Bulleit Bourbon Renewal by Jeffrey Morgenthaler

Half Full on The Daily Beast presents Bartenders at Home. This drink is the Bourbon Renewal, a cocktail I came up with nearly 20 years ago. Recipe:
Bourbon Renewal
1.5 parts bourbon
.75 parts fresh lemon juice
.5 parts creme de cassis
.5 parts simple syrup
1 dash Angostura bitters
Shake ingredients with ice until cold.
Strain over fresh ice into an old-fashioned glass.
Garnish with a lemon wedge, or if in season, fresh currants.
