I LOVE that you save & use scraps in SEW many fun ways. I also save salvages. Fellow quilters/sewists would laugh at me because it wasn’t “the thing” to do. Now it seems many more are following our lead! It’s SEW fun! Next to nothing has to be wasted! Some even use thread pieces. I LOVE it❤
New subcriber here. Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you for your tips and ideas. I will be making LOADS of bags for anytime gifts. Great tutorial!
I used freezer paper for stabilizer when I sold decorated T-shirts, it works well for appliqué. Enjoyed this great video, maybe I need to get busy and make some gift bags! 👍😃💖
When bias tape ravels as it did in this video, my solution is to trim it, fold in under once the a second time on the skinny end and either top stitch, hand stitch or glue the folded area in place. It might be worth a try. Darling project, thanks for tutorial.
Thank you for showing the feet and stitches on your machine, I have the same machine, and while I have played with some of the stitches and feet, I always try the ones you suggest, to see if they work for me. The project is cute gift bag, to put a quick gift into for the Christmas season.
You are so welcome! I know what you mean--there are so many feet! I am thrilled this is helpful seeing them being used. YAY! So happy you are going to make these!
I bet she would like that. Or, you can make her a halloween bag. Here is the link to MSQ and the nesting pumpkin template. www.missouriquiltco.com/products/missouri-star-pumpkin-nesting-templates?variant=40481049968675
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’m thinking I want those templates! I think they would be so versatile! I love all the bags you made and have made! I always love your tutorials! They are always so easy to follow!❤
Beautiful bag but alot of work for something to give away It would have to be to someone who can appreciate handmade items and would reuse it. Thank you for the video. ❤
You are so welcome! So happy you are going to make them! I love the templates, too! I think they are sold separately. I find myself using the tree one the most.
Very cute gift bags! From the heart instead of the store, Love idea for using the templates which MSQC has so many adorable ones. I was just looking at them the other day online. I think I will make some before the holidays. Thank you for sharing!
I love freezer paper for that purpose. For protecting the iron when using fusible interfacing, it doesn't work, however. The fusible won't adhere well with the wax side down and will cause the fabric to stick and if you flip it over, you will get wax all over your iron.
Ohhhh! These would be amazing with reverse applique! LOVE that idea! Thank you! Fray check may do the trick! Thank you! Great idea! Thank you for watching, too!

I want to thank you for the tip on the parchment paper. It saved my iron
Yay! You are so welcome! Happy it helped!
I can only see myself doing this for fellow sewist/quilty friends.. non crafters just wont appreciate the effort, cost ect or reuse it
I understand. I am going to use them, but I can see why others may not want to.

I bet she would like that. Or, you can make her a halloween bag. Here is the link to MSQ and the nesting pumpkin template. www.missouriquiltco.com/products/missouri-star-pumpkin-nesting-templates?variant=40481049968675

Excellent video !! I love how you teach and explain things so I decided to subscribe to your channel. Keep up the good work !
Oh, thank you SO much! And welcome to my channel!
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
These are so cute!! Thanks for a great tutorial!!
You are so welcome! Glad you like them! ❤️
The MSQC Christmad templates are so cute, but seem very pricey. Another idea would be to download an image from the internet andke your own template.
Yep! You sure can! I mentioned that and also using cookie cutters . ❤️
I expect a gift this year in one of these Mom ❤
Great video 😊
You’ve got it! ❤️
Really cute bags. Thank you for the video.
My pleasure! So glad you like them! ❤️
Cute bags!
Thank you! ❤️
So cute! I’m definitely doing this but I might do Cricut vinyl instead of the applique. It’s lovely but it could take some time.
That's a great idea! I love it!
If you think the recipient won’t reuse the bag, you could also embroider the To/From names on it and tell them to give the bag back for next year 😂
Oh my goodness! I love that idea! 😀 Thank you for sharing!
I just used your MSCQ link. Thank you.
Awesome, thank you so much! 🥰
Use No Fray on the ends of the bias tape you used for the ribbon. It will not fray and is clear. TFS. Cute bags
Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful bag but alot of work for something to give away It would have to be to someone who can appreciate handmade items and would reuse it. Thank you for the video. ❤
I think many would appreciate the handmade bag as well as sustainability aspect. They also work up pretty quick too. 😊
Did you sew the bottom of the lining shut?
I did, yes. You can do it by hand or by machine.
💜💜💜
Thanks for the love! 🥰
Hi I saw fat quarters using the crazy 8. I was wondering if you have scrap crazy 6". It was a gift. May please show how you do it. Thank you
Hi! I don't have the Crazy 6 set, but my guess is it is the same idea. I could be wrong, though. I wish I could help!
@@SewtheDistance thank you
My grandkids would LOVE THESE!!! What a great video! I have the MSQC mitten template, wish I had others! Thanks for a wonderful video! Love it!!!
You are so welcome!

You are so welcome! Glad you like this project!
Parchment paper has a right and wrong side?? I’ve never heard that before.
It doesn’t normally but this Reynolds parchment has writing on one side which is why I like it.
Freezer paper has a waxed side and will adhere to the back of your project to stabilize for sewing.
I love freezer paper for that purpose. For protecting the iron when using fusible interfacing, it doesn't work, however. The fusible won't adhere well with the wax side down and will cause the fabric to stick and if you flip it over, you will get wax all over your iron.
I love reusable gift bags!!! These would also be super cute done in reverse applique!
Maybe some fray check on the bias tape will help?
Ohhhh! These would be amazing with reverse applique! LOVE that idea! Thank you!
Fray check may do the trick! Thank you! Great idea!
Thank you for watching, too!
The templates that you showed. Is that a set or just a group of templates?
It’s a set but you can also get them individually.
@@SewtheDistance Chris di you know the # so that I find at Missouri Star. Thanks
