The content creator gets content and the toy Creator gets a free commercial😂
There is absolutely without a doubt a purism that goes alongside Lego, even I feel that myself, it's the same kind of monopolistic nature of Band-aid, Apple with i-Phone, etc. Despite the fact that they can be extremely well-made products, it by no means means that they are the only good products out there. This is quite a difficult thing for people to wrap their minds around for some reason. I suspect alot of it is simply excellent conditioning on the part of the advertising of the premier brands. They make themselves practically integral to the very nature of certain products, like there just simply cannot be a smartphone that isn't an iPhone, there can't be a bandage that isn't a band-aid; and in this case, there cannot be a brick that isn't lego. But once you realize that, and break out of the conditioning and realize other very decent and good brands exist, you start to take advantage of all the competition that is out there, sometimes providing unique solutions that the premier brand hasn't even addressed.
@@gospelofrye6881ever heard of cars? Or phones? Or almost any other product. All started as one creation and then branched out. You need to get with the times.
@@staceytheresatammytinataco5488 This isn't like that. Imagine if you worked out a new way of making house bricks that, I dunno, include a little hook on the inside for plasterboard. You spend thousands developing and refining the exact shape and angle of the hook to be engineered for maximum strength and plasterboard compatibility. Then you release the brick, and everyone complains that you're gouging your customers because China copied the brick and sold it for 20% your cost. A person engineered each individual Lego element. The way lego does a 1x1 with side stud is not a universal thing like carving a square brick out of marble or something. It is a designed, engineered product. These Chinese companies let Lego spend the money engineering the new elements, and then they just steal them. That it's not illegal for them to do this is more a statement about international law and the impossibility of preventing China from engaging in IP theft.
Funwhole sets bricks are great, but also try Pantasy: they are the best you can buy. And both are far better in quality, color, prints and price than Lego.
I was a purist for my whole childhood. Of course, that was because back then, the alt-bricks were often just cheaply produced and poor quality bootlegs. These days they're just great. I've happily added a lot of sets like these to my city, and a lot of alt-bricks themselves for their cheapness. Rarely I'll get a dud part but the customer service is usually pretty good.
How do I use these instructions? They’re just numbers on top of numbers with no indication of what different numbers are supposed to mean? I’ve got all these different bags and they’ve each only got some of the parts eluded to on any given page. Please tell me I’m not gonna have to empty every single bag at once to put this together.

Forget about the lighting system (which is awesome and, if nothing else, makes this set a cozy mood lamp for the upcoming fall and winter months) or the design (which is beautiful). Let's talk about the prints! (I am a 99.9 % LEGO guy but I hate their stickered mess and always think twice before I buy a set with a large sticker sheet.) To be fair, LEGO modulars are also prints-only, but they don't quite reach Funwhole's quality of printing. You talked about the clutch-power, but I am usually most interest in the brick surface. GO Bricks usually have a glossy surface comparable to LEGO. What about Funwhole? Are the bricks high-gloss and shiny without scratches and dullness? (From the video it appears to be so).
Their bricks are very similar in surface texture and look to Lego, with a fairly glossy sheen. Without careful examination, no one but an experienced builder looking for differences would notice any. That said, I have noticed surface variation between FunWhole sets, with one set having more micro-scratches on the bricks than another. Still, they're all basically glossy and shiny, certainly to a casual observer/fan.
I appreciate the comparison between the two brands during the review. But be watched a few Lego/alternative brick UA-camrs who were sent copies who leave this piece out. Thanks for the take.
Thanks! As a predominantly LEGO channel, when I agree to review these sets, I feel I have an obligation to compare them to LEGO in a way, but not unfairly. These brands don’t have the same resources so it’s not apples to apples, but they’re similar so it’s worth noting.
I just bought this set and here my impressions. I just begin to build it. I bought it because it wasn't too small and have lights included and for the price was a non thinker. Also I only read possitive reviews from customers. I only have a Lego set to compare. The blocks aren't as shiny as lego's but is not a big deal. I prefered this figures over lego's minifigures because ,lego's are always yellow and have real weird expressions. Or they are scared in a pretty silly way or their are evil-ish. I hate the evil-ish in first place. But this Funwhole figures, seem pretty alike. I't's fun to build. The box was sealed ann the manuals are a+ quality. I don't regret to buy it. The eternal problem with original Lego's is they are overpriced. Too rich for my blood as the fact I hate small sets with 1.5 k pieces or less. But Lego's potential is always the cool classic mixed pieces sets for MOCS. I don't recommend lego sets in general but getting bunch of pieces in a box for MOCS. And the second issue is they don't include lights. So If you go for both, sets and lights it's pretty expensive. For now I just simply cannot afford them. I just want to build things.
