Hey bro nice video. A few tips on your Spanish, I see you’re still learning. One thing I’ve noticed is that you go in and out of Usted (formal) and Tú (informal) a lot. That’s why whenever you were talking to the lady at the glasses shop, and you said cómo se llama she asked about the glasses or her. Because you began informally. Same with the lady at the shirt store. You began informally then asked cómo se llama, and she said ¿yo? (Me?). It’s easier to stick to fully informal or fully formal speech, it can be confusing. Also you mix por/para a lot. When you talk about time you always use por. You asked how long they had been together but used para, it’s always por. Same with prices, you use por. You said how much does it cost but used para. Honestly you could omit the por in that and just ask cuanto vale or cuanto cuesta. The por isn’t needed. That’s why you got “¿como?” & blank stares a few times. Just some pointers, cheers brother

@@CharlieBoyTV Okay so in Spanish there are 2 ways to speak. You can speak formally, in which you address a single person as Usted, and a group of people as ustedes. When you speak with usted, the vocabulary completely changes. You typically use Usted in formal settings, like business meetings, most commonly with older people, with your bosses, or like you did with strangers on the street. It’s to show respect to someone (generally). Some countries like Colombia use Usted with almost everyone aside from family and close friends, while others use it far less. The second way of speaking in Spanish is speaking informally, using tú. This is much more common amongst people around the same age group, or who are familiar with each other for example family, friends, or you could also use it with strangers. Again, the vocabulary completely changes when using tú. Speaking informally, you address a single person with Tú, and a group with either ustedes again or vosotros depending on which dialect you learned. Like I said, the vocabulary drastically changes. For example you came up to them speaking informally (¿Cómo estás?) then when you asked their names you changed to formal speech and you said cómo se llama. That’s the formal way of asking, which can also be used to ask someone else’s name, or the name of the glasses she was holding (hence the confusion). You can always throw an usted after to get away from the confusion. ¿Cómo se llama usted? Would be fine. The informal way to say it is como te llamas. More examples: do you like the food? Informally ¿te gusta la comida? Formally ¿le gusta la comida? How are you: informally ¿cómo estás? Formally ¿cómo está (usted)? There’s some that get more difficult when you get to a higher level, like what have you done today would look pretty different informally vs formal. ¿Que hiciste hoy? Would be informal, and ¿qué hizo (usted) hoy? Would be formal. You see how the vocab always changes? There’s also a 3rd way which is used in a lot of the central countries and parts of Colombia you may end up going to, where they sub the Tú for Vos. In that situation, Vos is used exactly like tú. So if you hear Vos sos, it’s just tú eres (you are) just substitute the vos as tú when you hear them use it. I’m no expert but I’ve gotten up to mid b2 level Spanish and have heard many many dialects and speak it pretty often. Hope this helps brother

Its a good advice... I speak spanish as my mothertongue.... and its difficult to figure things out when reading the explanation....the best you can do i guess is to watch videos in spanish and get familiar with how things sound... Happens with my english all the time... I know that if it sounds right, then its right....

This is how to do a video on Colombian women, my man is being respectful, attempting to speak their language, asking them about themselves and their opinions, what we didn't see is the part where he got numbers and went out on dates with them 😁 But seriously such a nice change from the usual creeps that go to Colombia and film themselves with pré-pagos thinking they are awesome

But for the most part, Colombians are NOT used to foreigners speaking rough Spanish, and many won't have the patience. Facts from experience. In general they are very friendly though.

Good eye for noticing my last name is Greek, but I have lived in New Orleans, Louisiana since I was 7. Very rough areas and have a lot of street experience than the average person. All of that doesn’t matter at the end of the day if someone wants to try to hurt, rob, or kill you. It is what it is. You have to be aware of your surroundings. Criminals move/operate differently in Colombia since its a different country than Greece and the United States. The amount of murders, robberies, etc that happen daily in areas where I currently live are almost at its worst right now. 1994-1995 and several other years New Orleans was Murder Capital of the entire nation (Per capita). We have a relatively small population down here in comparison to other cities. Every place has its risks, and some places hold more of a risk. People need to know that you can’t be oblivious to everything around when moving to a country you are not from. Always have respect for others; it goes a long way.

@@wavnino1 not for real....if you cant speak spanish well it makes it 100x harder to do stuff and get to know people. Not to mention it will be way less safe for you and you WILL get taken advantage of in situations. If you speak spanish well it opens another world of opportunity.
