My Loss Is YOUR Gain / Day 20 Highwood Montana Wheat Harvest (August 8)

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Because of the dew, the wheat was pretty tough this morning. Most of us waited while Dennis made the first pass.
Having the 3-day raincation made me appreciate my time in the combine all over again. The time will go way too fast now.
And then my combine broke. It could cut wheat and do what it’s supposed to do but when it maxed out at 3 mph. I didn’t do much of anything all afternoon - except…
Flew my drone
Rode with Jessie
Watched the crew work
Rode with Jim
So, you get more field action coverage today over others when I’m in the combine.
The combine is still sitting on the edge of the field - for now.
Kudos to Katie (Bret’s sister) for helping with the awesome drone shots. And, to Bret for his pictures!

Great watching these older videos.
I am so enjoying this. Wonderful memories to relive.
Thanks.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve
😊👋👍❤️❤️🇺🇸
I love watching them too!
Theres nothing more calming than sitting in a field running a piece of deere equipment doesn't matter how stressed out u are u get in the field or the woods all of ur stress will go away
Yep - but with any color, actually.
Jesse will be needing a raise now that she is a big time UA-cam star! Great video!
She’s a superstar, for sure!
Tracy would you thank the crew for all the assistance in taking pic and drone footages and once again thank you for taking us along. Tell Jess to keep smiling love the smile.
I’m certain most of the team will read your kind words. Thank you!
Tracy, trust me, there is nothing wrong with you! I loved being in a tractor cab for at least 10 straight hours a day, plowing back in the day. It was so peaceful being alone & enjoying God's magnificent creation. It was a good time to commune with the Lord. Again, you posted such stunning drone views of the wheat harvesting. Amazing! Looks like they feed you good! Thank you & stay safe! Love from Texas.❤
As teenager in the 70’s I worked a lot of ground after dark on a open station 4520 John Deere , fighting off the bugs and mosquitoes was miserable, “good times” lol 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Thanks for your contrary I have Enjoyed it for a few years good lu k on your retirements. Indiana Man. I am Retired. God Bless.
Tracy, you should be proud for what you stand for you have a hand in feeding the world And grumpy should be proud of you. He should be proud of himself for how many years how many bushels of wheat you guys have harvest I love the sunset again
We’ve had a very blessed life!!!
Nice one Tracy, great video
Jessie is a great operator and her smile would light up any situation
It's great to be part of a team that's getting the work done
And an amazing personality! She’s gonna go far.
@@Sasham4 - nope. I did it. (Tracy)
I am still in awe at how many acres these people farm!!! It seems to go on and on for miles and miles. At least you got to experience what the cart people do. I am impressed at how they know just how far away from the combine to get and how fast to drive. Glad you had her explain that. That was a pretty fancy supper for the field!!! Ours weren't quit as extravagant but we sure thought they were good, and it helped that we were usually hungry!!! But as a kid driving the tractor plowing I usually kept snacks and pop to eat on throughout the day. As always beautiful drone footage thanks to Katie and pics from Bret. Can't wait until tomorrow !!!!
Thanks for your kind note!!
Running out of superlatives here Tracy, its magical, and what a star Jess is. Thanks again.
She does such a good job!
Every young farmers dream girl
I live in Ohio. I couldn't imagine waking up to that scenery everyday !!!
ME EITHER!
Great video and thanks for the scenic shots. Beautiful country they live and farm in.
It truly is.
Equipment breakdowns are never fun, but in such beautiful surroudings and with such great people I am sure it is hard to be upset too much.
I’m not taking one day for granted right now. Trying to soak it all in.
fantastık makınlar ıstanbuldan selamlar
Thank you, ❤️❤️
Another day of the usual runaround. Great pictures while riding in the tractor cab. You are really menjoying the Harvest. Sometimes you are bored we when you are broke down. But the things seem to work out and you are back to combining. Jim sure in in his world as far as being able to harvest the grain. Looking forward to tomorrow Wheat Harvest 2023. CYA
❤️
The most stress free times in my life were running a combine or tractor. & fishing
And fishing! ❤️
Amen Tracy!!! Absolutely nothing better than a combine in a wheat field. Especially when the are green combines!
