there at the time. It looks like a nice one.
Some of the most stunning footage you guys have ever captured IMO. Back in early June we spent a day back in this area from Mount CB to Emerald Lake. Some of the drone footage I captured was spectacular, but now I know I need be back here in September/Oct. Do you mind me asking what date you filmed this drive? Sure would be nice if they developed a bigger campground.
We usually go the end of September into the first days of October. This year the peak colors seemed almost a week late which worked out great for us. Sept 29 was the date this was recorded
What do you mean exactly that the rules on dispersed camping having recently changed? A more basic question too is what exactly is dispersed camping? By the way, the drive in footage is breathtaking. Thanks for adding that.
Dispersed camping aka boondocking is just free parking in an area along the road where people have driven off to camp before. The forest service recently blocked off a lot of those areas to let vegetation grow back, making it harder to find a place to camp
Not in the campground itself but it would fit in some of the dispersed sites beyond the campground. Have a backup plan and try to show up mid-week if you go between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It's a popular area
The forest service has cut down on dispersed camping in the Crested Butte area. I thought it was a year round change until I saw the sign. That must have been when it was most crowded.

You can't never go wrong with a nice drive like that in the fall 😊

Glad you could join us for the drive!
I can never get enough of a fall drive through the aspens. Put as many as you want in your videos. I love it.
We definitely like seeing the drive in so we know if we can pull a trailer in or not. Thanks for including it in the videos.
Loved the drive!!
Love seeing the surrounding area and road in - also appreciate your pulling in to the sites for a good look at the individual camp sites.
Love the scenic drive! Puts me right in camping mood!

Lucky! I would have loved to visit back then. It's a busy place these days.
Like seeing the drive; and you can always skip ahead if you don't want to.
Definitely like the scenic drive
Love the drive. We drive it every year. One of the best in the state.
We try to make it here every year or every other year as well as Ohio Pass & Kebler Pass Too many places to go in such a short time.
Oh we definitely do Ohio and Kebler pass.
I read where someone preferred Ohio over Kebler Pass. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...but what would say the differences are in the 2?
I personally like seeing the drive
We’ll do more of that in the future
I like the drive!
Loved the extra footage!
Love seeing the drive and approach to the campground! Thank you
The drive is wonderful! It gives us a chance to see the area. Great videos!
Love seeing the drive!
Fall drive was very helpful to picture the area before going
Very scenic. The campground was a bit sketchy with missing picnic tables and/or fire rings. It would be peaceful though.
I was a little surprised about the missing items given the $12/night.
I personally like seeing the drive to know what i would be getting into.
Not too long it's gorgeous

Scenery is outstanding. What day and month did you visit Gothic . Please keep videos like this coming.
It was Sept 29 of 2021

We now have a 22 foot trailer. This review looks like it would not be a good place to bring our trailer. Right?

"Mid-June to mid-August, no camping outside of Gothic campground" - can you speak to that, why is that the case? Thank you!
The forest service has cut down on dispersed camping in the Crested Butte area. I thought it was a year round change until I saw the sign. That must have been when it was most crowded.
@@CampgroundRecon Gotcha, that makes sense. Thank you!
Can you camp anywhere along the road ?
Only in designated places. Unless you go over the pass, then it is a little less restricted.
What month of the year?
End of September/ 1st of October
@@CampgroundRecon ok thanks!!! Beautiful scenery