For Lego purists, it's worth remembering that Lego took the whole interlocking brick idea from another company in the first place. Anyway, it's nice to see a Lego competitor covered. The best of them, like Cobi and Pantasy, easily meet or exceed Lego in quality and have some really interesting, clever designs and, specifically in Cobi's case, you get parts, building techniques, and subject matter that you'd never find in a Lego set.
@@brickloverbrad If you have any interest in planes, cars, warships, or tanks, Cobi is for you. They have a really wide selection. And now they're re-launching an Ancient Rome line with a warship, onager, etc.
@@Bouboulaglacièreàjeux True. Cobi does make non-military sets, like civilian cars, but military vehicles are obviously their bread and butter, and they do them exceptionally well.
I'm actually looking forward to see what their moulding tolerances feel like. That is funny about those that can't tell since the feel, weight, and fit of Lego is unmistakable, it even sounds different sometimes tapping it on surfaces. Also see what their manuals are like, quality there is often missing in alternative brands. Yeah totally the designs are top notch and very attractive, really great details. I didn't realize how much I missed lights in brick sets until looking at this brand. Hoping they might consider sound features too in the future. Every review seems to remark about the figures, funny since it isn't necessarily the reviewer complaining heh.😉 I'll give some constructive criticism about them. I think the shoulders are too thin and I'd love to see a ball joint there like other brands did well. Overall the body needs to be made of common geometric prisms to blend well with bricks, those shapes are too amorphous while the definitions like the feet are too sharp and specific. I see so many brick brands fail the most in figure design, you need a good solid generic foundation to apply arbitrary character detail to, you can't get too specific. The facial "cheek bulge" has potential in character variance like say bigger for a Homer Simpson look heh. The print is decent and I think they found a good unique face style. Lastly I'd really like to see them do their own hairstyles more rather than do Lego carbon copies.
Most of these issues are true for LEGO friends minifigs...I think of these FO figs as fatter versions of LEGO friends and i do like the rotation at hip movement but my kids don't like them and yes, the upper arms being tiny is weird
@@alanbuxey Thank you for that, I've been looking for data on actual comparisons to Lego figures or any clues as to where the ill reception for them started.🙂

It’s a company based in China. They probably don’t know the reference lol.
@@surlywithfabshoesthe copy on their site is wonky at best, their grasp of English is definitely tenuous. They clearly devote their time to their buildings. I'm so excited for the new CyberPunk line.
They sat down and had a huge important meeting with highly paid executives and the main topic was, "New Company Name", and they came up with....FUN HOLE, clearly no 12 year old boys were involved in that meeting because any school kid could tell you not to call your company Fun Hole unless you make sexy stuff.
The set does look stunning though...the competition is catching up big time Lego, time to start thinking about never doing stickers Lego if your competition can never use stickers and you claim to be "The PREMIUM Product".
HEY kislux I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
It's got to be exciting to be chosen to be a reviewer from a company. But when you really think about it. Instead of doing spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising. They just give you a toy and get a free review. Which essentially is free advertising directly to the people that buy this type of stuff. And everybody is happy. The content creator gets content and the toy Creator gets a free commercial😂
..and affiliate links for first-party sales which you don't get with LEGO (many rely on 3rd party eg amazon)
This product couldn't exist without Lego's designers making these elements first. Everything is stolen IP.
Pantasy is on my list for videos in 2025- stay tuned!
Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear you mention that the FunWhole sets are significantly cheaper than equivalent Lego sets.
It would be awesome of building all of fun hole buildings in authentic lego
Would be the exact same thing.. Pointless
I have 3 Funwhole sets. They are great and affordable. I plan to get more.
Oh that's awesome! If you can, please use the affiliate link in my bio and the promocode to save :)
Being a Purist about anything is crazy to me there are all kinds of great products out there
I was a purist for my whole childhood.
