- MINUTEMAN III LAUNCHES FROM VANDENBERG
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. - An unarmed Minuteman III
intercontinental ballistic missile was launched during an operational test at 11:34 p.m. PST here Feb. 20, 2016.
Col. J. Christopher Moss, 30th Space Wing commander, was the launch decision authority.
"While ICBM launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base almost seem routine, each one requires a tremendous amount of effort and absolute attention to detail in order to ensure a safe and successful launch." said Moss. "This specific test will provide accuracy and reliability data that is essential to on-going and future modifications to the weapon system, which are key to improving the already impressive effectiveness of the Minuteman III force."
For information about the flight test, call Air Force Global Strike Command Public Affairs at (318) 456-1305 or after hours at (318) 532-1215.

Great show USAF, now time to develop the GBSD.
Excellent!!!!
Loudness SDI! Badass!
It's game over when both sides launch.
+Paul Schab well it all comes down to whether or not the US decides to use a decapitation preemptive strike, that includes knocking out command and control centers as well as missile bases and air force bases before they can launch any counter attack if they spot our missiles inbound. and this could be achieved by using a combination of SLBMs and ICBMs and stand off nukes dropped from B2 stealth aircraft. but we want to keep our trident subs as a guaranteed retaliation strike capability to ensure that if we lose most of our air and ground assets we'll still have more than enough firepower to hit them back harder than they hit us
Seller Critic one other step I forgot to mention was to locate and destroy Russian ballistic missile subs and their fast attack subs and ships before they can move to within striking distance of our boomers, surface fleet, and fast attackers
Congratulations on another successful launch! Didn't one launch a few years ago blow the door off?
that was a titan missile that exploded in its silo during a maintenance job a crew member doing some work dropped a wrench and it hit the side of the 2nd stage of the missile causing a fuel leak, eventually the fuel gases found an undetermined ignition source and ignited
Derek Wall Jesus! Was anyone hurt? I live in SM and I don't recall hearing anything.
Satchel Hogan 1 dead several dozen injured in happened in Arkansas in 1980 and another explosion in 1960 killed 53 people when a fire broke out inside the silo causing the explosion which destroyed the 340,000lb missile and this also happened in Arkansas as well. these missiles are liquid fueled and they burn Hydrazine a very toxic and corrosive fuel used in the 2nd stage because other liquid fuels like liquid hydrogen and oxygen wont burn as well in the out layers of the atmosphere where they missile can fly toward its target
Satchel Hogan minuteman is a solid fueled missile and is more cost effective to maintain and can be launched faster... normally within 5 minutes and its a lot safer
Derek Wall Good Christ. At least only ONE died(Preferably none). Well, I'll keep my eyes on the skies for any more missile launches.
aja y si corea del norte hace lo mismo es sancionado por la onu pero como es estados unido no pasa nada verdad
Better to find out who doctored the videos of the launch! Is UA-cam on its way out?? Green screening the video amounts to censorship! NOT tollerated
GOD BLESS THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
