The comment Oikawa made about the girls to Iwa-Chan was trash talk between two very close friends. We often laugh at or insult our closest friends because we know they know we don't mean any malice. He doesn't say nasty things to the other guys on his team. I think Oikawa is the most highly misunderstood character in this series lol.

In every guy friend group I’ve ever been in theres at least one guy who you will absolutely banter with and say the most awful things to each other in one moment and will absolutely take a bullet for them in the next 😂 When people hate on Oikawa teasing Iwaizumi I wonder if I’m an outlier for having that relationship with my bestfriends 😅

yeah, like Kageyama said in this episode, Iwaizumi and Oikawa have been playing together since grade (elementary) school. They are close friends and like to roast each other, that's their dynamic

I like how Oikawa being playful and bantering by asking "are you my mom" makes Sarah roll her eyes but literally 5 seconds later Iwa calling him trash and crappy is all fine lol. Its all banter between best friends anyway.
Oikawa is not arrogant, he is just really confident and a little sassy/sarcastic

I don't know if it's just because I have a big group of gay friends, but the sassy roasting/banter is VERY common in that sphere of people and watching Oikawa is soooo funny to me. I adore him`

It always upsets me how ppl say that Oikawa treats Iwaizumi poorly (although the two are friends and it's just how they communicate with each other)

Also, Karasuno has two players, who like girl's attention. Basically, before the match with Shiratorizawa, impressing the girls in the audience was one of their inspirations for winning. And we normally don't have any problem with that.
And pausing after every Oikawa scene commenting and then asking Adam's view, these seem kinda manipulating.

    • @annebelen5881

Exactly what I commented! Really disappointing to have double-standards just because the guy is popular with girls and is confident of his abilities.
Kageyama literally says "I'll kill you" to Hinata many times and Sarah will just laugh it off while Oikawa will comment something to Iwa, his childhood bestfriend!, and get mad. Not sure if she remembers the 2 seasons with Oikawa's back story 🙃

I think the difference is that at this point in the series you have seen the dynamic between Kageyama and Hinata develop so you understand the dynamic and intention. At this point you don't have any of that perspective with Oikawaa and Iwaizumi. Most of you have the benefit of a back story (Im assuming).

Some fun facts about oikawa cos i love him(no spoilers):
Oikawa's character was thought of by Furudate(creator of haikyuu) and his editor since they thought that adding a ikemen(good-looking guy), it would make the series more popular.
In every official popularity poll, for fans, Oikawa has placed 5th.
Oikawa is 17 turning 18 like many other 3rd years at this point in time.
Oikawa has been voted as best villain in anime multiple times, beating out mass murder anime characters, and boy just wants to play volleyball. (I believe that this is a running joke in the anime community, since he is not a villain and just an antagonist, so ppl just voted for him as best villain jokingly.)
Oikawa's bday is July 20, which is thought to be a reference to Alexander the Great since he is called 'The Great King', and also 'Oikawa the Great' in the manga, by Hinata.
Oikawa is 184.3cm or 6'0.6" feet in height
Oikawa and Iwazumi have been best friends since childhood.
(i would argue that Iwaizumi insults Oikawa much more than Oikawa does to him, but its all just good friendly banter to them)

Oikawa being on top of the villains poll is something that always puzzles me. Idk if they vote for him to annoy other villains' fans or they truly don't have the ability to distinguish between a villain and an antagonist 😅

Well it's quite easy to read him that way because that's how Oikawa behaves and presents himself outwardly. He acts like a snobby superstar that's above everyone else. I respect the hell out of Oikawa and think he’s one of the best written characters in anime, but nothing could make me like him until a point that hasn’t been animated yet. He’s very deep and has many layers, but incredibly petty and prideful and deeply in need of therapy. I sincerely believe that if he looked more like Aone or even Iwa-chan he’d only have about half the fans he does now. (I really enjoy the Iwa-chan banter though, you can tell they’re best friends and it always makes me laugh.)