It’s sane as Lego bag 1 has steps in it then bag 2 and so on the instruction show when to change
Fun whole is a hilarious name... Just bought this on Amazon. Amazon has save $20 on this set and 15% off on other Fun Whole sets
I bought the skate building from this brand as well, two man reason is Lego prices has gotten out of control and these set comes with lights
I find it funny how so many channels have "brick" in the name yet ignore or even hate chinese brands. that Lego fanboyisn, not a fan of bricks. great that you've gone out and explored what is possible.
just got the front sign a bit wrong. cat is not a flower but eh what can you do
Forget about the lighting system (which is awesome and, if nothing else, makes this set a cozy mood lamp for the upcoming fall and winter months) or the design (which is beautiful).
Funwhole uses go bricks in their sets. They do make the specialized pieces for fitting wires.
Try the clutch power on cobi military sets...
I really hope they do a botanical line.
is it not amaying to see a modular which has tiled floors all the way through
I appreciate the comparison between the two brands during the review.
Nice more of this
What does this set cost?
Have see it well bellow 150
It depends on which country you're in, all of the prices can be found here: www.funwhole.com/?ref=ghupipbx
No, you're right! I think cobi makes an Air Force One set, I would love to build that!
@@brickloverbrad If you have any interest in planes, cars, warships, or tanks, Cobi is for you. They have a really wide selection. And now they're re-launching an Ancient Rome line with a warship, onager, etc.
You have to love the military with Cobi. Pantasy is much more general public with its pop culture
@@loganjorgensen some people are just anti classic LEGO minifig... though LEGO themselves have (and had) their own figure variations....Belleville anyone? 🤔
@@alanbuxey Yeah lots of variants, I'm just in the process of getting some of their past figure toys. Homemaker, big fig generations, Technic fig, and even the much hated Jack Stone line heh.
I been saying Lego. Need to creat that own light kids and when the set is designed. Make it so you add. The lighting as you build the set. Than adding. The lighting arfter built. Cas have to take of part s. Wich mean the parts could be hard to figer out. At time where thay need to go back to. .yes Lego could. Do this. So the wire s are hidden. Cas in the design their would be. Hole s or arear made in the design to hide the wires. 😊
As a Lego fan I’m sooo over stickers! 😫 plus a lighting kit is a bonus. The plastic quality looks a bit glossy but overall a really nice set! Lego needs to up their game!
glossy? you mean the parts don't look like they weren't rolling around the floor for 2 weeks already. the molds should be smooth.
F stands for “four hours and fifty-seven minutes”… either that, or Funwhole”. The people in this set are more “in shape”, which is why they have thigh gaps. LEGO mini figures don’t ever have thigh gaps.
For Lego you need the money. That´s it
money and space haha
I seen this build. I only buy Lego moduler s. But this. Build look s great. If I was to build it. I would. You s Lego to. Build. This .? Anny one got the. Instruction s link. Pleas. Or are the instruction s. Online for this. Build
They are spending an insane amount of money on marketing. I see them everyone these days.
I hadn't really heard of them before but I see a lot of ads now, figured it's because I've visited their website a few times
Still better then lego
Lego never gives a light kit freaking potatoes😂😂
Hope LEGO learns from it... I don't think they understand electronics and controllers. Even though there is a great electronics developer right at Kornmarken next to the factory (they did at least the PF cabling). Apart from that: Thank you for sharing.
For sure! It was really interesting to experience a non-LEGO brick built set and I think they actually integrated the lights really well!
Unfortunately you have to put the figures together because of legos restrictions....
It seems FO have flooded the LEGO youtuber community with freebies as their paid marketing strategy. From no reviews to thousands , based on their giveaways to video reviews. I almost guarantee that many streamers would not have bought these kits to review them (as they just didn't before this deluge)
So glad the plastic bag are. Going. To paper bag s for Lego. On the mic. The plastic bag s. Are deth to the ear s .😩🙉😂
Did he really say he didn't like that he had to put together the figures!? Funwhole is way better than Lego. Lego is childish and expensive. I love the modular buildings but the figures are childish at best.
Fun hole????
the building looks awesome, but the figures are weird looking.
Youre atleast not like mandr some i need real brands to feel sastified look
If you're a "Lego purist", and you liked building this set...
...then why DIDN'T you recommend it to other "Lego purists"??
Seems like you're still suffering from cognitive dissonance. 🤔
