Really appreciate the shout-out. I thought you guys would have fun with this one, and you didn't disappoint.
Thanks for your support man
That Shatner voiceover screaming for Michael sounded amazing to be honest. Lol. Have a frightful Friday, guys!
When there's time I'll do a fan edit of the whole movie like that haha
@@FrightfullyForgottenYes!
I honestly can't think of a better word to describe this movie other than fun. It is very enjoyable. I think people have gotten too accustomed to movies either being super serious or full-on comedy. This is a movie that isn't trying to make you have some existential crisis, but it is trying to give you a bit of a roller coaster thrill.
Also, growing up in the '80s, the first thing I think of when I see Ernest Borgnine is Airwolf. I loved that show and he was so likeable on it.
Then, there is the trivia of Anton LaVey appearing in this movie along with Diane (often called his wife at the time, but I don't think they were actually ever married). He also was a consultant for the movie, which is why there is the use of trapezoids along with the inverted pentagrams.
Yeah heard he was in the movie but never noticed
This is one of the movies I looked out for in the TV Guide when the new issue got delivered when I was a kid. I always loved it! That goat make up is fantastic, and the birth of the iconic Shatner mask. Shatner, Skerritt...Eddie Albert!!! Sooooo good. Great review!👍
Thanks. Don't ever recall this being on TV in our neck of the woods
@FrightfullyForgotten the UHF stations in the Philly area had certain times when they would show horror/scifi movies, usually weekend afternoons or evenings. Thats where I first saw many 60's and 70's horror movies. Thats where I first saw Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, Tourist Trap, Sssss, and others like that.
I also used to study the new TV Guide. These made for TV horror suspense movies remain favorites of mine. In Las Vegas they would play on our local channel on Saturdays then repeat after midnight.

i must say, the mashup of the SHAT’s agonized screams with MICHAEL MYERS’ final reel HALLOWEEN setbacks is probably the single most hilarious thing i have seen on your channel. bravo!
Haha thank you
YEAH MAN! When I saw that late night on channel 9 or 11 as a teenager, it was WAY SCARIER than I expected anything with Ernest Borgnine in it to be! The opening credits also introduced me to Heironymus Bosch, so the film changed my life in that way too. Very underrated, supposedly ruined the director's career!
Yeah this would be terrifying to a child late at night
Thank the gods that Ernest Borgnine's eyebrows have not become "Frightfully Forgotten"!!!!!!!!
If I didn't manage mine they'd look the same way!
Blind bought this on DVD years ago just because it had William Shatner in it and really enjoyed it. Watch it every year around the spooky season. Shatner's work outside of Star Trek is also super interesting. Horror at 37000 Feet and Kingdom of the Spiders are great horror cheese, but the never released on disc Disaster on the Coastliner is a must watch for post Trek Shatner fans. The Kidnapping of the President is also fantastic especially for those with a soft spot for 70's Toronto (YELLOW POLICE CARS!!!). Awesome video as always gents.
Yeah he did lots of good stuff after star trek... All those Columbo appearances too haha
Just had a long day at work teaching in Japan. How great to see you two muthas post a new video for me to enjoy with my dinner and wine!
Mmmm wine! Glad to be part of your evening
I've seen this and I enjoyed it for the great character actors, eerie sets, and '70's horror vibe(it feels like something you'd see at a drive-in). The Shatner voiceover for Michael was hilarious!
Sounds like that edit was worth the effort!
I remember seeing this on TV all the time when I was growing up. I always thought it was pretty creepy and solid. That Michael Myers taking battle damage as William Shatner editing had me laughing 😂 Another excellent video, dudes!
Allot of people have been saying they saw this on tv allot. Definitely never saw it here in Wpg back in the day
@@FrightfullyForgotten I could never find it at the 2 video stores we had in my town either, so it was always just when it popped up on TV or on demand lol
Travolta ' s first film 📽️🎥, he just got welcome back kotter in '75 also then carrie in '76 👍📽️🎥. Im sure u guys love" Race with the devil " also from '75 with Fonda , oates , lara parker. Loretta switt ! Spoiler , it doesnt end well for them 😅😅😊👍🥃. Youre good canadian bros 😊
lol the shatner screaming michael myers bit had me rolling
Ahhhhhhhh!!!!
