Oh no! Don’t give up! I discovered this game a few years ago and it has become one of my favorites I had trouble at first too.
Pro tip; Stick to the same type of bait and hook, Go around to all of the different areas in the level. Different fish require specific, medium or small hook to begin to reel in. They tend to stick to certain spots. You are bound to find the spot that takes the hook you’ve got set up. You will catch one! Good luck!
Whats funny is ... This game is only a spin off in the west! In japan this wasn't even supposed to be related to harvest moon untill natsume brought it over seas and added stuff to make it a neat bonus for other Harvest moon games
So, it would appear you are using the wrong Hook/Bait for the fish you were trying to catch. Smaller mouthed fish need smaller hooks and vice versa.
I was switching up hook and bait a lot. Maybe I was just getting SO unlucky that every time I was hooking the incorrect hook? That might explain it!
That's my bet! They intend you to go to the far right and catch trout, which are apparently the easier fish to catch in the begining.
This isn't some shade, but reading the manuals for these fishing games is crucial. I haven't come back to this one as an adult, but I did catch every fish in both games as a kid. I remember tugging more actively than waiting for them to tire, but who knows.
These non arcadey fishing games can be super cryptic! Black Bass got ya too.
Yeah there are some games that absolutely require booklets and walkthroughs, it appears that this is one of them!
This game effectively has a guide in the manual. It has all the maps, all the fish locations, the items, and all the enemy stats. Kinda crazy. They really tried to give you the info you might need.
