    RULES:
    Each player has a prison on the right side of their board and an airfield on the left. Whenever you capture a piece, you place that piece in your prison. On your turn, instead of making a normal move, you may perform a hostage exchange. Transfer one of your prisoners to your opponent’s airfield to take an appropriate piece from their prison and place that piece on any empty space on the board, this is called dropping a piece. The piece transferred must be of equal or greater value than the piece released from prison. The relative piece values are: queen is the highest, followed by rook, then bishop and knight are of the same level, with pawn the lowest value. A hostage exchange may not be refused by your opponent.
    After you drop the released prisoner, your turn ends. On your turn instead of moving, you may drop any piece that is in your airfield. You may drop pieces to any empty space on the board. You may drop a piece to give check or checkmate. You may not drop a pawn on the 1st or last row. If you drop a pawn on the 2nd row, that pawn is allowed the 2 step move option. A dropped pawn may not be captured via En passant immediately after the drop. A dropped rook on a rook starting square can be used in castling so long as all the normal castling requirements are followed. You may drop a bishop on any space.
    Your pawns may only be promoted to pieces higher than a pawn if that piece is available in your opponent’s prison. You pick which piece to promote to and replace the pawn with that piece in your opponent’s prison. Captured promoted pieces are placed in the prison and treated as that piece.
    If there are no pieces available to promote to, then the pawn may not advance to the 8th row. Furthermore, if your opponent’s king is diagonally in front of the pawn and there is no available piece to promote to, then the king is not in check as the pawn is unable to advance to the 8th row. However, you opponent would also not be allowed to capture any piece that your pawn could promote to as that would immediately put the player in self-check.
    The first player to checkmate their opponent, wins.

    I just came up with a chess variant idea not sure if it works: you're able to capture your own pieces and then place that captured piece anywhere on your side of the board. If that is too flexible try you're able to capture your own pieces and then place the captured piece on the square where the piece that captured it was.

    • @fos1451

    Where 2 player team

    P1:white and p2:black
    A peice that player 1 captutes goes to the hand of p2 who can drop it
    Same goes for p2 giving peices to p1 hence the different colors
    Must be played with time and no increment
    Teamwork is everything and freezing the board is a viable option to stop peices transfers

      Yes, and for that reason, mating attacks need to be up close and personal. Knights are generally more useful than bishops because they can’t be blocked. Once you force the king to move, remaining drops can be right next to him. With the right series of drops, the opponent never gets a chance to drop in response.

    This does not seem like well thought out variant.
    The fact that opponent can not refuse exchange combined with the fact the bishops are considered equal to knight will likely mean that knights will be exchanged for bishops any chance somebody gets. This will result in weird patterns of trading better developed minor pieces for worse developed ones only to do exchange of knight for bishop to restore bishop pair.
    I know that this could be considered part of the tactics, part of how it is supposed to be played, but It looks like it is just a oversight. I admit I only make assumptions, that I have not actually tried it, but it seem to me like poorly thought out attempt at making two player bug-house like variant. I think that either bishops should be considered more valuable then knights or exchanges reusable, to make this variant better.

    • @deadersurvival4716
      @deadersurvival4716 Рік тому

      A) I don't even know what you just said. That might literally be the most confusing 2 sentence paragraphs that I've ever read.
      B) No, Bishops are about equal to Knights in any "drop variant". This is because as a leaper, Knights aren't constricted to anyone's bullshit, and as a 2-1, they're the only piece on the board that can get a queen, for relatively free; which is even stronger as you can only make trades if you can get an equal or stronger piece, meaning the only way to get a queen back is to either promote to it, to give a queen back, or to hope your opponent is an idiot and gives you your queen for a weaker piece.
      C) If there's ANY error in setup, it's that both of the 1d sliders should be in the same value, not Rooks being stronger. But even that makes sense, as Bishops can, at most, get 14 spaces (7 in on direction, 6 in the other, plus the space it's on counting for both) while a Rook will ALWAYS have 15 (7+7+1).
      D) What's more reusable than being able to drop pieces in a variant missing a traditional endgame of running out of pieces? Like, seriously, the entire gimmick is that, unless you and your opponent ignore the entire drop mechanic, you physically CANNOT run out of material to trade. And if that's the case, you can't blame the variant if you're not playing the variant. At that point, you'd be playing vanilla chess, but with a designated graveyard.

    You almost can not place your opponent in direct check by a returning a piece to the board

    • @deadersurvival4716
      @deadersurvival4716 Рік тому

      ...Why would you ever deny a trade for a more powerful piece?
      The recipient is forced to get a stronger piece, that they can place, for no cost, at any time, in return for a weaker piece at that exact moment... Is it really being "forced" if you'd be an idiot to not take it in the first place?
      Also, learn how to control a board, and dropped pieces aren't an issue. As with most games, the counter is actually thinking ahead.

    so whats the use of the airfield?????????

    • @tomleslie6165
      @tomleslie6165 2 роки тому

      The airfield holds pieces that have already been "paid" for through an exchange. There's a very cool effect when one player goes on an offensive. Because they are exchanging hostages for every piece they drop, it's really important that they get maximum advantage out of their attack. Otherwise, at the end all of their pieces will be on the board (and subject to all the normal constraints on movement) while their opponent will have a lot of pieces in their airfield, from where they can be dropped *anywhere*. In most situations, having a piece in the airfield is actually better than having it on the board, because of how easily it can be deployed on attack or defense anywhere on the board. And of course, when you have a piece in your airfield, you don't need to give your opponent anything (more) to return it to the board, so it can be particularly devastating.