25:32 Read the captions on top of the screen at that time, while they show Shimizu and Takeda in a conversation, chaos is rolling off on Seijouh's side of court lol. Iwaizumi is probably gonna hit Oikawa after that "none of the girls are gonna be looking at you" and Kindaichi is holding him back. To be honest, I think it's Oikawa's way of helping his players feel normal on court, giving them praises, engaging in conversation, riling his friend up (Iwaizumi, who is the ace and also a senior year player that everyone really looks upto and depends on). He gives them what they all need at the moment. Also, Iwa and Oikawa have been friends since childhood, can do "trashikawa" and "are you my mom, iwa-chan?" stuff, infact back to that scene once where Oikawa is held back by girls and Iwaizumi goes to get him back on his coach's orders, Iwaizumi hits a ball on his head and Oikawa immediately says that he's never been hit before even by coaches. That says a lot about their relationship. Iwaizumi pays Oikawa back every single time for his "trashiness" lmao so it's not one-sided. Oikawa is probably the only one who can get away with calling Iwaizumi as "Iwa-chan".

Haikyuu is definitely not for a one-time watch.
I hope Sarah&Adam will have some spare time to rewatch this episode after all these comments, gain new perspective, and understand where we come from.
In real life, I might not be friends with someone like Oikawa (we wouldn't be in the same circle, duh -- but even if we were, I would find it difficult to understand him) but from afar, I would be jealous of the kind of friendship that he and Iwaizumi had.🥰

You have a team captain who puts in the work, studies everything he can about his own team and the one they're facing, establishes strong communication, and gets under the skin of anyone not in Aoba Johsai's corner. Of course if you look at him from the perspective of someone rooting for Karasuno, he looks like a villain. But from the perspective of Seijoh's team, or perhaps a more neutral perspective, Oikawa's as great a captain and senpai as any that they could have wished for and you would want on your team.

I have a different interpretation of Oikawa talking to his teammates during the warmup. I like to think of it as Oikawa trying to calm his teammates' nerves before the game. He is encouraging Maki, talking to kindaichi, his banter and insults to Iwa chan is pretty mild when you think about their relationship, kageyama says they have been playing together since grade school, so they are basically bros. Because he knows Iwa so well and saw that he was trying to hit so hard, maybe he started teasing him to loosen him up. What do you think? Am I overthinking this?

I love Oikawa. He's immature and definitely enjoys being the center of attention, but he is genuine about trying to get the best out of his team. With Iwaizumi, they've been best friends basically forever, so a joke about not impressing the girls is just banter. He gives his all for the sport, and (despite seeming self centered) fully understands that it's a team sport and he'd be nothing without the others there.

Being popular with girls is not a crime, she is not disrespectful with them and he respects his adversaries, he is not cocky or arrogant, he knows he is good but he knows he is going to be surpassed by Kageyama due to talent and he begrudge that, which is a very human behaviour.

I was very neutral about Oikawa when he first came in. However maybe it's a translation issue? I've been watching anime for nearly 2 decades so I'm pretty comfortable with the Japanese language (I can speak it to an extent) and anime story-telling in general, and to me Oikawa's "sleazy" voice acting just sounds very casual, like he doesn't take anything seriously (but he clearly is very serious about volleyball) and slowly you see that he has all of these specific comments about his teammates play (re: douchey comment to Iwaizumi about not getting girls' attention was a joke, just like before when he says "Iwa, are you my mom?" in the locker room; that's their dynamic, Oikawa deliberately pisses him off while Iwaizumi mothers him) and then he says "I believe in you." In Japanese, it sounds.... eerie. A little scary. Suddenly, he seems serious even though he was acting so easy-going. When he walks on court, he isn't leaving them behind, but he's leading them in. He is more like a war general leading his army rather than a lone king (Kageyama) who wants to take on all burden by himself and would rather play alone than play a game in which he can't control his teammates.