Well, or yellow. ❤️
Tracy you have the best job in the world combining. Those are some of the best wheat crops I have seen in years good friends and home made grub .and all the good scenery it truly is the best job on earth. Sam thank you again for the good videos. Sam
Thank you, Sam!
Love Harvesting !!! Just somthing Holy about harvest!!! Incredible scenery !!!!!
I agree!!
The ladies do a awesome job in the carts 🤠
They really do!
I enjoy your videos. We actually drove by the home base on Sunday the 30th of July on our way to the Ferry crossing at Carter, and we saw the Wagner/ John Deere parked out front. It’s a beautiful up around the Breaks and the Highwoods make even more beautiful.
👍🏻👍🏻
Tracy every video just gets better Thanks to all who are making these videos todays was a great one i loved the content you show just how much it takes a team of great people to do what they do everyday I just love all the things that it takes to get the crop from the field to where every it needs to be you are part of something that is very special thanks for the ride
Thank you so much for your kind note!!!
My favorite harvesting crew !!!❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tracy the best part of wheat harvest when I did it was supper time and every once in awhile fried chicken would come out to the field. Absolutely delicious 😋
Food always tastes better off of an endgate.
well was nice seeing you do some driving Tracy till something went wrong and even had the fitter puzzled maybe when he goes to bed he might wake up and say i know what it is and get you back up and running fine and i hope to see you back working fine tomorrow and catch you both again in the next video
😊
Great video! What a nice idea to film the combine from the tractor. You're right Tracy; it's great to harvest in the combine. Anyway, I think it's super fun to do. It is actually my wish to be able to ride in such a combine someday. That must be a great experience. I myself am a chemistry teacher and that has little to do with the professions in the agricultural sector! Still, I always watch videos about combines, but also sowing and everything that comes with it. It's really great to watch.
I hope you can help this family again next year, it seems like a very nice family. You will soon miss them! Greetings, Marco
Yes, I will miss them! I also hope we can come back. Thanks for your note, Marco!
Tracy learned something today, she learned how it looks from the cart tractor. I am sure it was different than from a combine. Thanks for sharing.
It most definitely is. I don’t know that I would want that job.
Another masterpiece!!!
Oh my! Thank you!
That is some beautiful country
It truly is.
Tracy your videos from Montana are just beautiful so jealous
❤️
No there is nothing wrong with you I feel the same way nothing more beautiful or satisfying than the view from a tractor or combine cab I can run for hours and not get tired or sleepy driving on interstate I am sleepy in 15 minutes
Yep!!!!!
Tracy, I have made 2-3 comments since I started watching you. I just saw that Manley, NE was on your shirts. I grew up in Oshkosh. Small world. Love your show!
It is! And just keeps getting smaller! We cut north of Oshkosh last summer. Stayed outside of Lewellen.
@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking
As I have said, I was on a custom harvesting crew for 6 years; I worked for Gerald Gortemaker (sons, Jim & Gary). When we came back to Oshkosh & cut their wheat, it was on the tableland, sourh of Oshkosh. I live in SLC, UT today, but hunt every year back home.
Wow, 3 weeks tomoz! today now.
Great video, I can tell not everyone wants to be filmed but the glimpses of the working day when others are around and sitting down and having supper together really adds to the variety of all the different components that make up the harvest day, nice to see, thanks to everyone for sharing with us.
Beautiful farming area you have there.
Thanks for your kind words! I’m sure most of the team will read them.
Go Cats ! Great shirt Jessie is wearing.
👍🏻
I used to love running the combine. No worries in the world
It’s so easy to get lost in your thoughts!
There are some things in life that can’t be explained. One of them is your contentment being behind the wheel cutting wheat. If you know you understand. If you don’t it can’t be explained to others. I get the same way driving my semi truck. My wife’s father warned her prior to our marriage that “you can take Bruce out of the truck but you’ll never take the truck out of Bruce”.
If you know, you know. And you know. 😊
Is Jesse James part of the family?
She is a great cart driver!
"No matter what color" -- --loved that quote
talking about being in the cab & in the field
Great video Tracy
No. She’s not. But they make us all feel like family.
Nice having some help in getting footage.
❤️ different points of view.
Geee so glad you guys popped up on my feed... I haven't operated a harvester since they were open cab, 12' head, manual everything else!
Whoa!
Tracy the videos and the view is some else i wish i was in a combine take care
I love sitting in the cab!
