If you did not stress him, he would not have to suck his thumb. He did not start sucking his thumb yesterday. It was a while ago and it will take a while for him to stop - if you stop stressing him out. Also if he does stop sucking his thumb, he may start sucking his toes.
If you watch her and people like her she let it suck it's thumb just long enough for it to start calming down. (That's why they suck their thumbs fingers sometimes other parts cause it helps to soothe them) but that's what she does then jerks it out of it's mouth..they suck hard on their skin and when she pulls it out of its mouth that fast and hard it's going to cause the skin to break and crack then they keep sucking and keeps it wet and moist and they literally suck the skin off their thumb fingers or whatever. If you have noticed they suck so hard they can make a plastic bottle squeeze together. That's a lot of suction so imagine skin. But this abuser doesn't care one bit. Animal cruelty pure and simple! This infant is frightened and is being given no reassurance by this person. Since it has no mother, no substitute maternal bond it is desperately trying to self soothe in order to de stress and being reprimanded for doing so. It’s no wonder the poor thing is reacting when she shoves him away from her, takes away his cushion (the only tiny bit of comfort it is clinging to) then pulls his thumb out! 😡 Sadly there are times you can see this infant shutting down in order to cope. If you watch her and people like her she let it suck it's thumb just long enough for it to start calming down. (That's why they suck their thumbs fingers sometimes other parts cause it helps to soothe them) but that's what she does then jerks it out of it's mouth..they suck hard on their skin and when she pulls it out of its mouth that fast and hard it's going to cause the skin to break and crack then they keep sucking and keeps it wet and moist and they literally suck the skin off their thumb fingers or whatever. If you have noticed they suck so hard they can make a plastic bottle squeeze together. That's a lot of suction so imagine skin. But this abuser doesn't care one bit. Like I said I bet when she set it back in front of that fridge (or lord only knows what she has in there) she is telling it if your going to suck your thumb im not going to hold you something like that. It is another reason they should never be held in captivity except by professionals in their field. This infant is frightened and is being given no reassurance by this person. Since it has no mother, no substitute maternal bond it is desperately trying to self soothe in order to de stress and being reprimanded for doing so. It’s no wonder the poor thing is reacting when she shoves him away from her, takes away his cushion (the only tiny bit of comfort it is clinging to) then pulls his thumb out! 😡 Sadly there are times you can see this infant shutting down in order to cope.
This behaviour is why there are so many ill adjusted animals which usually end up paying the price later in life when they lash out.