Seijoh's banner isn't really meant to present the team or Oikawa as cocky. It pertains to two things specifically. Oikawa's nickname by Hinata, which is "The Great King", and the school's name which references the historical Sendai Castle.
Haikyuu really doesn't have anything that you can attribute to malice. The closest you'll find is a team shown in one of the OVAs but their actions isn't necessarily directed to the particular team they're facing, not to mention this characteristic is another reference to the team's name.

I am sorry, but I fully agree with Adam's statement that it's quite normal for someone like Oikawa to exhibit such behavior, especially in sports. I admit to displaying similar behavior when I was paintball player. Naturally, with more life experience, we tend to become more humble individuals.
Unlike Kageyama, Oikawa is a remarkably charming individual. Despite his ego, he articulates his thoughts without outright dismissing his team's feelings. I believe his teammates understand him so well that they recognize he's not a bad person; rather, he's an intensely competitive player driven by the desire to win. Perhaps that's why he's the captain.

The impression I've always gotten from Oikawa is that most of what we see of him in public is a facade. We saw him up late at night watching the Karasuno game, preparing for the match, and I think that serious hard worker is who he really is. The front he puts up helps put his teammates at ease so they can feel comfortable giving him feedback while keeping his own critiques from being too biting and harsh. For opponents, that front also gets them to underestimate him or become annoyed at him, either way, giving him a potential psychological edge.

Edit: When I first watched this episode, my perception of Oikawa was, 'Wow, this guy is annoying BUT he's skilled.' Comparing Oikawa and Kageyama, I now prefer how Oikawa treats his teammates.(Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Kageyama. He's my child.) The scene where Oikawa talk with his teammates one by one after set the ball made me respect him as a player. Off the court, he may seem unserious, but he gathers information to make his team the best. I feel like Kageyama hasn't completely broken the ice with Karasuno, but I can see he's trying so hard.

I honestly will never hate Oikawa because I respect his love and dedication to volleyball. His teammates respect him, and I wish I could say more, but we must wait for his back story!!!
Even at the start, I liked him. He is good and he is confident. Girls giving him attention is because he is good and good-looking.
Plus, we all talk smack and make fun of our bestie, but it's all with love 😅 Iwa-chan does the same, so I don't take in offense.
I love the phrase, "I believe in all of you." It may sound pretentious, but he says it to show that he does believe in his team.

I feel like Sarah‘s hate towards Oikawa which wasn’t as pronounced back when she watched this episode for the first time, is influencing Adam‘s viewing experience 😅 He would be way more neutral or even friendly towards Oikawa otherwise.
Yes, Oikawa bullies Iwaizumi, but it’s mutual. It’s like Kageyama and Hinata. Or maybe even more like Noya and Asahi at times, since Oikawa and Iwa have a decade of friendship to look back on.
It’s just that the way Oikawa says things is supposed to fuse this very adolescent-boyish-bullying with a suave pop-star demeanor, and that is why and some people (especially Sarah 😂) give him way less leniency than they give the rest of the cast.
    Because it sounds different.
Yet he is still just an adolescent boy playing volleyball who VALUES his team and his friends above all else. Who occasionally trash-talks the other team. As does Tanaka. Or Taukki.
He really isn’t half as bad as Sarah makes him out to be 😂 It’s just that the type of demeanor is different and atypical, as well as translation errors or missed lines of dialogue, which lead to him being misunderstood.

