Well, to me, they are still relevant. I love their lyrics and music very much. The were always a very good live band. Their albums are different compared to the 1990s, but there is some good stuff on the new album. E.g. Iris, Song for Someone and Cedarwood Road.
It's funny, for all the famous tracks on this album, Zoo Station, The Fly, Even better..., Mysterious Ways, One and it's 'Ultra Violet' & 'Acrobat' that are my favourites.

The calls were all real. Just did some research. Read the wikipedia page on Zoo TV tour and they explain it all. I was always blown and confused by this as a kid but it was always my favorite U2 style. Now I get it even more and learning about it was really neat

Joshua Tree wasn't creative and original, it was just bloody damn amazing good brilliant piece of music, and by far the best U2 album... Achtung Baby Zooropa and Pop... now that was creative and original ;) And of course a bit forgotten The Unforgettable Fire.