What a Great Adventurer Thanks
👍🏻
thanks for another great video, i am sure it is frustrating when you are having problems with the combine but just keep pushing om, see ya tomorrow!!!!!
Everything breaks.
Hi guys and girls what a great video you do and it's awesome 👍
Thank you 🤗
Really enjoy these videos!!!👍👍
Thanks!!👍🏻
Liked the tractor ride also.
❤️
That was awesome, reminded me of helping Charlie and Maryann Conn out by Ft Benton loved the amber waves of grain!
❤️
WE LOVE IT
❤️
I enjoy your channels
Thank you!!
Awesome pictures of combining and unloading wheat into grain cart, I’ve always wondered how you would drive a cart.
👍🏻
Jim gets his hot meal in the field, lol. I think it was 2 years ago in Jordan, that was Jim's one request, a hot meal.
I’m sure! When it was just the two of us, we ate lots of sandwiches and cereal.
👍👍 I was wondering if this was a normal or a twice in a lifetime yield for wheat just amazing stuff 👍 Thanks for another awesome post 😀
Probably a twice in a lifetime. I’ve been told a 60 bushel crop is common here.
Great video and hello from Denmark
Tracy said Jes don't be raging on Jim his mind is wrapped tight and doing lots of thinking or maybe plotting what he is going to do next 😊😊
😊
Another great video Tracy!!
Thanks!!
Tracy its your turn to run the grain cart you would probably be excellent at it.that will make you a all around wheat harvester .you have run combines and big trks so you mit as well due the trifecta
Nah. I’m pretty happy in the combine.
The landscape is breathtaking to say the least . Thank you for sharing all the pretty views . I envy all of you ! Would love to know where the nearest small city is . I know that your up there by Great Falls . The wheat there did better than here Tracey by 20 bushels or more . Thank you for sharing !!
There are several towns in this area. Ft. Benton, Geraldine, Belt, Great Falls.
Nice farming.. Greetings from Denmark
❤️
Que lindo lugar!saludos
Thank you!
I have spent time working out of Glasgow, which is not far from you. We visited Ft. Peck and the dam occasionally. I enjoyed that part of the country.
I do too. We love the town of Jordan.
Be fun to go on the wheat harvest with you guys
Well, we aren’t doing the wheat harvest anymore. The combine was sold this spring. We’re in Montana helping this family with their harvest.
@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking ok. It still looks fun
Your just a hard working woman
😉❤️
I used to get depressed when harvest was over and I couldn’t combine tomorrow.
I’ll be there before you know it!! I’m trying to soak up every minute.
I know this feeling!
Another great video Tracy, really interesting to get the perspective from the Grain Cart Operators view. Will the Crew carry on putting up videos when it comes time for Fall Tillage as it would be very interesting to see all those acres get planted.
That’s a good idea. Not sure if they would want to mess with that or not. It takes time to gather and pull these together.
Just wanted to thank a farmer
Hopefully, the farmer sees your appreciation. However, Jim and I are not farmers. But, we do own one acre 😉.
Tracy I think you have another daughter now Jesse James!
I’d claim her!
that hill would be bad if brakes went out and hydrostst blowed up you would have the ridee of a lifetime
YOU WOULD!!
you can have the combine i will live in the crain cart and do that and work the trucks where to go
Good thing we’re all different!
Jesse James nervous I don’t think she was at all, now I just found your channel this week if I ever could what you’re doing would be something I would enjoy doing but I would prefer to stay there for a year. How many of the people working with getting the crop out is family that works on the farm?
All but four of us. And they all make us feel like family.
I appreciate your wanting to to be in combine. Jerome Manhattan Ks.
Thanks, Jerome!
sorry you had to go slow, but we did get some hervest
👍🏻👍🏻
Jess is a pretty darn good looking young lady.
She’s alright. 😊

Looking at the drone shots. It looks like; "oh, a flat spot, let's plant wheat there"
Spot on
You are living the good life. What was wrong with the combine?
We are! A selenoid in the transmission needed replaced.
We would to load the back of the grain cart with the combined when the grain cart driver wasn't paying attention and see their reaction when the grain cart hitch lifted the tractor hitch with a bang .😂
Yikes! That would be a hard lesson if it had broken something and you would have had to fix it.
if i was in that combine i'd request to have the cart right next to me all the time so i could wave and smile all the time
🤣
What are you seeing for wildlife in the fields there?
