My 11 y/o recently asked to leave public school to do CM. He was so drawn to it because he is an insatiable reader. I am just laughing that I started this kid off with rib bones and whole apples at 7ish months and didn't realize his education could be the same.
Sonya and the SCM team, I appreciate your videos. You are a calming influence in my Charlotte Mason journey. Just recently, I was feeling the urge to do a grammar currciulum with my 3rd grader that would have me force feeding information because I feel so pulled to keep up with the Joneses (whoever they are!). But then a video like this pulls me right back to what I believe to be a better, smoother, more enriching education for my kids. I'll bet these videos take a ton of preparation and work. Thank you for them all!
These episodes on core principles have been so helpful to me. Would you please consider doing a series or episode on helping kids with challenges like dysgraphia/dyslexia, neurodiversity, etc? I get so worried about helping too much or not helping enough 😔 not to mention falling into the trap of comparing them to siblings or other children…
I am in the same boat! My youngest has ADHD and he struggles with suggesting ideas, making connections, and even interest in learning at all. I am trying to make Charlotte Mason principles work for him, but I worry about his progress. It’s hard to be content and trust the process with those who learn differently.
