These videos convey very little of what the show sounded like and felt like in person. And who knows how long they will be together, and/or playing at this level. It made my love for them and for playing the drums and for music grow to an even deeper, more beautiful level. John has undoubtedly been the catalyst, as he has elevated all of them. Chad has improved so much from the last time John was with them. Anthony is energized and much improved. And Flea is still awesome. But their collective sound is something that has to be experienced in person.
I was at the Fonda show in LA last April and I’m seeing them again in San Diego. I second that as well, they haven’t sounded this good in a long time and I’m convinced that John’s return injected new life back into all the band members again. If you can afford it, because I know tickets for the tour are damn expensive, absolutely go no matter where you’re sitting.
I wasn’t sure if his playing chops would still be as good as they once were after he’d been away for ten years… but honestly his playing and backup vocals both sound as good as ever. Maybe even better than ever. When his heart is in it, he’s such a great and unique guitarist.
I wouldn't say that John and Flea were created to play together. It's just that the most popular albums were recorded with John, so many people associate him with this band. All their guitarists were talented and brought something of their own to the band.

As a longtime fan who followed the Peppers since the mid-80s, I rememeber when John joined the band and then the release of Mother's Milk. I’m going in June!! It’s a life’s dream, honestly
My dude, you really expect me to read all that shit by you?
Man Johns palm and left hand muting is unbelievable. It’s all the notes he’s not playing that makes his playing so smooth
Exactlyyyy
I wasn’t sure if his playing chops would still be as good as they once were after he’d been away for ten years… but honestly his playing and backup vocals both sound as good as ever. Maybe even better than ever. When his heart is in it, he’s such a great and unique guitarist.
@@400_billion_suns yeah 💯 his playing has evolved again. Clearly he has been playing a tonne outside of the rhcp’s
@@400_billion_suns This is 100% the best I’ve ever seen him
Brilliant camerawork. The attention to John is necessary, it's genius at work
I like whoever is filming knows all the solo parts for Frusciante and is filming those, his solo stuff is excellent
The smile in Flea's face at the end of the intro to Black Summer... looking and following John's count. That pretty much says it all.
...I think i just saw Flea's balls 29:05
1:14:04 ...actually no i didn't...

Watching John and flea jam again is so good. They were made to play together in this universe
yes
I wouldn't say that John and Flea were created to play together. It's just that the most popular albums were recorded with John, so many people associate him with this band. All their guitarists were talented and brought something of their own to the band.
@@jullia7741 I think they were. Hence why those albums are so good
Chad just keeps getting better, always been on time but it sounds like it gets easier for him all the time. Definition of a great rock drummer
Chad is a monster drummer!!
He's a beast 💪🏼😤

John is the best thing that happened in my life and the fact he's back is giving me hope and reason to live.

Man, I cannot thank you enough for this video. That signature John smile when he walked out on stage is everything. Thank you, thank you!!
Though I was not young enough , I started to like RHCP at the age of 41 when Fruciante was absent.I've missed him these 11 years. For these 11 years I bought all of their albums and some of their DVDs.
The best thing about Frusciante is the amount he improvises. Some of the cool stuff he does just on the spot, and only ever does it once.
John is back, life is good, John is just amazing, brillant
I'm so happy they are playing "The Zephyr Song" again. Underrated song. Wish they still did "Don't Forget Me"

The view is great first of all, second just like old times. I grew up listening to them and the talent is still on point. Wonderful to see the love they share still there. My son is 18 and I am almost 50 and we listen together as I teach the joy of music to him. Thanks again.

As a longtime fan who followed the Peppers since the mid-80s, I rememeber when John joined the band and then the release of Mother's Milk. He has always been someone I have adored from day one, and I am beyond thrilled to have him back for a third time. Can't wait to see the boys on tour this summer! And ditto to what a previous subscriber said about all the focus on John during this performance. It's much appreciated for those of us who are absolutely mesmerized by him.
Can’t believe how good these guys still sound. Even songs they haven’t played in so long, like If You Have to Ask… sounded immense and every bit as tight and funky as the album they recorded 30 years ago!
