    My two cents: If you"Excel" in a corporate job and want to show off your Excel skills, talk to your Learning (HR) team and offer them in-house training. That's the most effective way to bring values to the organisation, and getting people to know your values. :)

    Do you know a workaround to specify what window view the tab opens in? I've tried Microsoft and they suggested java and the API which I'm not currently an expert at. I use multiple windows of the same workbook and the behavior of opening a selected tab to a random window is beyond problematic when I'm collecting data from one window for another and I never know which window will be replaced by my tab selection.

    Hi Leila,
    I discovered your site accidentally and love it, including your style of educating as it is helping me get better at using Excel. I have seen in your videos and others that the use of merged columns is discouraged and wanted to know how to handle this when I need to group a series of rows that collectively form a unit of transaction. e.g., if I am tracking expenses across multiple events across multiple sites, I am using a sheet where individual expenses are grouped under a single event id, which along with other event-level details are shown as a merged row (e.g., event id, event location, total expenses etc).
    May be you have already done a video on this and appreciate your guidance. Thanks

    Got a Google Sheets question. I'm writing it here on your most recent video post so you'll see it. Is there a way to create a drop down list with sub drop downs. Right now the only thing I can find are dependent drop downs which involve a separate column of data/choices that opens up when you make your first choice. What I'm talking about is when you hover the cursor over the drop down menu choice and you automatically get a sub-drop down list to choose from. When you make your choice from the sub-drop down list it populates your choice in the original column. Not a separate column of data to choose from.

    I wish I had learned Excel skills instead of wasting my time on Python, R, and SQL. Now I’m a senior data scientist with no job prospects, while the Excel gurus are making millions with their pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Maybe I should watch this video and start from scratch. 😂

    What do you think about the microsoft 365 copilot ... is than excel not a tool - which everyone can use? or what do you know so far about the copilot in excel?

      Haven't tested it much yet. I'm sure it will help being more productive - just like any AI tool out there. But I doubt it will completely replace actual skills. At least not for some time.

    how does this compare to the looming capability that Copilot in Excel will bring?

    • @JordanGoldmeier
      @JordanGoldmeier 11 місяців тому

      Copilot is an additional way to analyze data - but it won’t affect your ability to make money using your excel skills

    • @jimmydst
      @jimmydst 11 місяців тому

      but surely with the way that you can interrogate the data and automate the outputs, this will change the way that you market your skills? Copilot will simplify commands and outputs and so I believe the skills required will move to prompt engineering. Not challenging just interested in your view !