Okay here’s my most basic analysis of Oikawa without any future context that hasn’t already been provided.
As viewers this is the first REAL antagonist in the show and the easy trope to make him frustrating is to have him be the pretty boy captain where all the girls adore him typical douchey high school jock. Since we love Karasuno and Oikawa is a direct foil to Kageyama in the setter to setter battle it’s not hard to hate on the guy. We know he’s skilled and we know he dislikes our sweet misunderstood boy Kageyama because he’s a “genius” These are all face value easy things to pick up he seems cocky and arrogant and he’s a 17 year old boy we’ve all come across.
Now for the deeper analysis as a person that is important to remember but may be harder to pick up cause we’re thrown a lot of dialogue. Kageyama mentions that Iwaizumi and Oikawa have been teammates since grade school all the way through highschool they’ve been a setter and hitter pair for FOREVER and have grown up together as players. As an athlete and just guy who grew up with lifelong friends and teammates we will absolutely shit talk each other and fight Oikawa teases Iwaizumi about girls and Iwaizumi isn’t afraid to call Oikawa a piece of shit/trash and throw balls at his head or fight him as seen already. They KNOW each other and that’s why you only get the girl banter between the two of them and he doesn’t really make that girl jokes to any of the other players from what we’ve seen. His “I believe in you guys” definitely seems ironic and sarcastic from the outside but I think the coaches explanation totally is spot on and the entire team LOCKS IN afterwards you can see in their demeanor and attitudes the vibes change. He’s the regions top setter they trust him he trusts them and they’ve played together for years Iwaizumi for 7+ years and everyone in their middle school feeder program up for at least 3 years he knows these guys.
So yes he comes off as arrogant and cocky to the outsider but his only in team banter has been with his bestfriend Iwaizumi, and really the only player we’ve seen him trash talk is Kageyama his underclassmen so far. We know he’s skilled he won the best setter award in middle school and Kageyama mimicked/studied his moves to learn a lot as stated by Kageyama earlier in the show. He pretends like he doesn’t pay attention when watching the match but actually does by his commentary and he studies game tape late into the night where Iwaizumi needs to tell him to make sure he gets sleep.
If you’ve read this far and disagree you’re entitled to your own opinion and you won’t change my mind on Oikawa. He’s a well written antagonist in the beginning and were meant to dislike him so I wouldn’t fault you but there are a ton of little details already that are easy to miss or not understand. And like Adam has said these are all teenage boys being faultless like our Saint Sugawara and Daichi are the real unrealistic characters 😂 Hell Tanaka and Nishinoya obsessing over Kiyoko is objectively more weird even tho it’s played for comedy then Oikawa getting cookies from fangirls.
Thank you again for coming to my Ted Talk in the comment section have a great day and Justice for the best Antagonist Oikawa he’s not perfect but he’s definitely one of the most human characters in the show ❤😅

These are all fair points. I'm guessing that you have the benefit of seeing the whole show so you know their whole history which I think helps. The points that you bring up are all in context of what we have seen so far which I appreciate but you still have context. For me context is everything when you are watching personal interactions. I agree the character is written to be someone admired(work ethic) but also disliked (personalize wise). My gut feeling when seeing him initially is he is arrogant and the interactions are all self serving. Maybe that will change as we get some back story. It's hard to perceive Oikawa now without the context of the whole story (that many of us have), but while I see how he can be annoying, I don't think he does anything here to be perceived as malicious. With Oikawa and Iwazumi (Iwa-chan #4) they rip on each other because they've been friends since they were kids as Kageyama said. If it helps out of the 2, I prefer no BS Iwaizumi 😋
It's interesting to note actually that Oikawa seems to make sure to talk with every hitter about the set/hit here except Iwaizumi. He just rips on his friend a little as is their usual. That's a trust and long-time friendship detail I imagine - Oikawa trusts that Iwa will tell him when he needs an adjustment and so far, Iwa is only one who has communicated for a set adjustment. And Oikawa shows he knows Iwa just as well with the comment that he knows Iwa adjusts well and won't usually miss the hit even if ball set short.

