  • Adam happily admitted that, ‘If the contest had been decided on style alone, the Aygo would have won hands down.’ However..

    That doesn’t mean the i10 won by default, though. Yes, it looked a little conventional, but there were lots of other things to appreciate.

    Toyota has a reputation for running forever. In the States, A 10 year old Hyundai in GREAT condition with 100,000 miles can't be sold for more than a few thousand dollars. There is almost ZERO interest for the used ones. On the other hand... Toyotas sell for MASSIVE amounts. It can have rust peeking through and have 150,000 miles, but people will still want them because they still run great and are easy to run service.

    I have a friend who is a mechanic who believes Hyundai is the most trouble free car

    If you're spending your own money (not a loan), then the i10 is the logical choice. Forget moans about quality, free bodywork healthchecks and five year warranty and five year breakdown cover.

    Adam, I agree with you that the Hyundai i10 is the best buy of these 3 cars. My main criticisms are with the gearbox (I need a firm flat hand over to the left for 1st and 2nd gears, or I risk going into 3rd) and the hard 'jolty' ride. Also, I don't find it as economical as claimed. But to sum up, a fine all-round package for the money.

      our 1.2 is very economical, 43mpg around town and I've had 68mpg at 55mph on a long journey. All this with less than 500 miles on the clock.
      my wife can't quite match my figures as she has a very different driving style.
      I personally think the 3 cylinder needs to be worked harder thus fuel economy would suffer.

    I spoke to one of my neighbours who has 2 VW Up in his household and he said he prefers the drive though the entertainment system is poor he said. I asked because at 17 years old my car isn’t going to run forever and 2 of these would very much be on my list even though these are older I am not averse to buying an older car.

    VERY surprised he preferred the aygo over the up...
    The Hyundai i10 and VW Up are neck and neck in my opinion....its personal choice (for me, I'll buy the VW Up soon...but thats just because the second hand market here for them is pretty decent in Ireland)...
    I would regard the Toyota as a clear last place as it doesn't have the practicality of the other two

    Never thought I'd disagree with something like this by arguing Toyota's styling and upmarket interior should carry far more weight than it was given.

    I see lots of review channels favour the i10. I'm not saying it's a bad car, but why?!

    • @ricco123tube
      @ricco123tube 9 років тому +1

      Because it's really good. If it had a vw badge on it you may have taken a completely different view.

      +Dimitris Kepenos i also wonder this, i used i10 and not like much, vw up is better for price

      +Erkam tekçe we test drove the vw up and the i10 and my wife bought the i10 1.2 premium. The up is a bit nicer to drive but much noisier, less comfortable and looks like a box on wheels. we did like the interior though.
      The i10 is whisper quiet, extremely comfortable for longer journeys and fits 4 adults with ease.
      Both are great cars. We went out thinking the up was what we wanted and ended up buying the i10. We are not interested in badges, only what and how the vehicle will fit into our lifestyle.

    After my mum's KA got written off recently we had the new Aygo as a courtesy car. I thought it was pretty nice and drove well enough and felt it was quite smooth and comfortable even at 70mph. She liked it too. However, after a reading the rave reviews of the Up! She took a test drive of one and bought one!

    Strange, most reviews would have the VW UP wipe the floor with the other two... the Toyota is ugly as hell, looks like a hot cross bun on wheels. The Hyundai is ok, but that's the bland one... not the UP.

      +Josh Squires I personally like the Aygo, the UP! is too cute for me, speaking as a guy, I would be embarrassed in that thing... I also think the i10 is too plain, I like a bit of personality

      My thoughts exactly. Although from a distance I do quite like the Aygo. It's when you start touching the car, sitting in it and actually driving it that the Aygo starts feeling more like a comical toy rather than a decent representative of the Toyota brand - I was very disappointed in just how awful the ride quality is in that thing. The Up! and the Aygo are really like day and night in terms of build and ride quality. While the i10 ticked all my boxes, it simply was too "bland and boring" for me, with nothing about it really perking me up. It's...just a car. So I chose to go with the Up! from my own research...should collect it either tomorrow or early next week. Excited!

      You don´t need replacement parts with a Hyundai, I can tell you after 100.000 miles and no problems. But as a German I recommend to avoid VW!!

    • @erkamtekce547
      @erkamtekce547 8 років тому +1

      i sold it but as i remember it consumes 7-7,5 in city, 5-5,5 outside of the city. it's high for a class A car.

    Enjoy that i10, mr engineer... it will rust more than the rebars you working with daily... i had an i10 and was full of rust after just 2 years from new. So for me is bye bye Hyundai
