- Remake and modernized version of the classic 20th Century Fox logo in 4K, followed by its different variants.
You requested it numerous times and indeed it's a logo that has always fascinated me, especially since it's probably one of the most iconic in the history of cinema. The 20th Century Fox opening logo (now renamed 20th Century Studios after its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company) got a huge impact on spectators around the world thanks to the brilliant combination of its remarkable visual appearance and its majestic fanfare. This desire to adapt this everlasting logo, which has rocked audience generations, dates back many years. In the past, I made several unappealing attempts (even since I was very young). Having acquired the necessary experience and tools over time, this is how I embarked on this new project at the start of the year. I decided to run into that new Remake Logo project featuring a full rework of the classic 1953 CinemaScope tilted "O" version. This is probably my favorite version which opened so many wonderful movies that I love so much, such as "Fantastic Voyage", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "The Cannonball Run", "Planet of the Apes", "Alien", "The Fly", "Star Wars"...and so much more. Considering my personal affection for it and the visual being absolutly timeless, the task was not easy to modernize, the challenge was here.
I started my work based on the 1954 "River Of No Return" (the first film to show the famous 20th Century Fox Fanfare as we know it) to match the mood and original logo animation timing.
For the general look I wanted to make it looking like the gorgeous 1994 CGI version with the camera being static just like in the 1953 one.
About the effects specially created for this graphic overhaul:
Just as all the other logos that I previously remade/modernized, this one is also fully remade and rendered from scratch. I completely redrew the monolithic golden sculpture of the logo based on 4K captures of "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007) which features a very clean version of the logo. I combined it with another "20" layer with the tilted "O" that I also had to draw in the same style to blend them perfectly (reproducing the same color and textures).
I also had to animate and create other elements such as the iconic five searchlights and all the background sky-box. These elements were created on Procreate and animated on Vegas Pro. To match the original logo, three of the five lights needed to be animated very carefuly to look authantic as possible. The clouds are coming from the same 4K source I used to draw the logo. I needed to highly redraw some parts and also erase/redraw all the night-sky stars on a different animation layer. This way only the clouds are moving and the stars stay static.
I know, the logo does not fundamentally change that much, I agree. Again, I really tried to stay close as possible to the original, my goal is not to distort it but simply to give it a sort of second youth.
Each layer, blue background, textures, logo font, animation elements were created on Procreate. Then, each one of these layers was combined and animated on Vegas Pro. As a reminder, and unlike what other creators have chosen to do on their channels, this animation is 2D flat. I didn't use any 3D elements other than the previously mentioned film images because I wanted a static view.
If the visual does not really change, I have nevertheless allowed myself some freedom. You will probably have noticed that I reworked a little bit the original gorgeous 1954 Alfred Newman's fanfare for my remake version, more stereo and less flat. I also presented some alternative "1994 Logo" and "Studios Logo" versions that I made. They were, at first experimental, ultimately, I decided to keep them. Just like my recent videos you will also see a mini making of which explains the creation process with all the different layers.

My goodness, this is perfect! Completely identical to the 1994 logo aside from the zero! Giving the Cinemascope text the same texture as the statue was a brilliant touch (I never would have made that connection XD), and the whole thing's topped off with that glorious '50s fanfare! You've done it again!

For someone who knows how to use procreate and Vegas Pro, I'm impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if you took the 2021 "20th Century Studios" logo and used the 1953's "20th" with the "CENTURY STUDIOS" intact.

Highly underrated work, but I can't help but to ask, where did the music from 0:08 come from? I understand it came from The Simpsons Game, but I couldn't find the original source.

Yep, each layers is made/retouched on Procreate. The 1994 logo base is coming from 4K pictures of "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007). This way I had a nice 1994 base to work on. Since most of this version uses the 1994 logo, that's why it looks like 3D, yep.
Then I had to digitaly redraw the "20" the way it looks on the 1953 logo. For practical purposes and to have a certain freedom on the screen format I wanted to use, I needed to create a sort of open-matte version of the full logo (like you see in the making of part) and since I found no 4K version of it anywhere, I also had to redraw that extra part. So yeah, since I'm far to be good with 3D elements or tools I prefer to focus on digital 2D animations ^^

Yep! That's exactly what I was thinking when I was making it. Just like other studios for some movies decides to return to their old logos, I wish 20th Century does the same. To my knowledge, the last time it happened it was for the black and white version of LOGAN. They put this 1953 CinemaScope tilted "O" logo with the classic fanfare.

