Did that happen to you? It'd be cool. Reminds me of when I was down at my first Eights Head of the River Race on the Thames, many years ago. We were heading down to the start of the race and were just approaching the starting line when the first boats started to be set off. I still remember it so clearly that one of the very first boats was the Leander VIII and in that crew was Steve Redgrave. I'd never seen a boat move so fast in my life. They rocketed past us. It was stunning, truly awe inspiring, intimidating all at once. I was so impressed, I knew I'd never forget that moment even then.
What amazes me is how few looks over his shoulder he takes. Even when coming up to the bridges. I'm assuming he practiced and practiced the course (and has probably raced it many times?)…
