i don't get why GTA 6 should be $100. Rockstar isn't exactly burdened by economic circumstances. Plus they are the ones who spent the budget, we as the consumer did not barge into Rockstar HQ and demand GTA 6 to be the 2nd most expensive video game to ever have been under Star Citizen.
I used to buy every PlayStation exclusive at launch to show support. (Yes I have about 3 years worth of game back log), the last price jump reduced that to only games I’m interested in. Another price hike will reduce it to sale only.
They should make it 2030, give time for game developers to work. Focus on current ps5 game offerings. Also factor in Los Angeles is lost as a gaming market; their population will be focused on essentials like rebuilding. There’s little $ to gain for any wise shareholders out there, and any wise CEO can communicate the wisdom here about a market ceiling until X factors resolve themselves.

This has always made me laugh that we continue to speculate the 7 year model thats been pretty normal for a long time. Been going strong like this since the PS2 era. Which is funny. There most successful console has the shortest life cycle. I have always banked on 7 years as the sweet spot. Anything earlier is too soon. And anything longer than 7 is longer than normal. I’d assume people thought different because of COVID or shortage on units early on. But Sony made profit. So, business as usual!

Idc if the games are 100 dollars as long as you get rid of the micro transactions. It’s that simple. These companies are making a killing off keeping characters, costumes, cars, new guns and new stages to fight on behind a paywall. Also make sure the game is completely finished. Like we shouldn’t have to wait two extra years for the game to be completely finished via patches. A $100 dollar game puts the pressure on the company not the gamers.
Who thinks we will get a Days Gone Remaster soon? There was rumours of a Gravity Rush 2 PS5 remaster last year, but seemingly never happened. $100 games is insane. Nobody is going to buy them for that much. That would be around €105 euros in France, which is too much.

Just remember for the last 2 generations Sony and MS chose to go with the midrange or lower end of cpus. Jaguar was for netbooks and lowered laptops, and the PS5 cpu has the cache cut in half and is missing avx512 and other features present in the desktop version. So ps6 will likely won't have x3d stacked memory or some of the features of higher end zen5/6 cpu features

@HANZOREIZA yeah good point, they'll remove things without potential benefit to gaming, but due to having to hit a mass market price in the past they have also removed things that do benefit gaming, like reduced cache size and less floating point ALU in the cpus and reduced clock speeds. Several youtube channels are boasting that ps6 will have x3d stacked memory since its an option available on higher end AMD cpus and is great for gaming, but AMD will continue to create non-stacked nonx3d cpus for midrange and lower and there isn't a guarantee sony will go for the more expensive option. Sony has to hit mass market prices after all and can't always have all the bells and whistles that benefit gaming.
I would take that PS6 rumour with a massive grain of salt. The idea that the SoC is already near-final is dubious at best, the reason why I know this is because dev kits from Sony usually change up to the last minute with fairly substantial architectural changes (for PS5 for example, that included a shift from RDNA1 to RDNA2, all in the last few months coming up to the launch of PS5, as RDNA2 wasn't available at the point in time they started rolling out dev kits). The earliest the PS6 will launch is the end of 2027, which is still 3.5 years away, but I suspect end of 2028 is far more likely. There is no way RDNA5 is already near final given RDNA4 hasn't even launched yet, and we're talking about a chip that's still at minimum 3.5 years away from release. There's just too many red flags with this rumour. I suspect the chip itself could very well be real, but I would assume it's just an early prototype, rather than anything near final as Sony tends to do a lot of prototype chips over several years, which again tends to change all the way up to launch. I don't believe there is any actual evidence to support this idea that this chip is anywhere near final, and I would say it almost definitely wouldn't be.
Interesting to see that the VR demand is not what they think just because oculus I guess sold whatever they sold most people are not really into that. I understand that there are a lot of people that are but nowhere near the number of people that enjoy just regular gaming, consoles or a handheld And what’s really interesting is the fact that they thought this was gonna be the big thing all the way back to the late 90s and here we are 30 years later and it’s still not taking on like they thought just like the movie ready player one predicting and thinking and expecting and hoping that that’s where people are going to go in mass numbers, but as long as it’s still a situation, where most people get headaches from playing that stuff or simply don’t even like 1st person type of games. I agree. I don't think it'll come out next year, but I do think you're correct in wondering about the console burnout. I think for such incremental changes in video games, people are already beginning to hang on to their every day console. These aren't like phones, they're something you hop on after a day of work. I don't need to replace it every couple of years because the future will support them for a few more years even when the new gen comes. I'm guessing software will become more and more king, to where hardware doesn't really matter.

