One of the finest bands I have ever seen . On their first tour in support of The Stranglers at Lincoln Drill Hall, the Skids bass player broke a bass string, no back up bass, only him and a roadie threading a top g string mid set, Stuart Adamson filled in the space by playing the Bill Nelson solo to Sister Seagull, a truly talented individual. I was so taken aback that I stopped punching a skinhead wearing a Sham army T-shirt. Rest in peace my man x
Thanks man, I just tubed the Sister Seagul track, I can really imagine Stuart appreciating that and playing it with the respect it deserves.
stuart adamson a genius
What brilliant quality film, the best I’ve seen of this show
Oh Stuart, what a genius, what a loss.
Yeah, just watched this, much of the Skids I liked is obviously Stuart influated - greetings from Stockholm

My first proper gig was The Skids about four months before this was filmed, great band.
Taped the sound off the telly at the time. Still got it !
Savour the mighty guitar!
Right on, absolutely majestic!, I don't Know why more people don't talk about Stuart's work with the Skids, he was a one off.
Stuart Adamson was a major influence on me picking up the guitar a genius and sadly missed

This is Chelsea College of Arts, 2 February 1981. The final gig was at The Venue club, Victoria Street on 10 February 1981. Shortly after that, first Baillie then Adamson left.
I Can’t believe I found this. Brilliant.
Watching again in May 2020.
Absolutely brilliant. Thanks again for posting! Cheers
They were f/ing magic
🤘😎 🙌 2024
Completely their own thing , gigantic
Great stuff
Absolutely brilliant!
they play "Filming in Africa" before Incident in Algiers, as an intro.
Fantastic - thanks for uploading
Wonderful, thank you for uploading
Pretty sure this was early 1980 as I was at this gig
Think this was in February 1981, rather than 1980. I remember it being on TV and the reference to "A Woman In Winter" deserving to be number 1 and that it should be re-entered is also a clue. It hadn't been released in February 1980.
". . . should have been number 1 - reiterate"
I think this was February 1980. Their rise in popularity seemed to be from 1978 with “ The Saints Are Coming” to 1980. By 1981 they were a thing of the past as The New Romantics took over. But I thought they were a wonderful band. I liked their originality and quirkiness, their humour and passion. They came from Punk Rock but were a major contribution to the promise of Post Punk. I wish They I’ d seen them play
yeah triple times
just got call from Japan i think she sais she prefered sunshine if achievable cheery blossom ❤
At 32 mins 36 seconds in you can hear where angle park came from.
@15:29: "Nobody smells my gravy" - that's what I sang for about 30 years.
Didn't Stuart Adamson leave the band soon after this concert?
Yes, he left some time in 1981. He also founded the band in 1977.
Long shot but... Are you sham and a half?
If not do you know if there is a mp3 version of this gig?
Would be greatful for any help.
Going to watch these tomorrow night in Dublin, last watched then in Dublin 1980!
Are you talking about the UA-camr sham64andahalf? I am not him. Write me an email shampistols69@protonmail.com and I'll send you a download link. :)
Not being picky but this was filmed at Chelsea College of Science and Technology not the Chelsea College of Art.
This is where I think The Edge got his idea to play the Keyboards and play Electric guitar
U2 have always been quite open about how big an influence the Skids were on them, and very respectful of them.
Never trust someone that wears sunglasses or a scarf when indoors
Great bands though
Haha! Or a hats indoors! I like hats but I am a stickler for hat etiquette. 😊
I love the singers scarf but why is he wearing the fuckn guitar?
Hero worship isn't healthy but Stuart & Richard were God and God's younger brother when I was a kid.
