I remember my first brilliant move. Both of my rooks were protecting my knight from my opponent's rooks. I saw that if I moved the knight it would be a check. My opponent would capture my knight, but since my opponents rooks were literally in the other side I would capture them, and when I captured one it was a check again so I was able to capture the other rook and be up 5 point of material.
The reason you didn't get a blunder when you blundered your queen, is that it only counts as a blunder if it significantly worsens your position and winning chances. Since you were already completely crushing him, even giving up your queen didn't change your winning chances much, so it didn't count it as a blunder.
1:39 I think that strong sacrifice and a move that's hard to find by the engine is the same idea. Mostly because chess engine for better effeciency will consider unequal trades as the last step. And these trades might be brilliant sacrifices
no. brilliant moves are nowadays alot easier to get. the were reprogrammed. in the past, brilliant moves equaled to outplaying the engine, now, it just means a sacrifice, no matter if it's the best move or not.
To justify a move is or isn’t a blunder, stockfish looks at the changing of the advantage. It will only consider a move blunders when the position goes from winning to draw, or draw to losing. You still have a rook which is enough to win through the position, so stockfish thinks it’s not a blunder.
What I find is that many brilliant moves follow blunders where you missed something on the previous move, and that same move that was best before becomes brilliant
His problem was although he learnt what the engine considers a brilliant move is, he didn't learn what the engine considers blunders, mistakes, and misses to be. Especially blunders, which is when you "sacrifice" a piece or make a move that swings the evaluation in a massively negative way. Saccing a queen while up more than 5 points of material mostly just nets you a mistake or miss.
So I actually one game accidentally made a brilliant move (I knew the move was good but I thought it would either be a blunder or a great move) the move was a knight sacrifice to ruin black’s long castle.
