Actually she had a kind of burn-out followed by a depression caused by several private issues. One of the problems she was struggling with was her relationship with het partner They have been together for about 30 years already and have 3 kids together. Things got bad enough that they were even seperated for couple of months. In the end however they were able to work things out. When during this period her father was diagnosed with a terminal disease she took a real hard look at what she wanted out of her live. She seriously considered stopping with the band. While this was going on she started writing songs as a kind self-therapy. The songs were never intended to be released. When things started to normalize again she played the songs for family close friend and her band members. All told her that she should release it as an solo album but it was to different to be released under the Within Temptation brand. So she started My Indigo as a side project. If you take a good listen at a lot of the songs you can kind of figure out the issues she was dealing with.
Sharon's voice is so distinctive and beautiful. Her 'slow' songs have always been my favorites. If this single is an indicator of what's to come, then this could be an album subtitled "The Lost Ballads Of Within Temptation". That's meant to be a compliment, BTW.

Over the years I had moved away from my obsession with Within Temptation and found new music to enjoy. But the one thing about Within Temptation that I will never forget is Sharons beautiful voice. And now I get to enjoy her wonderful voice with a sound that more fits my taste and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to hear more, best of luck with the solo project because so far it sounds fantastic!
I think it’s great that she do this album, she need it, and she deserve our respect with her choice. Sharon is a great singer and a kind personne, and you can say all the hate you want about the song, but it does’nt matter, the only thing it matter is she doing what she like. And as i fan of Within Temptation and Also a fan of Sharon i gave her all my support !
