3:45 " hello gentleman " how rude!! LOL
They were awarded the team bronze medal ten years later. This was after it was discovered one of the gymnasts on that same year's Chinese women's gymnastics team was underage at the time.
@MTVMANN Atler won the spot fair and square...so she wasnt an AA gymnast because she was inconsistent, but she could hit vault and floor usually. Even with errors, she would have outscored Dawes.
LMAO.
"Good morning, gentlemen."
Dominique Dawes was such a natural. She can train for a few months, look like she's been training for years and make a 3rd Olympic team. Whereas, Nastia Liukin can lay out fly-away and fall after a few months of training.
Dawes had no business being on that team.
Dominique and Amy were the best on that team !! Are u kidding !!
Atler should've been on the team instead of Dawes, they could've named her the alternate instead of leaving her out entirely. With a little more time, I believe she could've helped the US team win the bronze medal outright
Atler was not in it.... she had zero interest in being on the olympic team- which is why she basically ruined it in trials
Look up Vanessa Atler- Starting over
@@adammilowski6214 I did watch starting over months before typing that comment, she said that even though at the time she didn't really want to be there, she secretly wanted the Olympic medal. She also said she wanted to do well in the 2nd day of trials to cause a controversy. She knew she would be left out regardless of how she did because someone wrote an upset letter on her behalf to USAG without her consent. This is from her interview in the Gymcastic podcast
This was the worst womens gymnastics team they ever put together and im no expert
That "gentlemen" shit made me blush. Christ! What was she thinking?
@Mikizzle15 Awww....poor Kelli! She gives up those away bows she wore with Dawes in 1992-1994ish and looks what happens!
I understand the choice of having Dawes in this team, but crazy enough White and Beckerman were chosen in the mix. Could never use either of them on vault, and they were inconsistent on everything else. Atler’s weak competition still left her in top 6. Had she not had to worry about bars, She couldn’t brought a great score on vault and possibly floor. The U.S was not safe for a medal in 2000 and Dawes was the safe choice.
oof this is so awkward :(
@metsdudenj Who should have been in her place? Atler? She had too many mistakes and wasn't up to par.
Vanessa should have taken the alternate spot...it could have worked out for her if she needed more time.
This team had zero chemistry. Like taking 5 minute spaghetti and throwing it against the wall hoping it sticks.
Dominique dawes 2000 Olympics final
Good morning gentlemen?
