I used to be self conscious to the point that I would miss school to just avoid people. I have been seeing a therapist and it's really helped. But seeing your videos have been so inspirational. Ugh same girl! My hair does this thing in the back where it has broken off in the past and now its shorter then the rest of my hair. I used to hate going to school like that !
I'm still in the process of transitioning. I used to straighten my hair all the time and my ends would literally die. I did a big chop last year during summer break and my hair was very short. Since it was so short, I would straighten it again because I love long hair. Then in January (this year) I decided enough was enough and I wanted my hair to be healthy and shiny again. Right now I can say that I'm making great progress and I haven't straighten my hair since and I plan to keep going on. This channel has helped me SOOO much on gaining confidence for my hair. I've learned how to style my hair on this channel, how to minimize frizz, and I even learned how to do some easy hairstyles!😊 All in all, thank you Lisette for helping me and teaching me that curly hair is very beautiful too. I love you so much!😘😘❤️

Icy April Ugh, I'm having a similar struggle you used to have. I big chopped 5 months ago, trying to grow it out, and I'm SO tempted to buy a thin flat iron and straighten it again because I love long hair too and I look terrible with an afro! Goodness, it's just not growing fast enough...

Where's the mixed girls at?🙋🏻 lol I'm half Black and half Japanese, and I used to always hate that my hair was curly. When I got my hands on a flat iron in middle school, I stayed flattening my hair every week. By 11th grade, I decided enough was enough. My hair wasn't too damaged but it was enough to make me want to change. Ever since Lisette's first curly hairstyles vid, I've only been straightening my hair only up to 4 times a year and have been slowly cutting off split ends. It was the best decision I've ever made, and I thank Lisette for inspiring me from that one video. I love my curls now 😊😊❤️
Edit: Why am I just now seeing all these comments after 2 whole years😂 Y’all are the bomb forreal. I didn’t even know this comment blew up like that. Also, I do have an update: I no longer straighten my hair, and now like my hair curly more than I like straightened haha. What a change 💞💞💞 Also, my hair is as healthy as ever!

My hair is like 3b/3c and no matter how I sleep with my hair at night, it looks a mess the next day and kinda stiff and I end up having to spray my entire head with water. I️ tried putting my hair up in a pineapple , putting it in a bonnet and it just ends up staying in that shape! helpp

I just found your videos, they're so great! My mom is german, with straight hair and I never learned how to take care of my curls.
Actually... I don't even know if I have curls. She's been always combing my hair and I carried that sort of pillow around on my head.
Then I started relaxing.
For 2017 I started my personal Project: Back to natural.
When I saw your videos today, I found the courage to just go into the bathroom and do a big chop.
I ordered some of the products you use and I am so curious how this journey will turn out.
No more relaxing. I just wish my hair would grow faster. I am soo impatient!

When I was younger and had no idea how to take care of my hair I would brush it and make it a huge frizzy mess. When I first got my hands on a flat iron when I was in 4th grade I was constantly straightening it to try and “tame” it. It wasn’t until the middle of 6th grade that I discovered your videos and finally started taking care of my hair . I still get comment about my hair about how “it looks much better straight” or “ why don’t you straighten it” (some coming from girls with naturally curly hair who just wear their hair up all the time) but I get way more compliments on how beautiful my hair is and I never let anyone depict the way I style my hair 💓
