I loved seeing Kathleen Petty again. And on the same panel as Chantale: fantastic! She has a natural ease that's refreshing.

Asdaw W. Well that's mean. I'll just say she has a great RADIO voice, hence the fact she used to be host of The House on the RADIO. Are you shocked that two frumpy-looking, middle-aged ladies can appear on television at the same time? Ahh, thanks for helping me see that this is a special moment in TV history. I was too focused on what they had to say.

***** Rachel and Jean delivered great speeches on election night but you have to wonder where was that vocabulary for Jean earlier?? Had someone given him a thesaurus earlier he might have won a few more seats. I would like to hear another speech from him before I am convinced he has moved forward.

***** Scandals have been going on in Alberta with the Alberta PC's for the last 25 to 30 years. There have been multiple very costly scandals. The last one was the $26 BILLION refinery plant scandal.

***** Jean also lost because of Preston Manning. He tried to unite the Conservatives and the Wildrose in order to prevent vote splitting. This backfired.

    • @dwaynewladyka577

How? Fact is, it was the Alberta Conservatives who did all the major scandals, like the $16 BILLION electricity deregulation mess, the $26 BILLION refinery plant scandal, among many other costly debacles. In every othe province the PC's have governed, they did major damage. Peter Lougheed was a great premier. Those who suceeded him made a major mess. So, the PC's had to be turfed. It was for the best.

Alberta has always had a left-wing streak, but two things have stop Albertans from voting left. 1.) It seems hopeless that a left-wing party could win, so why try (hopefully this has changed, 2.) The left has been super hypocritical towards Alberta.
"its wrong to develop the oil sands because is like putting X amount of cars on the road, but lets bail out the Ontario/Quebec Auto industry that is actually putting cars on the road."

      Hopfully this will led too...
      1. Federal Libs and NDP become one: Labour Party of Canada
      2. Provincial Libs and PC/Con parties become one: "Province name" Party

    • @dwaynewladyka577
      @dwaynewladyka577 9 років тому +3

The exact opposite. Most Alberta voters have to stop being hypocrites by condemning the petty scandals on the federal level and start accepting that the scandals the Alberta PC have done are always way worse.

There is a very big difference between federal and provincial politics. Albertans can vote out the Alberta PC if they do Alberta wrong (like they just did), But because of Alberta has a small population it can't vote out the Federal parties when they do Alberta wrong.
Pierre Trudeau energy policy hurt Alberta deeply, but Ontario and Quebec didn't care, so the Liberal Party continued to dominate without out any regards to Alberta.
This is why federal parties that harm Alberta are viewed with much more contempt. Its the inability to fully oust them when they hurt Alberta.

Chris P Oil prices were very low in the early 1990's. They were very low in 2008. The Conservatives were in power in Alberta and ruling Canada. Oil prices are quite low now, and have been for quite a while. Again, the PC's were ruling Alberta ( until this past week ), and are ruling Canada. Wow! Incredible! The "NEP" has that much of an impact? It has lasted this long? Unreal! Brian Mulroney got rid of the "NEP", years ago. Furthermore, oil prices were low in the early 1980's. The United States was adversely affected, as was the whole wide world. America had a Republican government ruling over them. This "NEP" sure packed quite a wallop. Truth be told, do people understand that it is a globlal economy? Do Albertans know this?

I work in oil and gas in Alberta and even I am voting NDP. The conservatives have not proven themselves to me to be worthy of the dynasty they have, and the idea of some change in the way our province works isn't so terrifying to me, some change in the way our province works could be extremely refreshing

In 2015 the NDP was voted into power in Alberta. A few months later the great Alberta company ATCO Electric started laying off 15 to 20 year employees. These lay offs continued until 2019. 2019 when the NDP was voted out of power.
The great ATCO was and still is a globalist shareholder focused company and will react to protect shareholders. This is the one of many reasons why the NDP is not good for Alberta.
And don't forget about what they did to coal in Grande Cache devastating an entire town with no supports in place.
If you don't care about other Albertans why don't you just leave...coward.

They seem to miss talking about the implications post-election. With NDP in charge in Alberta, the federal NDP will have to step back from Alberta and resource bashing. That will be a fun story to watch

You missed the fact that the people told the government what to do,
Raise corporate taxes. We said it loud and clear.
The PC's clearly ignored the people.
So we elected a party that was the furthest from them as a way to give them the finger.
And hopefully this party will listen to what the people want. If not. They will only be in power till the next election. If they want a job for more than 4 years. They damn well better listen or get fired.

    To Alberta NDP leaders:
Since NDP has won the election, now you are the government. A government must be highly responsible for its policies. If your current policies are wrong, you should correct them, and this self-correction wouldn’t harm you, because you already won the election.
Please give up the policy of increasing corporate taxes. Even common sense can tell this policy is wrong and destructive. The oil companies have been experiencing a hard time due to the low oil price. As the government you should make effort to help them, instead you are doing the opposite - planning to tax them more! This is the same as when a person is sick, but you force him to do more work, this will only make things worse. As a result you will get much less tax income than you think, and most terrible, you may destroy Alberta’s economy - much less oil projects, much more unemployment, many more people moving out of the province, and collapsing of house prices, etc. You are going against the principles of economics! You are bringing us a disaster!
Though you got more votes, this doesn’t mean your policies are more appreciated. Most of your supporters didn’t have sufficient awareness of your policies, because most voters didn’t have time to do the research work. They just simply irrationally wanted a change. It is not you who defeated the PC party, but the low oil price. Now you got the role as the government, please think differently from now on, from the government perspective, not from an opposition party one. From the government perspective, you have to carefully evaluate your policies, listen well to oil company executives and other corporate leaders, carefully estimate the budget, fully debate with other politicians in the parliament, carefully predict the consequences of your policies and make them realistic, etc. Yes, Alberta wanted a change. You NDP needs a change too! Please don’t destroy Alberta by your current energy policies! Change them, give us better ones, please!
NDP is now the government. You have much more critical responsibilities than when you were just an opposition party. Please be responsible. Alberta’s future is in your hand!
