If I didn't already have a 2024 YXZ, I'd definitely go look at one after that review. Awesome footage!!! My machine makes me smile as soon as that triple comes to life. I call it "a mechanical symphony" because it sounds so sweet.
Im in a 2016 with 6000 miles now. When everyone said "that'll never work on the east coast" I still break hearts today. The chassis may fall flat in the whoops but fast fire roads and logging roads it still reigns supreme in the NA 64" class.
Love Dirt Trax reviews guys have been busy lately. I own street legal yxz xtr model and love it 2750 miles zero issues. Love there honest opinion and detailed reviews.
I threw my phone down and started dancing to that crazy music, the people at my uncle's funeral were not impressed. After I posted bail and got my phone back I watched the rest of it. Love six speed manual.
@@rhinonaryder6136 My life changed…bought a Jeep Rubicon so I could drive to the trails in other states and have air conditioning and heat. Transitioned to a Raptor 700R for the sand dunes.
I have a 2018 3 pedal with 500 miles on it,just put 2019 gears in it (thanks weller) cant wait to try the manual 6 speed! Very excited do a review when you can
Agreed, a makeover that includes a bump in torque predominately and power, a chassis that’s even more capable and versatile and some tech upgrades for convenience and usability and perhaps more inbuilt storage options for weekend style trail riding. They’ve got the drivetrain reasonably fettled, they just need to give move of a model change style update. Same goes for their four wheeler line up, seriously overdue.
I wish Yamaha would put that transmission in a Rmax. I like my Rmax but with that transmission, I think it would be the best side by side you could buy.
I am looking at these pretty hard to run in the Texas TX4 cross country races. Other competitors are telling me the 64” width is perfect and much less expensive than a maverick R (the only other six’s with dual clutch paddle shifters). Plus, other competitors tell me the courses are cut so the extra power of a Maverick really can’t not be utilized. One of the top drivers is in a Polaris Pro XP. Not sure that all the suspension travel of a Polaris is necessary for what I want to do. I mean 16” travel is more than a dirt bike. LOL I have seen most of the footage of the TX4 races and I really think the suspension travel of the YXZ 1000R is ample enough for my use. Hard to decide between 1000R and 1000R SS. I think the manual clutch model would double as a rally car trainer. Paddle shifters with electronic dual clutch would be just as fun. Clutch kick may be the only skill you could not train on with the SS. The two auto modes would allow anyone to drive it a SS model. My son would want the foot clutch hands down! LOL
They need do update full body and style look with better inside with bus bar for hook ups. Time for them to do a 72inch wide model to. Be nice they up the torque and hp. And do other odds and ends I’d go back to the yxz…..
Also, new for 2024, the GYTR turbo kit from Yamaha racing is bolt up 60% more power. You could add turbo and long travel kit, but at that point you would be close to the cost of a Maverick R.
DCT stands for dual clutch transmission. Yamaha does not use a DCT in the yxz. It uses a traditional single clutch with an auto-manual mode. Basically it will engage the clutch shift the gear and let the clutch back out automatically. DCTs complete shifts faster than a traditional clutch. Many performance cars use DCTs.
Not sure what part of Canada you're from but some words are pronounced differently across the entire country. I'm in Ontario and in my 50 years on this planet I've always said "ZEEE". It's how we learned the alphabet rhyme as kids. It hits the rhyme pattern at every break. G, P, V, Z...and now you just sang the alphabet song to yourself!
I’m in Pennsylvania and I was riding my Polaris sportsman on a trail system. Here, I saw one of these Yamaha’s on the trail and every time he put it in forward or reverse the transmission would clink, clatter and make all kinds of noise. Did not sound very impressive.
I have a 21 ss, just hit 5k miles. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I redid the shocks with new springs, night and day difference.

Yes sir western NC rider myself 3000 trouble free miles while all my buddies rides see the shop love this machine don't need any changes
i have yet to be even for a drive in a sxs yet but this is what i want!!!!!!!!!!!! just a monster

I had a 2016 YXZ…I put well over 5000 miles on it. IT WAS BULLETPROOF AND AMAZING!!!
That's yamaha for you 💪💪💪
Why did you get rid of it though?

Have you seen the new cf Moto yxz clone? They added a turbo and only comes auto, but it definitely has yxz all over it.

Fro a driveability or performance standpoint , what is the difference between this and a DCT ?
Dct shift faster

@@jadebylund7061 - The Yamaha uses a sequential. You basically described a DCT operation.
I would add a high and low range trans. Thats it.
Dear Yamaha, please give the YXZ a rear trailing arm suspension. Signed:everyone.

@@Swindy1794 Yes, that’s normal. The transmission is raw and strong. You learn to love that direct connection the gas pedal has with the rear tires!
Think fast and furious without pieces coming off the machine (hopefully)
Too dated😮
Yet still a performer.
