Great to see so many nurses with decades of experience. I'm so old when I started we has glass iv bottles AND glass thermometers! Stainless steel bedpans and urinals 🤣 We wrote our notes on paper lol
I used to be called "jr" as one of the youngest in the mid 80s. Now our newbie docs/residents and fellow nurses tell me "omg you're older than my parents!" Remember putting the tape on the bag/bottle and counting drips? Finger Cots? The hopper room for cleaning out and storing the urinals and bedpans to use on others when needed? Making beds with all flat sheets and no chux?
I remember all of that and tiny morphine tablets where we had to titrate the dosage and autoclave the glass syringes. My how nursing has changed, not really regarding respect
30+ yrs. Love being an LPN many struggles along the way Not with patients but with management pushing to go back to school for RN & for RN to BSN. I have enough experience to teach new RNs that start on our unit lol ❤️ Nurse Blake favorite line “ climbing the clinical ladder to nowhere” 😂
We have 3 types of nurses up here too but called different things. RPN/LPN = registered or licensed practical nurse (2 yr diploma). RN = registered nurse (4 yr degree in BScN). NP = nurse practitioner (2 yr masters after RN degree and can prescribe/diagnose). What's the difference down there between LPN, RN, RN to BScN?
Hey Nurse Blake my girlfriend and 53 of her fellow nurses are coming to your show in San Diego Aug 9. They are all labor and delivery nurses and their unit was just shut down. They worked at Pomerado Hospital if you could shout them out I'm sure they would love it.
If you hate being a nurse stop being a nurse. Nobody wants to be sick or at a doctor's appointment and have to deal with people hating their job. I am getting crappy care because you mad at a job you went to school for and picked.
“Climbing the clinical ladder to nowhere.”
I think that is the BEST line/comment I have heard in forever!
