I'll be honest, my tank maintenance has declined drastically since setting it up. Once in awhile (maybe once a month) I'll wipe the glass down and change out the water with a turkey-baster but other than that, it's pretty self--sufficient. I haven't seen any mold and I would actually attribute that to the large population of isopods that have grown in there with them! I also have macro-algae in the water, so I think that helps keep the water clean too. Hope this helps!
Have had them on and off for 3 years. Pretty easy to keep imo. Just have lots of plants for them to hide, fine substrate if you can and a bit of water. I find they spend most of their time out of the water. We also live in Florida so I don't worry about heating the tank. They eat anything... fish flakes, live food, bugs that will grow in the tank, veggies, etc. Biggest tip I'd have though is to have a secure lid-- they are escape artists!
How often do you do tank maintenance? I know isopods can help , but how do you deal with mold issues? Thats my biggest concern.

Sofishticated Keepers what kind of substrate did you use in the tank? How are the plants doing
Do you need to replace the whole gravel and everything? Like once a year or not?
Nope
How long have you had them? On a scale from 1-10, how would you recommend these to a newbie in aquariums?
