Since 1965, we have sent more than 4,500 Australians from all walks of life overseas to pursue their passion and bring their learnings back to benefit Australia.
No educational qualifications are required to become a Churchill Fellow, and there are no limits of the topic that people can apply to explore as long as there is a community benefit.
Some examples of innovation stemming from Churchill Fellowships in Australia include: the establishment of Questacon, Australia’s first liver cell bank, and the introduction of unit pricing in supermarkets to help people make informed spending decisions.

Churchill Fellows make a positive impact in all areas of our communities, including health, education, the arts, agriculture and more.
A Churchill Fellowship is not an academic scholarship - it offers a practical opportunity for people who see a need for change to travel overseas for 4-8 weeks to learn new skills, acquire knowledge and bring that back to Australia to their communities.
We award up to 100 Fellowships every year, and applications open again 1 March 2024.
