If you really think about it, Vocaloids are singing programs and don't actually have real ages. Like when they say Miku is 16 and Rin is 14, it's just the age they were meant to appear. In fact, wouldn't Gakupo technically be younger despite his looks and voice since he was made after Rin? Just a thought~

I'm seeing all these comments about the irony with Kaito x Len being liked and Rin x Gakupo being concidered pedophilia... and I'm here like: "am I honestly the only one here just because I want to hear what these two sound like together, because I've never heard their duets before?" And they do sound nice together. But I don't ship this. Like I don't ship Kaito and Len. But I still like to listen Kaito and Len singing Magnet. Because they sound nice together.
...If two people really like each other, the age is really just a number. Or it should be. I know people who have a 30 year age gap. Sure, they are adults, and probably met after the younger one turned 18, but in this Rin x Gakupo case, if we think that Rin really understands what's going on and really loves Gakupo and Gakupo loves her back, then sure. Okay. Fine.

Going back to the previous thing I was talking about: I could just straight up write a fanfiction where Rin is 23 years old because that is possible with fictional characters even if they have a set age like Rin does. Writing has amazing powers... I'd just say '9 years later' or something, y'know? So please, if you come here, do not complain about the ship being gross. Some people might ship them in the '9 years later' way, but there is no way to get a 23 year old Rin to sing now is there?
I just hope that people would respect other people's ships and not always complain. Because there is always complaining about something. Even stupid things like this: "Miku is underage and Kaito is like middle aged or something eww gross..." "Eww Len and Rin are siblings how can you ship them..." "Gakupo is not gay stop shipping him with other guys..." "Luka belongs to Gakupo so don't ship her with Kaito...".
Can't we just enjoy the music? The purpose of Vocaloids is music anyways, isn't it?

And I just want to point out that all this is coming from a person who does not ship Rin x Gakupo in the slightest. I just honestly wanted to hear what they sound like together, that's why I came here. Also I do not ship Len x Kaito, but I did ship it for a short while like a year ago. Now I ship Gakupo x Kaito, I don't know if anyone cares, but I'm just putting that out there. But I respect everyones shipping, sometimes it just gets a little over the top. People's ships get too real to then to the point when they start hating on others because they do not ship the same thing.
And just a little sidenote here... I witnessed a huge ship war two years ago. People were offending each other and calling others supporters of abusive relationships and even threatened to kill others, just because they shipped two FICTIONAL MOVIE CHARACTERS together.
So please, let's just enjoy the music and ship our ships in our heads and by reading fanfictions or something, but let's not fight over something so small and unnecessary to our lives. It is stupid to fight over a pairing of fictional characters (fictional really is a keyword here). I mean come on. There are much bigger problems in this world than pairings.
I hope this makes any sense and that I didn't offend anyone by doing this. Yes, it is kind of ironic how people have no problem shipping Kaito x Len but hate this ship. But what I wanted to say with this comment is that over all hating other ships and fighting over them is stupid. You can dislike a ship, but in the case of vocaloid, running into people who ship it is easy to avoid. Don't listen to songs with that pairing, or just don't read comment sections on those videos. But do not be that person who writes a comment like "I hate this ship". It just make me and many others wonder why you even clicked on the video.

I suppose people are always going to freak out over pairings that have a pretty big age gap, but I really couldn't care less since it's all fictional. Kaito/Len is my favorite Vocaloid ship and Gakupo/Rin is quickly becoming another favorite of mine. Their voices sound lovely together and they're both really adorable. :3

I think what makes a good couple in VOCALOID is the fact of the voices sounding harmonic together or not.
And Rin's voicebank is older than Gackpoid program.

People complaining about the age gap... Vocaloid is a blank canvas, you can make them anything you want. They're not characters with canon information, they're voicebanks. "Canon age" is similar to canon hair color/weight/height, it's a frame of reference and not a restriction. Miku's official hair color is teal but you can make it green, blue or black. Luka's official height is 5'4" but you can make her 6'2". Rin's official age is 14 but you can make her 50. You can even make her a hand fetishist, a tyrannical princess or a white stork turned human. So there's no real canon, only a frame of reference and widely accepted headcanons.