I still think you guys have a huge misunderstanding towards Oikawa. First, I believe he is the least cocky (let me explain) most of the things that he says are in a sarcastic cocky tone (which also think doesn't translate well from Japanese), and that can come across as arrogant but in reality, he is the most dedicated, hard-working, and respectable player in the entire show, he doesn't think he is the best quite the opposite he knows he is not a prodigy so he works extremely hard to be great. He studies every team and gives praises to excellent plays and players cause he loves the sport and has a humble approach to it, he craves excellence and will always go for the win and uses his sarcastic jockey tone to mess with their opponents but that's all part of the game, he literally is jocking 98% of the time. Second, he is, in my opinion, the best captain we have on the show, he is the captain who observes every player and can adjust and communicate with everyone and that's why Seijou is the best all-around team (said multiple times on the show), everyone trusts him and have huge respect towards him, definitely the team with the strongest bond (*Spoiler* you can really see this in the final chapter of the manga) so when he says "I trust you" it's just simple as that, he trusts his teammates, trusts everything they've done so far and he truly from the bottom of his heart trusts his team and as for the joke with Iwa chan, they've known each other since elementary school, he is just messing with him to light up the mood, never on a mean way. He is by far the most complex character of the show and It's such a loss that you guys stay on the surface level of character analysis, please give him another chance hahaha.

And how they speak to him about his tosses - no hidden message there, they know he want to hear it and improve. When i first heard his line to his team before the match, "I believe in all of you" i honestly got what he is absolutely honest. All his jokes is nothing, he loves his team.

On the topic of Oikawa and how he treats his teammates: based on what we learned this episode with Kageyama saying that him and Iwaizumi have known and played with each other for years, I think it should influence how we view Oikawa's interactions with that player specifically. Of course, we know Hinata and Kageyama much better at this point, but they interact in a pretty similar way, constantly bickering with each other and especially Kageyama tends to sound rather mean out of context even if he is actually trying to motivate Hinata or give him advice. So if we can see through this and view those two as friends, I think Oikawa and Iwaizumi are very similar. The conversation they have in the changing room with Oikawa making a silly joke and Iwaizumi proceding to call him nasty nicknames (while he was actually pretty much telling Oikawa to take care of himself) is a good setup for their dynamic in my opinion, coupled with the information that they've known each other for a long time. So when Oikawa makes that comment about the ladies and when Iwaizumi straight up tells him the set was too low, it just goes to show how comfortable they are with each other (and again, interact in a similar way to how Kageyama and Hinata talk to each other).
So yeah, that's how I view it, which is funny, because I honestly don't love Oikawa personally, because I myself do get irritated by his attitude and characters like him are just typically not the types of characters I tend to like haha. But yeah, looking at all the things about him that can annoy someone, I don't think how he talks to Iwaizumi specifically is that bad

  • @Denf0
    @Denf0 11 місяців тому +6

Oikawa's communication style is so nuanced that it's really, really difficult to tell when he's being sarcastic and when he's being sincere, but that's also what makes him such a good setter. He can use that grey area to quickly establish a rapport (good or bad) with anyone while still controlling the tone, it's part of what makes his personality so infuriating because he has so much freedom in his personal expression that it takes a long time to pin down how he actually feels. Add on to that seeing a few interactions with his closest friend since grade school where his normal aloof tone switches to hard, biting sarcasm without hesitation and people get such whiplash they don't know what to think lol. I love the guy as a character and as a person but he's definitely a lot to take in all at once, especially considering he's just a side character in the overall arc of the show so the viewer only gets context in little bits and pieces at a time.

Part of the problem with Oikawa is that since he's the first major antagonist in the show, he is shown much more douche-y than he is later on in the show. For example, the scene with him flirting with the girls outside the stadium basically never happens again the entire rest of the show, but they throw it in there to make it seem like he's not taking things seriously (which if there's one thing this episode shows you about him, its that he puts in the effort when it comes to Volleyball). So he comes off worse than his character ends up being (whether you like his later character or not lol). Like I think if Sarah had only seen Oikawa from this point on, she'd have a better opinion of him. May still not like him, but I don't think he'd be bottom of her list personally.
For Adam, small spoiler, no team in the entire series has a chant as catchy as Dateko lol Sorry, thats the peak. Also lmao with the Kingsley Shacklebolt quote. "You have to admit Minister, Dumbledore's got styyyle" or something like that.