Really enjoyed the video! I’m in my 50’s and have watched a plethora of horror movies and You tube reviews. Your videos in particular typically mention the soundtrack. Yesterday I watched the OG Planet of the Apes and immediately thought of you two while listening to the score which in previous views I did not pay attention to. Thanks for fine tuning my movie viewing experience.
Haha we have been rewatching the entire planet of the apes series. Just finished Conquest the other day
A spock mask slightly altered for the michael meyers mask would have been very scary also 😮😮😅😊
Omg your guys killed me with the William shatner screams with Michael Myers. You guys are the best
I Should do a edit of the whole movie with Shatner lines
Awesome review! I'm a few weeks behind on reviews, I have to get caught up. Shatner probably could have used that hammer and nails he was looking for in Kingdom of the Spiders as weapons against this cult. Gimme a hammer, hammer and nails!
Well you'd better catch up. We need your views hahah
Great review, guys! I've never seen this but always wondered about it. I remember when it was in the theaters. The visual similarity with Michael Myers is pretty crazy. Yeah, might have to give this one a look.
Totally worth a watch it's just good 70s fun
Poltergeist III is unironically my fave in the series. And Devil's Rain is pretty good. One of those films to watch on a rainy sunday.
great video! this movie scared the heck out of my brother and I and it was a great review.
Wow! So glad you got to this one lads.
Not a perfect film but it really chilled me.
Sometimes the films catch you just at the right time and scare the bejesus out of you. I stumbled upon the Devils Rain on TV when I should have been in bed. The ending haunted me.
Shatner did another other post Excorcist Satanic also-ran called Horror at 73,000 Ft. It had a similar effect on me.
Haven't seen that one yet. But am aware of it.. looks pretty tacky haha
I watched this a year or so ago cuz I love the shat an horror films, I was amazed by the crazy horrific effects, what a cast and over the top story.
Yeah the effects are great
Ida Lupino and Anton Levay in the same film! WHO SUMMONS ME FORTH FROM THE PIT?!?!?
You should do a retrospective on child’s play, at least the first 3 movies. Child’s play 2
Is my personal favorite but child’s play 3 I feel is underrated amongst the fans.
Yeah we really like 1 to 3
Such a goofy funny film. Borgnine had some mischievous sense of humour. He said something in an interview about being a mason and that on revealing his secrets he'd have to kill you. Funny in Escape from New York. I wonder if The Incredible Melting Man got some tips from The Devil's Rain? That's a hoot, too. The Carpenter connections I don't think are coincidences. Bryanston distributed his Dark Star, who also did The Devil's Rain. A dodgy history on them.
Actually saw this on the theater back then. Loved it. Thanks guys!!!
This would have been great to see In. The theatre
Thanks again. This movie is a classic of its kind. These made for tv movirs of the horror suspense variety are my favorites
Its funny u mentioning the connection to " the mask " from halloween , i always had heard that its from star trek captainkirk then they trimmed it and painted it white , but in recent years i have heard its actually from shatner in this film , however did they even make masks from this film , was it that big of a hit ? I talked to nick castle two years ago but didnt think of asking that specific of a question he just told me that tommy lee wallace the then prop guy bought it on hollywood blvd . 🥃👍🎥📽️🤔🤔
Yeah it was a captain Kirk mask by Don post studios. There was a spock one too.. legend has it tommy lee Wallace almost got the Spock mask for Myers instead of Shatner
@@FrightfullyForgotten 😂😂😅👍🥃
Excellent review I need to check this out indeed!
It's on Tubi as we speak
@@FrightfullyForgotten good to know il look for a physical copy too eh!
Devil's Rain is a bangerrrrrr.
I actually have this on Blu but have yet to watch it. Looks fun though! I got it for the Shat, of course!
Might give it a chance, I just remember it coming on during Joe Bob's Last Drive in last year and turning it right off halfway through. Cheesy older 70's movies some times just don't do it for me, they're soooooooooo dry and boring at times
For a 70s movie this is quite fast paced
Devils Rain was corney..I do like the corner stull
