Holy cow - this line was something special. I first saw them in the lot on semis night, and the only word I could use to describe these guys is “relentless”. I felt like I had been chased by the world’s most accurate sniper/marksman for twenty minutes, and I couldn’t wait to watch them again the next night. These guys rank up there in my top three lines all time, right alongside 2004 SCV for how influential they were to my approach to music and marching percussion. Thanks for this!
Amazing how with all the success Paul Rennick had with UNT, bear in mind he started his DCI teaching career in the early 90's with BD, Skyryders, VK, etc...took until 2006 to finally win his first Sanford. Fast forward 17 years later, he is one of the more revered percussion minds in DCI with 8 DCI Percussion trophies to his name. Hell, they may change the name of that Trophy.
The PR dallas lot was my first time seeing a dci line in person. I chased that sound until i aged out in 2012 and never got there. These guys are legends in my book!
I marched in the percussion section with Phantom Regiment's original Scythian Suite in 1984. It was special to me because it was my age out year. I will say this; the way Paul arranged the opener that we played in his style makes me wish that we would have been able to play the music that he wrote for the battery !! Plus, I liked the design of this show much better than ours as this show stayed aggressive even during the ballad as it was able to convey the intent of the music the whole show. This is one of my favorite years of my corps to watch !! SUTA Thank you for this perspective.
I’ll never forget being in high school getting hyped over the IP videos of phantom and coats from that summer. Peak dci for me and I didn’t even match that summer
There was only one thing he heard in the snares at the end of a 12 min show. That is absolutely insane. Such a clean run and much deserved win for that percussion section. Holy smokes.
Hi! I love y’alls stuff! I know the season is long over, but I’d like to see y’all react to some of the lower placing ensembles in wgi 2023! Like burleson centennial, (10th in psw) and Q2!

Agreed, definitely on my Mount Rushmore of drumlines all time! The semis finals judge tape might be better than the finals run too. Nuts. - Evan

One of the most deserving drum trophies ever in my opinion. 2006 was competitive as hell, but this line was seriously on a different tier

Hopefully once he isn't involved in DCI anymore! Imagine SCV and Rennick winning the "Paul Rennick award for high percussion

Do you have ‘08 PR?
I don’t actually. But I’m wondering if I can get it. I’ll ask around.