I liked Oikawa from the beginning, yes he's smug and can seem like a bit of a playboy but he's such a silly over the top character that I don't take him seriously which is why i never disliked him. Also anything between him and Iwa is just childhood friends ragging on each other with no ill intentions. I think as a team even though we haven't seen too much of them at this point, if Oikawa was really a bad guy his teammates would probably be treating him like Kageyama's junior high team treated him and the team atmosphere would be heavier and more antagonistic.

About the team dynamics, we saw a glimpse of it here and you'll see more as the show goes on, the other guys in the same year as him love pulling his leg while the juniors all respect him. Iwaizumi(Iwa-chan to Oikawa) is his best friend and the two are only ones to throw insults at each other at random

domestic dispute returns 😂😂 i love how sarah is soooo against oikawa as a person but he always makes it into her draft list bc she can reject everything about him OTHER than his ability as a player lmfao
gotta say although i find it funny i do agree with another commenter that oikawa is really misunderstood-- like his thing re: girls to iwaizumi is just regular banter for them, it never struck me as douchey at all! idk if it's bc my personality is somewhat similar to his so i sympathise more... i just feel like he's secure enough that he's not bothered about what people he dislikes think of him (which is why he's not polite at all to people like kageyama) and he's confident enough in how much his team trusts him (and how much he pulls for them!) that he doesn't feel the need to censor himself... his team clearly understand oikawa right back, otherwise ppl like kindaichi and kunimi wouldn't respect him so much imo.
anyway thats my little soapbox for the day 😂 ig i do tend to like the "arrogant" characters in sports series bc i often feel they're just being misconstrued due to being placed in the antagonist position... so i might be biased...

I think I just love Oikawa as a character because of the things he hides and not the ones he shows. And the relationship between him and Kageyama is something that shapes them both so it’s very interesting and it goes very deep psychologically so writing off Oikawa based on first impression is a sin in my opinion. 😈 Yes, I say this having completed the story, but I liked Oikawa since the start, unlike Tsukishima (I still struggle with Tsukishima, but Oikawa never bothered me much to begin with since he was on another team lol)

By the way, anime Oikawa comes out a little more cocky than in the manga where his features are less sharp, definitely giving him more child like characteristics. Even though unlike Sarah I absolutely love his voice: Oikawa’s voice actor did a good job in my opinion.

Oikawa and Iwaizumi just treat each other like that; Oikawa with his pre-match comments and Iwaizumi calling him Trashykawa, etc. Those two were the ones referred to this episode as having been teammates since grade school for context

    - There's a lot of things to say about Iwaizumi and Oikawa's relationship, but to put it simply "they're supporting each other their ways" all the time - words of comfort or insult, little details like Oikawa's hand on Iwaizumi's back during team-circle, it goes for both, checking the states. Especially it means a lot for Oikawa - hard-worker with no "real" results who puts a facade to hide his insecurities. Ironically, everyone understands how good Oikawa is as a volleyball player, but none in terms of his personality (except Iwaizumi ofc) - even his teammates might think of this as just a character trait. Reminds of someone, right? Even if their skills/approach/personalities are different, there's still a misunderstanding, as well as sort of loneliness, despair I'd say. Luckily, Oikawa has Iwaizumi and Seijo (why specifically this team - Adam, you will see later) and Kageyama has Hinata and Karasuno.
    - I understand Sarah's point of view - "I don't like him, and I have my reasons", but that's what makes me like Adam's tries to understand Oikawa even more. So precious, actually. And concretes the statement: every volleyball player with good skills can be a coach, but not all of them are cut for that. Because the coach has to be a people-person first of all.
    - By the way, Sarah, I was in your shoes. But despite my "first" impression of Oikawa I was still interested enough to know him more - and now [still don't like his behavior at times] I love him as a character because of will to understand. The will is all yours. And as a manga reader, I might be a little biased toward future events, and it is what it is.

