    Why Do I Feel That in my Body? Explanations of Bodily Symptoms Due to Anxiety, Stress and Panic
    www.paigepradk...
    Health anxiety, formerly referred to as hypochondria is diagnosed as Illness anxiety disorder, somatic symptom disorder or sometimes panic disorder. It behaves like OCD due to the cycle caused by obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors like reassurance seeking, body symptom checking, ruminating, excessive googling and avoidance and safety behaviors.
    People with health anxiety and other anxiety disorders like panic disorder score high on a trait called anxiety sensitivity. Anxiety sensitivity is the belief and misinterpretation that anxiety symptoms and sensations felt in the body are dangerous.
    Health anxiety can hook your attention and reel you in. It can convince you that something may be seriously wrong, and can activate your fear response. It pulls you in and away from everything else that’s important to you.
    Health anxiety thrives on your vulnerabilities and catastrophic thinking, where minor symptoms are blown out of proportion, leading to thinking of the worst case scenarios. But, health anxiety is a treatable condition.

    Almost every second of my daily life is spent thinking im living in my last moments. Im 24 years old, and have so much physical pain throughout my entire body. Im so afraid, constantly. My quality of life is near zero, but i keep pushing. I never had anxiety until last year, and with the extremely severe symptoms of heart attack, stroke, and many other things that happen on a continuous daily basis, doctors say i am fine. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemies. I can hardly do any activities with the ones i love, or do anything i enjoy. I iust work work work because i have no other option, and continue to fight the good fight. Keep pushing, ladies and gentlemen. We will beat this. I love you all❤️

      Knowing your fears are irrational is a great first step. Begin by reminding yourself that the thought or worry is irrational. But, at the same time, be soft and kind to yourself. Talk to your fear or worry and allow it to float there if it wishes, but remind yourself to follow the course of action that is important, valued and matters to you regardless of the worry or fear.

    Paige do you know how to deal with OCD surrounding a real event? I was 21 and someone lied to me about their age by a year which mattered as it made them under the age here.
    I remeber i felt upset, disgust and rumination from that moment..
    this was nearly 5 or 6 years ago,
    I recall adding him once drunk and un adding him, i worry if that was when he was still that age or if he was older. ever since then i suffer with " POCD " and worry about everyones age and if its true, if im evil etc.
    If you could ever do a video on this form of ocd based off events or scary themes.❤

      Recovering and maintaining your recovery from health anxiety is a process of teaching your brain to not fear bodily sensations or symptoms. Every person is different and the severity and anxiety sensitivity varies. Not responding to your sensations is called response prevention and this should always be practiced to maintain your recovery. I use a 5 step process of recovery in my health anxiety course, and most people begin feeling better rapidly, but the cycle can continue with a new symptom until they learn how to maintain their gains. • @KRAZEEIZATION
    @KRAZEEIZATION Рік тому +2

    It’s all common sense really, but you get to become an expert at anxiety because of practicing the fear rituals day in day out! Unlearning them, or releasing new coping mechanisms takes guts tats why we stay stuck because it’s easier to stay where we think safely is that take the leap of faith. All the things we do that we think will protect us, DO NOT PROTECT US! All the things we do to protect us from our fears, do not protect us from our fears! They just keep us in the loop.

    • @PaigePradkoTherapy
      @PaigePradkoTherapy  Рік тому +1

      Yes. You’re right. And it is one thing to understand that, and another thing to practice it. For most, it is a gradual process to stop resisting and avoiding.

      @@PaigePradkoTherapy One thing I notice, does depression have anything to do with it? When I feel down my anxiety gets worse and I feel hopeless, but when I’m happy and upbeat I can definitely deal with it, or it doesn’t seem to bother me at all.
      Regards A

    • @PaigePradkoTherapy
      @PaigePradkoTherapy  Рік тому +1

      Yes. There are so many factors at play that influence our level of anxiety and our ability to tolerate it. Mood certainly plays a major role as well as other factors like overall stress level, fatigue versus sleep quality, diet, genetics, trauma history, severity of symptoms and possibly the length of time that one has struggled with these symptoms and used avoidance and safety behaviors to cope.
      Yet, humans are incredible and have the ability to learn new coping skills and through neuro plasticity can learn and change our own responses and reactions.

      Health anxiety acts like OCD and is thought of as OCD with a health theme. However, according to the DSM, the diagnostic manual, health anxiety is diagnosed as illness anxiety disorder or somatic symptom disorder. That will likely change to OCD in the future.