A few deer. A few pheasant. A few rabbits.
It is not clear to me who is the custom harvester. At first I thought it was Brett. One (or more) of the trucks have the name of the custom harvester on the door - a family from west-central Kansas. But given the episode on the Wagner tractor, it is apparent Brett is the Montana farm owner along with his dad. So can you explain who is the custom crew from Kansas? Or am I missing something?
Jim and I used to be on the road with a combine. Did it for 42 years. We sold our New Holland this spring. We’re working for this family-owned farm. They called us about coming to Montana and helping. The custom cutter on the fuel trailer was a gentleman who lived in Rush Center. He passed away from cancer over the winter.
So, Brett bought that fuel cart?@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking
@@groth3395 - yes. The previous custom cutter became such good friends with the family, he was like family.
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your fellow harvester from Rush, KS. I know you've no way to keep track, but I've watched pretty much all of your episodes. So, I was aware of your "semi-retirement" status. @@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking
@@groth3395 I knew you had that’s why I was a little confused. I must have read your comment wrong.
Do these people cut flax or any oil seed crops this year?
No, they do not.
Do they bale any of the straw?
No. Not this year.
Jobs
???
Your in the righr color lol😅
Love is in the eye of the beholder. 😉
How much is Jim an Armenian? With his last name ending in aim I’m assuming it’s 50%
None. His family is German/Swiss. His great grandpa came from a little town near Bern, Switzerland.
A smart girl who helps you not to see this in Russia
Does Jessie have any social media?
🤷🏻♀️
ЗНАКОМОЕ МЕСТО РАЙОНЕ
Amazing Video 👌
Thank you 👍
Is Jesse Brett daughter? Wondering if you ever cut wheat with that high yield
No, she is not Bret’s daughter. We have cut wheat which yielded like this in Kansas a couple of times.
I’ve been watching your videos for years. I would like to come out and work for you guys next year. I don’t want to be paid. Just feed me that delicious food that you eat. I can operate anything. I’m serious.
We no longer are traveling with a combine. We are actually employees for a farmer here in Montana.
@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking I understand. Thank you for taking the time to respond. If you ever hear of a family operation needing help at harvest time, could you please let me know, or send me a link, or links to sites that I can put in an application? I’m guessing there are some forums where one can find farmers looking for help? I have 50 years of experience operating farm equipment and working with a customer harvesting crew is on my bucket list.

Does Jess have a weight display in the cab? Does she know always how much weight she has in the cart? How about weight distribution on the truck when she is unloading? Is there some measure of how much to put where in the truck?Outstanding video, thank you very much.
She does know what the weight on the cart is. The truck drivers help her distribute on the trailers. Except, by now, she knows this already without their help.
great video just subscriber today love watching framing video i watch the Welker Farms all time good luck on your harvest this year
Our harvest will be over when this harvest is over. Until fall harvest. Thanks!!!
Miles and miles of beautiful smiles!😀
❤️
Great show. Thank you.
Thank you!
Is this Jesse's first year running cart? And how old is she? Everyone is doing a great job by the way. The operation runs like a well oiled machine.
No, it’s not her first year.
I agree there’s nothing more beautiful than a combine in the wheat field. Harvesting wheat used to be an art, but I don’t know if it still is with the new combines that are so technologically advanced. How does the John Deere compare to the New Holland combines?
To me, they are combines. Doing what they’re intended to do. I did miss, however, a few of NH features.
you should be in a new holland combine no break downs lol. hi jessie.
😉
Not true I hauled away from an outfit with new Holland 8 of them. Never seen all of them going at once. More often than not it was two and three machines stopped for repairs.
@@joescheller6680 - we only had one. Couldn’t afford a breakdown. Time down = lost $ We never had a major breakdown in the 13 years of running ONE.
@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking you were very fortionate then I've harvested since I was 8 years old 76 now. They break down. I've ran every brand put there but the Fendt.
Sorry about the problem with the combine but on the other hand it's nice to see you with other members of the team. Hi Jessie. Thanks Tracy.......you need to get some Jim merch going as he reminds me of my Dad when he's at work 😉😉👍🏻
Well, we do have shirts and hats….

How many more days do you figure ???
Maybe a week.
