I could watch these interviews for hours on end. I’m from Atlanta and I have always admired the way Chicago musicians play. But to hear the history and stories behind you guy’s careers is inspiring. I love the way you all support each other and the brotherhood that you have. Keep doing what you’re doing Rex. The world needs to see and hear more of this.
I remember meeting Maurice yrs ago in Charlotte when he had just started hitting with John Kee, and all the top choirs in Charlotte was on this program. I believe he was playing a Collector bass..I was playing with Greg Hoover, and he was encouraging to me..wow love this interview!!!
I’m from the UK and Maurice is my all time favourite. His work with Fred Hammond was on another level. As a drummer I just love the way he plays. GOAT! 🐐
Great interview brothers, I Meet Maurice in NY working with IsaiahSharkey at SOBs. I introduce them to legendary bass player for James Brown Fred Thomas., Maurice has a Great Humble spirit, he change the gospel Bass playing game. Many More Blessings 🙏🏾🎸🔥🔥✊🏾
When I say the Strength album was my game changer I mean it with my soul! It was this combined recording and live VHS product where I started doing my homework on players making the music happen! Maurice Fitzgerald is a unicorn of epic proportion, you can drop him into any genre and he’ll fit in IMMEDIATELY, not over play but also not make it boring! The lock in most of us drummers aspire to have comes from Mo Fitz displaying it session after session, and concert after concert with 🗣️WHOEVER IS SITTING IN THE DRUMMERS CHAIR on that gig! These conversations are beyond amazing! 🫡🫡🫡
When Rex was talking about Kevin Bond's computer on Bible Stories, I lost it!! My man had a whole gaming set up on stage for that session hahaha. Great episode!! Maurice is an absolute LEGEND!!!
When my bredrin sent me the link to this interview my response was to reference this exact recording. The opening 25mins of that Vegas recording is sublime. The whole recording is, but I don't know anything like this opening. Riice was actual joining in on the percussion while Fred was playing😂. An absolute pleasure watch and hear with no ego
More people need to see this interview. Mo Fitz is the standard. John Kee kicked off a lot of musicians. #legend Wish Jeff "LO" was still alive for you to talk to him.
Please do a documentary Maurice. You story is literally a movie man. Your definition important to the music culture. We need it.
Mo has been my favorite bass player and I don’t even play bass lol. I’ll buy records just because he played on it because I knew it was gonna be good

Hi, this is Kurt Carr 😂😂
I’ve listened to this twice already. One of my favourite bass players. His lock with Marvin McQuitty on the vegas recording is unmatched imo

Mannnn…. There was like 2-3 years where I ONLY listened to Maurice! And I stole absolutely everything he did note for note. 😂
True inspiration!!