I would take that PS6 rumour with a massive grain of salt. The idea that the SoC is already near-final is dubious at best, the reason why I know this is because dev kits from Sony usually change up to the last minute with fairly substantial architectural changes (for PS5 for example, that included a shift from RDNA1 to RDNA2, all in the last few months coming up to the launch of PS5, as RDNA2 wasn't available at the point in time they started rolling out dev kits).
The earliest the PS6 will launch is the end of 2027, which is still 3.5 years away, but I suspect end of 2028 is far more likely. There is no way RDNA5 is already near final given RDNA4 hasn't even launched yet, and we're talking about a chip that's still at minimum 3.5 years away from release.
There's just too many red flags with this rumour. I suspect the chip itself could very well be real, but I would assume it's just an early prototype, rather than anything near final as Sony tends to do a lot of prototype chips over several years, which again tends to change all the way up to launch. I don't believe there is any actual evidence to support this idea that this chip is anywhere near final, and I would say it almost definitely wouldn't be.
Interesting to see that the VR demand is not what they think just because oculus I guess sold whatever they sold most people are not really into that. I understand that there are a lot of people that are but nowhere near the number of people that enjoy just regular gaming, consoles or a handheld And what’s really interesting is the fact that they thought this was gonna be the big thing all the way back to the late 90s and here we are 30 years later and it’s still not taking on like they thought just like the movie ready player one predicting and thinking and expecting and hoping that that’s where people are going to go in mass numbers, but as long as it’s still a situation, where most people get headaches from playing that stuff or simply don’t even like 1st person type of games. It’s not gonna be the big number mover that they predicted 30+ years ago.
Better be a damn special edition for that price but I wouldn’t be surprised about take two they also released the first 70$ game nba 2k smh
This is ridiculous. They already got me on a ps5 pro, and that's not even 6 months old. Unless they release 10+ ps5 games in the next few years, there's no way in hell I'll give them any more money for another console. I'm starting to get jaded with sony.
We should totally boycott that price point. Seriously. We’ve waited so long for GTA anyway what’s another few months. If MOST people boycott the game the price will come down to a reasonable amount pretty quickly depending on how resolute we are on the boycott.

I can understand gta being $100 and I’d pay that price. Game comes out every 10 years and is usually quite the unique experience. But other than that games like COD or any other game for that matter will be shooting itself in the foot with a $99 price tag… games are already coming out every 6 years lol it’s ridiculous

If GTA6 is an absolutely fantastic and utterly enormous game content wise, I wouldn't mind paying more just only for this game. The problem us it could start a trend where other devs start thinking they could charge more when they don't even bring close to the content GRA6 brings.

2027 makes sense. Prob will be holiday season so late 2027. I don’t think that’s too far off from what people thought. And that’s if we see no delays whatsoever. Last gen was already a long one at 7 years. It only seems soon because we’ve been doing the Pro mid gen refresh.
It won't be an industry standard just cause GTA 6 can get away with it, if the majority of other games try this they will see far fewer sales. Only a handfull of games can get away with $100.
I don't mind paying £100 depending on how much content is in the game...

I agree. I don't think it'll come out next year, but I do think you're correct in wondering about the console burnout. I think for such incremental changes in video games, people are already beginning to hang on to their every day console. These aren't like phones, they're something you hop on after a day of work. I don't need to replace it every couple of years because the future will support them for a few more years even when the new gen comes. I'm guessing software will become more and more king, to where hardware doesn't really matter.

So let’s talk about game prices. Every generation they hike the prices of games and their excuse is “games look way better now and it takes more work to make them better.” This is a blatant lie! As someone who has worked on games I can tell you that engines get better with time making it EASIER to produce better graphics and craft worlds. Just look at every Engine demo they show off. Is not one of the main talking points how much easier and much faster it is to create believable worlds? Don’t be conned my friends. Making games does not get harder each generation. They are hiking up prices because people keep buying their lies and paying the higher game prices
I don’t think I will be getting a ps6 any time soon. I been very happy with my base ps5. Also the industry wants to bump prices following gta 6 but they don’t give us the amount of content that is in gta. I havent been buying too many games on sales but it looks like they are driving us there.

Psvr2 is fine loads of good games. Shame as i cant see a vr3 it is so good ..wish more people would try it. Some games like Resi evil are amazing .

I supported Alan Wakes remaster and Ghostbusters remasters and all we got was piles of crap from the industry... Ghostbusters multiplayer was outclassed by a indy studio with midnight ghost hunt, and Alan Wake went from Steven Kings the Dark Half too True Detective and whatever that F that crap was. So NO I WON'T BE SUPPORTING ANY MORE REMASTERS!!! The Industry is COOKED!!! They ruined everything!
