Comment Exclusive to Finch listeners. Back in 2005 I was in a school shooting, and after a series of events I found myself in a new place unfamiliar to me, working at a cemetery mowing lawns, digging graves and smoking cigarettes. This song in particular was a song that I discovered on my own, After the shooting so it really had no assigned memory attached to it other than it being a bookmark Song in my life when I was utterly broken, reliving trauma every day, feeling alone. This was my song back then. First it was the studio version, then the acoustic version, and somewhat recently I discovered this version it it re awakened all of those thoughts and I am experiencing them as if they were moment ago. I know that’s a lot of random information but this song gives me BIG emotions. It reminds me where I’ve come from, what I’ve been though, the aftermath, and my existence now. Chapter after chapter, I am still here. Makes me wonder,, someone end story is just a chapter in someone else’ life. When my story ends, I’ll just be someone’s chapter.
Dang it !!!! Been looking for this song for years ! I remember I used to listen to this song back in my high school years ! All the way back to 2013-2014. But I couldn't find it cuz I didn't remember the name of it. But for strange reason or another, I found it in a live Facebook video I did 9 years ago. sooooo damn happy !!!
the first version i heard was an under water sounding napster-stolen version - i was surprised by the album version when i ended up buying it. man, i'd like to get my hands on the first version i heard!
@@mirandah7863 YES YES YES same here. Heard it off of grokster in middle school. I'm 31 now and that version has eluded me all this time and it was so good.
Nate actually sounds younger on here than he did on the original song from over a decade ago. I actually prefer this version now. Such a beautiful song.
This song and Miro from Say Hello To Sunshine were inspired by character's in Orson Scott Card's books Ender's Game, Speaker For The Dead, Xenocide and Children of the Mind. Primarily Ender's Game (Ender) and a scene in either Speaker for the Dead or Xenocide (Miro). The best book series I've ever read.
back in the day i had a different version of this song, can't find it >.< had some kind of distortion effect on the voice... EDIT: found it here: eZBuwdFT0Ng
Where is the original acoustic version from like 18 years ago that you could only find on grokster, Napster an limewire etc.????? Who still has it????!!!??? I want it! Edit: NVM I forgot I found it a few years ago lol.

Alyona Sokolova Me too..
Nate's voice is so powerful and unique
I always thought I understood the message. Spoke to my soul
Can't wait to see them in Chicago on Tuesday... I just learned this on guitar too. Such a great band.
Best song ever !!!
this is the song that I'd always play with my guitar together with my friends during my teenage years. :)

agreed
i was thinking the same, about the voice.
Nate has put a lot of work and training into his voice. Listening to the Ender demo track compared to this… A massive difference. Well done
too beautiful for words. 🐦
