It baffles me how this video can have so many dislikes. This artist has a solid, and I mean a fecking solid middle (which is extremely rare in sopranos singing nowadays) and a brilliant top. Her sense of musicality, legato and embellishments is first grade... What's there to dislike? Ooooh right, she has colours in her voice and people aren't used to that any more! Pity...
@@EmilyGloeggler7984 Oh hello! Thanks for choosing my comment to rebuke. You think it's a pity that I find her good? I on the other hand think it's a pity that you are a member of the widows club. Also a pity you have never heard those sopranos you mentionned live (and never will obviously). But have you ever heard Kolonits live? Maybe I should stop going to the opera until I think I have found an exciting voice such as Tetrazzini singing on an old screechy mono vinyl that distorted her voice. Good day Emily :)
What a joy to hear, the only sad thing is that she is already 50 and we haven’t already heard a lot more of her , some of the ornamentation is extraordinary, I expect too much for some but I love it and she has the skill to carry it off.
Gary Courtenay (Australia)........HOW SENSATIONAL.........Voice is magnificent and technique superb.........every note perfectly placed, and ample breath to support every phrase........where has she been hiding.........until now, only Sutherland could navigate bel canto with such ease and fluidity........what company is she with in these excerpts ???
Thank you for posting a video of La Kolonits! I "discovered" this great artist on You Tube about 5 years ago or so, and was amazed (and still am) at how fantastic she is, and that she isn't more well known!!! BRAVA La Kolonits!
The miserable met strikes again my friend. This lady has a voice beautiful coloratura not pushed or strained. And has yet to sing at any major Opera House. that is very sad. Thank you for the Post. take hear my friend Arnold
My favorite Odabella of nowadays!! Bravissima! 😍😍😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 A soprano with real coloratura, real agility in this role is a wonderful blessing to me... And her rendition of the cabaletta "Trionfai" from the (unfortunately) rare first version (1847) of Verdi's Macbeth is also the best of all renditions I saw. To see her in this role in this version of Macbeth is my dream, I would love to see a real belcantist soprano singing "Vieni t'affretta", "Trionfai" and "Scena del sonnambulismo" ❤️❤️ I hope she will sing in the big opera houses, she is amazing!! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
When she sang Lucia in Budapest, many opera fans went to the theater just for the 2nd act to listen her Mad Scene. Many of them 4 or 5 times. I think they didn' belive there ears.
Thank you so much for this video! She's one of my favourites too, an amazing artist and just like her voice, a truly beautiful person. It's high time for the world at large to get to know her name.
Owing to your uploading, I became to know this amazing singer. Thank you so much. Above all her voice is excellent like real sound., and her skill is the best. It's sad that she has not sung at the major opera houses but I hope she will be known to opera fans worldwide. Then..... would you Iet me know these seoond, third and last songs?
1. La Sonnambula “Ah non giunge” 2. Attila “Santo Di Patria” 3. Macbeth “Trionfa” 4. I Puritani “Vien diletto “ 5. Lucia Di Lammermoor Mad Scene 6. Les Huguenots “ O beau Pays “
Klára Kolonits My God!!! What a privilege to write to me!! Thank you so so much!! I adore your Voice and your personality!! Such a Great Human being!!! Thank you very much!! I still can’t believe how you look and sound so so fresh!! Like a young Girl!! Go on!! Hope that more and more people will learn about your beautiful voice!! And will ask to hear you all over the world!! You are Superb!!!! Thank you so much for making a comment to my Channel!!
@@OperaMyWorld thank you for your wish! To be always curious, always try to get better, study and practice all day, a super talented husband and not to be too succesful..this is the secret, I guess..😁
Definitely one of my favourites of all time. I saw her live in Norma a few years back in Budapest. While she's underrated in the rest of the world's eyes, she's certainly well loved by her audience at home. I can't tell you how overwhelming people's enthusiasm was, but not as overwhelming as her singing. I find that her singing is only getting better as she ages as well. No decline in the voice at all. If anything, her voice is getting richer and fuller, especially as she figures out the lower portions of her voice. She excels in bravura singing, always completely engaged in what she does. But she also has such lovely musicality and feeling for what she is doing. Some have noticed the lack of subtlety compared to say Callas or Sutherland, but I feel that she has her unique sheen of quality. One of my favourite recordings of her is here: ua-cam.com/video/cFjV7XBLPlo/v-deo.html. These are just art songs, but she shades and expresses every word so beautifully.
I couldn't agree with you more! Amazes me every time I hear her and the voice continues to grow and BLOOM ... live in the theatre to experience the harmonics of her beautiful voice and it's majestic POWER is absolutely required as recording cannot do it full justice. Her audience confirms this effect live - Stunning!
Certainly the most thrilling vocal discovery I made in the recent times ... and certainly one of the very few I would travel for to attend a live performance ... not so many singers ever had such a vocal technic combined with this thrilling stage presence, this "excitement" quality that can be felt even in video recordings ... than you OperaMyWorld for such rare documents, as there are still too few documents available about this exiting artist :)
PS : I can't believe she is already 51 ... just like my other favorite "exciting" female singer (Sondra Radvanovsky) ... 51 seems to be a glorious age for some cautious and super gifted artist :)
This video shows clearly that Miss Kolonits is and will be THE coloratura soprano of this century. A voice so outstanding, so clear so full even in the highest notes, we haven't heard since Sutherland retired. What a tragedy that the great opera houses ignored her and are apparently afraid to risk something and give a great talent a chance . And Corona is an additional problem to get known to the world.
She's quite fine and engaging. No patch on Yoncheva's 2012 Lucia though! Though the Met engaged Yoncheva for verismo and Tchaikovsky.. and now she's lost her voice. But hey, Radvanovsky and Netrebko's coloraturaless reign goes on!
Her Norma was an absolute debacle. And yet they applauded her like she is the greatest in the world. It is no surprise me that she has lost her voice singing beyond your capabilities when she's nothing but a pure lyrics soprano. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Arnold Amaral Not a debacle, but not spectacular She was very prudent in singing it, no fire (that's not in her very creamy style) She got offered the role cause Netrebko stepped out At least Yoncheva sang all the nores, though a great Norma she admittedly wasn't
Thank you so much @@OperaMyWorld I have one of these days where my brain is all over the place so everything just gets stuck on the tip of my tongue, LOL
Thank you! I found a clip of her singing it and looked it up. Very different from la luce langue which is a fantastic dramatic Verdi aria and a personal favorite.

2021 December: Tales of Hoffmann in Budapest with Klara Kolonits
Why didn’t the Met pick her up instead of giving us “wannabe coloraturas!!
Because they want to torture us with Peretyatko and Co 🙈
Fatela venire in Italia questo e' saper cantare.....grandissima tecnica e voce molto calda e potente!
Wo war Frau Kolonits als Sony Olga Peretyatko einen Plattenvertrag unterschreiben ließ??? Diese Frau hier ist Wahnsinn! 😍
Csodálatos! Micsoda hang, micsoda tehetség! ❤🌹
Admirable!