FACT: The reason Disney didn't fully acquire 21st Century Fox is because it was illegal under the FCC for a merger between two of the four major networks as Disney already owns The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) but why couldn't a similar rule apply to the major film studios?
and besides this is not the first time two major studios merged back in 1981 United Artists merged with MGM but I'm not a big fan of UA because they were the smallest out of all nine of the major studios anyway but losing 20th Century Fox would be a nightmare

I really like this. It’s a shame that it’s not a 3D render like from Blender, but it’s still great nonetheless.
I sadly never succeeded to make things with Blender ^^ I'm not very good with 3D in general. The only few attempts with 3D were used for my early Universal and RKO remakes. But I'm happy you still enjoyed this version :)
Awesome work, but you should upload your videos without the black bars, so for those who have widescreen monitors can appreciate them in full screen
CinemaScope without black bars isn't CinemaScope format ^^ I had to put them.
However, since you're speaking of "removing" them, that's why I also made a version during the video called "widescreen 16:9", this way you can watch this logo in the correct widescreen format :)

I know this isn't related to the video but you should pitch your Disney opening logos to the Walt Disney company :)
However, these changes would have to be made for the logos to be accepted:
Regular logo: Instead of saying “Walt Disney Pictures”,it would have to say “Disney” like it's predecessors.
Walt Disney Animation Studios: Same as the original version of the regular logo, but the text says “ANIMATION STUDIOS” instead of “PICTURES”.
Pixar (castle, not Luxo): Same as the regular logo except with the Pixar castle.
With the tilted 0 and thinner 2, the logo would look way better and way fancier imo
Where did you get the 20th Century Fox 1994 clouds footage?
I didn't get it, I made it by myself. I show the process at the end of the video and I also explain it in the video description. I used a 4K version of the 20th Century Fox logo to have the sky in a good quality. Then, on Procreate, I removed the golden structure and filled the gap by digitally redrawing parts of the sky. I removed all the stars and redrew them all on a different layer. This way, during the animation process, I was able to make the clouds moving and keeping the stars static. That's how I made the sky :)
I hope you should modernize the Hong Hwa International Films 1970s logo, the studio was founded in Hong Kong, and has a classical, yet powerful fanfare similar to the Viacom V of Doom fanfare.

…there’s a problem with the "Studios" version; "Century" is at its old height, when really it’s supposed to be about the same height as "Studios" below it
I personally never liked how they changed the "Century" letters in the new "Studios" version. I know they did it for harmony purpose, this way all letters are the same. So it may looks weird if we compare what I did with the actual "Studios" logo, and I don't want to sound pretentious but I wanted to follow my tastes for this version ^^

It was at the moment when Discovery returned to the golden shield without the "Warner Bros. Pictures" in front of it. I made this one to combine their new vision with something more retro. However, just few years later, the original Shield returned, so I was really happy. Now my concept it totally out of date

the searchlight movements don't match the original and it's now called 20th century studios in number form instead of twentieth but I like the logo though
But... I used the "20th Century Studios" version instead of Fox. name in the video. Also, I know the searchlight movements don't match the original. I wanted to make movements of my own. Also between the 1953 and the 1994 official logos and the current one, searchlights movments are totally different so I didn't see why I should keep the same since this element always evolved over time

@@TheRemakerChannel I mean in the 20th Century Studios version of the Cinemascope logo in the Cinemascope part at the top it says "TWENTIETH CENTURY STUDIOS" Instead of "20TH CENTURY STUDIOS" when they changed the name they changed it to 20th rather than Twentieth and it reads 20TH CENTURY STUDIOS in film credits instead of TWENTIETH CENTURY STUDIOS

Remaking or reimagining logos is not a competition or a battle. I have nothing to prove to anyone and I do this in my free time to have fun and to better master the tools I work with. Maybe I'll do a visual experiment on the 2009 version at some point but it's far to be a priority (mostly since I really don't like the aesthetic of 2009 version).

@@TheRemakerChannel One thing I noticed is that MGM and Columbia have just turned 100 this year Disney and WB last year and Paramount and Universal are already supercentenarian studios 20th Century Fox still has a couple of years to go and isn't even in it's 90s yet but I don't know if it's age had anything to do with the buyout the studio was in it's early 80s when Disney brought it

Even through recent TV or theatrical productions like Prey, Avatar, or the new opus of the Planet of the Apes which are apparently great successes for the studio, the brand has still lost its power. As for the physical video market, everything is now under the control of Disney/Buena Vista and very few titles are released. The entire classic film branch of the studio no longer releases any films on video. No 4K versions of The Day The Earth Stood Still, The Fly, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Titanic, Fantastic Voyage, The Robe...etc

@@TheRemakerChannel even though it's still alive making films and it's logo still has the monument, searchlights and fanfare it's not what it used to be I miss when it was called 20th Century Fox and one of the major studios I think Rupert Murdoch choosing to sell it to Disney betrays the studio because the reason he bought it in the first place is so he could create the Fox Network a competitor to the Big three I heard he is an unpleasant man who only cares about business and lacks empathy for other people he dosen't care that if he sells it to Disney they will shrink it down to a not so major studio by changing it's name, I thought about being a filmmaker and I would want to work with some of the majors I wish I could add 20th Century Fox but I would refuse to with Disney's shape and especially refuse to use their abomination 20th Century Studios logo. before the name change the "Big Six" was shortened to "Five" and people lost their jobs and many productions were shut down. Disney wanted to buy Fox in the first place just so they can bolster their entertainment library to win against Netflix Disney dosen't need to compete against anyone and buying another film company is just unnecessary. Disney owns enough and they've inconsiderately and pointlessly ruined and diminished one of the biggest names in Hollywood history. Disney buying Fox in the first place represents an unfair advantage to the other major studios.
