  • In this video I share how our current meal plan has come about. (From the early college years to how we live now with 10 kids.) I have to be very thoughtful about how I plan the meals and I can't just wing it anymore. I also don't want to waste any food! This family runs on its stomach and I want to keep all those bellies full! #largefamilylife #largefamilylogistics

You need to get a deep freezer and start prepping freezer meal. For example Cook 10lbs of ground chuck at a time then section it out for future meals. Only Season at this time with salt and pepper. Season it for the desired meal when you thaw it. This way you can use it in any recipe.

If you’ve followed them for a while, you’ll know that they don’t have room for a deep freezer in their home. Space is extremely limited!

While raising 5 children and working full time, on Sunday’s, I would make some kind of roast, a pot of meatballs and sauce, maybe a soup, this way, during the week, I’d just make sides and we had healthy meals

I wish I was better at meal planning. It’s just my husband and I and he is pickier than most kids. So I despise cooking. We eat a lot of sandwiches! I love how you support Naomi’s love 💕 of cooking and baking. Learning to cook and bake is a wonderful education! She is so talented!

@@TheHappyCaravan oh my husband won’t eat vegetables, beef (except ground beef) most pork, spaghetti noodles, etc. He wants junk food like fish sticks, frozen pizza rolls, tacos, ketchup sandwiches (ketchup and bread), etc. I also wanted to say Naomi is getting lessons in math and chemistry by cooking and baking.

Intention is everything. You have a good system that works for you. Home made food every day. I love how the kids gather around when you are cooking. I too will miss the basil. Take it easy , we all want a take home baby for you. Do the easiest possible way and put your feet up.

My kids love Italian Wedding soup - I make it in the Instant Pot. First I make turkey meatballs from scratch (easy) and then I use an Instant Pot Italian Wedding Soup recipe - - lots of parmesan on top. And my family loves your channel!! Thank you for inspiring me (as a mom) and my kiddos (cello players, future homeschooling moms, guitar player). My daughters are inspired to have a big family like yours and I think that is so sweet. You are doing a great job :)

I love seeing how others plan and shop for meals. My husband and I grocery shop together and go every two weeks. I make a two week meal plan after checking our freezer and pantry and then make a list of exactly what we need to make those meals. I used to spend so much time worrying all the way home from work about what I would make for dinner only to get home and realize I was missing an ingredient. Planning meals and writing everything down that we need assures me that we have everything needed. Thanks for sharing your meal planning with us. I love seeing your "what we eat in a week" videos. Take care and God bless.

I don’t do meal planning, per se. But when I make my grocery list I write 3 meals I can make during the week. Then I make sure to buy the ingredients. I guess that’s meal planning. But as I said it’s just 3 days. The other days I wing it.😊

I tend to forget about lunches/easy grab items for work! We have food, but not thought out when we are on the go. I need to start printing recipes out. Try making baked ziti. It’s ziti with ground beef sauce, ricotta or cottage cheese, and mozzarella. All mixed together, baked and eat. One Sunday after church you need to visit little Italy in the Bronx. Be prepared to buy real grated cheese, home made pasta, the best pastries and cookies around. Wish you well.

There are lots of variations and it’s a pretty cheap way to feed a crowd. We also make soup beans and serve them over rice and eat cornbread on the side. It is literally whatever beans you prefer, with plenty of onions and garlic, seasoning to taste and a lot of broth to make it “soupy”. This is a staple at our house!

Ok! Yes we eat it for lunch but it’s a simple way to get the family fed!❤️ I found out the correct Spanish spelling is “chilaquiles” and I found some really interesting variations online too. For our family I use 12-18 corn tortillas, 18 eggs, 2 bell peppers, one onion, 3/4 pounds of cheese and two tomatoes. I dry off the tortillas in oil then sautée the onions and bell pepper. I put the eggs in and let them cook slowly, then I add the cheese and let it barely melt, then I turn off the heat and add the tomatoes.

I wish I was good at meal planning cause some nights I’m deciding what I’m making right before I start cooking. I’m good at taking out the meat but what to do with it is where I fall short. An there is only 3 of us and everyone is picky. It drives me crazy

Sometimes the kids make eggs, breakfast burritos, yogurt, cereal. Sometimes I make a fancy breakfast, sometimes the kids make a fancy breakfast on their own… it’s always creative in the kitchen in the morning.😅❤️

Most people do not have the financial resources to spend on food that you do even if their families are smaller
    We can certainly all learn
    Learn from you

When I was a child, I'd eat half a sandwich, lunch meat, lettuce, one fruit, a boiled egg, box raisins, I didn't like sweets much, we had the real fruit, no fruit snacks, mac & cheese was not boxed.

Would it would be really cold is have you compare living here by showing how much you pay for your house in Bealls and food compared to another state like you said such as San Diego and then just tell her son is an easy living in New York versus San Diego San Diego

    • @TheHappyCaravan
      @TheHappyCaravan  7 місяців тому

Yes! We paid much less for everything back when we lived in San Diego, but part of that is because of inflation!

I’ve been bored and struggling to rotate new recipes. This was inspiring😊
In middle and high school our school lunch options included funnel cakes, nachos, mozzarella sicks, stuffed crust pizza. 🥲