Oikawa is... complicated, to say the least. It's very hard to get a read on him because it's hard to know when he's being genuine, when he's being sarcastic, when he's trying to get in people's heads, or when he's trying to give people a boost. He is most definitely petty, immature, and superficial, that's something everyone agrees on whether they love him or hate him. I think the shot of Seijoh's hitting line did a good job of hinting at the dynamic between Oikawa and the rest of his team. He talks to each individual member a little bit differently, which I think ties in with something Ukai said: "He knows everything there is to know about Seijoh's team, and is helping them bring out their A-game." And of course, he is very serious about competing and being the best he can be, and is an absolutely terrifying opponent.

I just think Sarah is overly critical of Oikawa. Honestly I think Oikawa's hijinks are much milder than some of the other players. The first time I saw Aone and his finger point I thought that was really rude too, but apparently that's fine. But Oikawa's competition with Kageyama, something which had been going on for years (and is somewhat personal), is somehow aggravating?
At this point it feels like Sarah and Adam are determined to misinterpret Oikawa's actions.

I actually loved Oikawa's character from day 1. He's a very well-written character, and his arrogance is a fresh concept that adds flavor to the series since most characters introduced in the first season are portrayed as respectful. So I agree with Adam that Oikawa is acting accurately based on his age and level of success. Despite his arrogance, Oikawa Tooru is hardworking and passionate about volleyball. In connection with that, his little tagline before every match was not said with malice. I like to believe that words may sound negative to some people but if the exact recipient of those words were not offended by it, then Oikawa wasn't being condescending. Remember, most of Oikawa's teammates were also Kageyama's past teammates who hated Kageyama for his arrogance. So if those people can tolerate Oikawa's arrogance, why couldn't they handle Kageyama's? I believe it was because Oikawa was genuine when he said he believes in them. While Kageyama, didn't have faith in his teammates during middle school. Kageyama needed Karasuno to learn that.
Anyway, Thank you guys for an amazing reaction as always!!

In my personal experience the top (best athletes in their sport ) do not need their personalities/actions to prove to people they are good. It's fine to have confidence and believe you are the best, it can be a little off putting to put that so blatantly in peoples faces. It can also have a negative team effect but in this case that doesn't seem to be the issue.

    • @selensewar
      @selensewar 11 місяців тому

@@adamschulz9475 well, yes, top players in the professional field usually do not need to act like that. They're mature, after all, and they're established top players. But if they wanted to but it blatantly to people's faces, and it wasn't detrimental to the team, i think they could. Oikawa gets a lot of forgiveness from me and the rest of community in this regard for still being a kid, among other reasons.

He is by far my favourite character in the show, the only one that comes close is post character development tsukki. So well written, i love every scene with him.

  • @shattermirror
    @shattermirror 11 місяців тому +2

Oikawa and Tsukki are legit my favourite characters because they're so INTERESTING. You can't help but love characters like Noya and Hinata because of how sincere and straightforward they are, but complex characters are always my faves.
Most of what I love about Tsukki would be spoilers so I'll just say here that I love his trash talk and sass that hides his stubbornness and quiet loyalty to Yamaguchi (they were friends since grade school!).
The spoiler thing could also be said about Oikawa, but I want to say that (except for with Kageyama in middle school), he's an excellent teammate. He understands all his players and how they tick, knows how to motivate or set them at ease, defends them against everyone else (especially a certain top player who's not officially appeared yet) and can always be depended upon in a game. Someone else mentioned as well about their middle school feeder program and yes, most of the team went to the same middle school before this so even the first-years have experience playing with Oikawa. (Kageyama also went to the same middle school but chose not to go to Seijou after graduating - likely for a variety of reasons but mostly because of how badly the last tournament run with them went.)
